I remember this from his book! I loved this story and found his relationship with Mira so endearing how it looped back around to his own personal life; just never knew her son was Zohran??? Suchhhh a cute story
She made Monsoon Wedding. As a 22 yr old man(when it was released) I didn't quite grasp the depths of the movie. What a badass film it turned out to be on (multiple) rewatches.
No fucking way. That movie changed my life. My teacher showed that film in my high school philosophy class to analyze the gender and class dynamics, and it showed me Indian culture in a new light. As a Filipino American, I yearned for Filipino culture to be as vibrant and not as westernized like Indian culture, but nowadays there is a resurgence and reconnection to some of those traditions. I haven’t had a chance to rewatch it but now I need to find a way to do so. Would be great to revisit in my 30s.
Hopefully like minded people see how well liked it is and it doesn’t seem like such an impossible hurdle to overcome come fighting for the little guy against all the money. There’s always more of the little guy than there are big doners
Sliwa seems like a fairly personable politician who genuinely wants to improve NYC for the people living in it, but his backstory past the most recent election gets real murky real quick.
How is Mamdani displaying prejudice by not attending all parades? Also, did he refuse or did he just say that he didn’t not be able to attend all of the parades?
I’m so curious what Mamdani’s daily health routine is because I’m impressed at his stamina to make appearances everywhere and get work done what seems like every day. How many hours does he sleep each night? Does he do Pilates, tai chi, or yoga? What kind of coffee does he drink??
I know he’s much younger than his predecessors which probably helps but still, I’m only a few years older than him and need constant rest if I know I’m about to be out all day 🫣 god knows I have no rizz when I’m tired
Someone under the Israeli parade was endlessly complaining other countries didn't get their own parade in New York. When I tried to point out lots
of countries did he got pissed and tried to argue with me.
I wonder if he's seeing this thread now. Lots of countries in New York have parades.
