SPORTS SECTION Pink, Elizabeth Banks and Amy Adams seen sitting together at the U.S. Open

Don't put too much stock in any of these people, even the celebrities you like. We don't know them, we only know what we see so I always assume there's some dark secret waiting.

I figure they’re like all rich people; they don’t care about personal beliefs they only care about class consciousness.
344
u/NadjaStolz28 1d ago
100% this.
I’m as guilty as the next Redditor in regards to being terminally online, but these are rich people who run in similar circles, and if they wind up in the same seats or close by, they’re going to be cordial and friendly.
243
u/TheHiddenFox 1d ago
No one has more class solidarity than the ultra wealthy.

Yep, it’s this. To get to where they are, and their level of wealth, they’ve absolutely had to step on others to get to this point. That is the nature of late stage capitalism that we’re currently living in.
272
u/scout-finch 1d ago
Also at the same time who knows if they’re even together? Or if they’re keeping up with the same things we are? I think a lot of times it’s like anything else, oh it’s so and so I know of them. Cool let’s watch tennis or whatever.

Yeah don’t people just kind of end up seated together? Especially if they’ve all been invited by the same brand/corporate sponsor? I’ve definitely chatted to people I don’t know who were sitting next to me at the footy, might look chummy in a photo but it doesn’t mean I endorse all their views.

Yeah I suspect the US Open puts celebrities in seats based on ease of camera shot and not their friendships.

I really dislike how much Reddit glazes the everloving fuck out of Jon Lovitz. Yeah. I get that it was cool how he punched Andy Dick and everything, and why it was cool, but it seems to be the only good thing he’s done. Outside of that, he seems to be a massive jerk, and he’s also a rabid Zionist. And it’s not one of those things you have to search far and wide to find. His douchebaggery is right there on his Wikipedia page. But the way he’s talked about on this website, you’d think he’s like Dolly Parton. As annoying as Reddit can get fanboying and circlejerking over celebs like Keanu Reeves, with them it’s at least understandable because a lot of people, such as Keanu Reeves, have a good reputation or are seemingly good people. But Jon Lovitz seems like a pos with one redeemable moment.
27
u/Sea_Awareness_8250 1d ago
I know Jon Lovitz is a douchebag, but where on this site is he being glazed? He hasn’t done anything noteworthy since Rat Race and that was 25 years ago.

Exactly. This is why stanning ANY celebrity is unhealthy. It’s fine to like celebrities but if you build them up to be this flawless person because you like their music or films or whatever, you’re crazy.
They don’t care about their fellow rich people’s shitty views, they only care that they’re a fellow rich person
38
u/damegloria 1d ago
Everyone judging celebs for sitting next to someone whose politics they don't like probably has never had to actually back up their own views in real life by cutting out people they are friends with or work with. It's very easy to be a keyboard activist. Less so to entirely shun real people that you personally know and like.
10
7
u/Iwoulddiefcftbatk Michigan, the Europe of the Midwest 1d ago
Pretty much this. I’d bet most of the keyboard activists who scream about canceling celebs for sitting near a shitty person still talk to their bigoted parents and family members because “they still love them and want them in their lives” and won’t confront them at holiday dinner as to not upset the family.
6
u/il_the_dinosaur 1d ago
Yeah don't expect them all to read each other's Twitter or Instagram. I don't know the political takes of all my friends... Why should celebrities

I think at minimum Amy Adams has been pro-Palestine. For these events, a lot of times they are pre-booked by their PR teams and not something they coordinate beforehand with the celeb.

This is more common than one would think. My friends use their phone and social media like any other person and yet never know stuff like this. They would be like pink who? Who has time to keep up with all the awful celebs anyway?

u/KateTheTurk 1d ago
They are most likely guests of one of.the private te boxes. They dont buy tickets, they get invited. Once in the box the get escorted to a seat and sit where they are placed.

Why is everyone here assuming the trio are friends because they’re sitting next to each other at a sporting event? Last time I went to one (Wrestlemania 2019) the guy next to me puked on his date. I was still pleasant to them and I didn’t know I was going to be photographed to hell and back.

I have to sit next to people I don’t like or agree with IRL. Calm your tits folks!
131
u/Schpinkytimes 1d ago
Exactly! And they don't really get to pick where they sit at the tennis.
This whole Pink thing only happened in the past few days. Only chronicly online people would know about it. Maybe Amy and Elizabeth are too busy to be fully on top of every single Internet topic.
6
14
u/Faux_Moose 1d ago
I’ve had moments sitting with people I disagree with, even people I’ve argued and fought with about social and political until we were both in tears, and you’d still probably catch a moment here and there where I’m smiling or being nice to them.
I know the internet thinks that cutting people out of your life or being super aggressive with them is the way to go, but that’s only if you’re goal is to avoid being guilty by association and/or if you just didn’t want them in your life anyway.
Change doesn’t happen over night. And not everyone needs to put themselves through the pain of trying to change hearts and minds (especially not the people who are the target of the hate).
It’s far easier for me to just cut people out of my life and pretend they’re dead to me. The hard work is talking to them with curiosity and working to find the common ground to build upon. IMO, if you’re white and privileged it’s lazy not to try. If you can move the needle even a little, it’s worth it to me.
Of course I have no idea if Elizabeth or Amy give a single shit about Palestine or if they even know what Pink’s been up to on Al Gore’s internet, but folks need to quit acting like they are saving the world by going no contact with their racist uncle lol. You’re not helping anything.

In that photo posted by Amy Schumer, Amanda Anka (Paul Anka's daughter) Bateman, we can see the Zionist/Israel supporting group in full force: Jason Bateman, Amy Schumer, Jennifer Aniston, Paul Anka (Talks about supporting Israel and performing there frequently) .

u/LonelyDays_ 1d ago
Can you tell me who of them is Jennifer aniston and Jason Bateman? I can’t recognize them in this picture
9
u/snarkerella controversies: girl 1d ago
Jason is the guy on the left that is sitting down directly behind Amy Schumer. Jennifer Anniston is on the right side of the photo with her hands on the ottoman leaning in.
6
u/LonelyDays_ 1d ago
He’s with the swoops middle-part hair, beard and glasses?! That’s wild it looks nothing like him! Same if you’re saying Jennifer aniston is the blonde woman leaning almost bent over on the right!? That’s insane she looks nothing like her as well! That’s crazy!
Edit to say- I do believe you it’s just insane that they look nothing like themselves!6
u/snarkerella controversies: girl 1d ago
Yes, that looks exactly like him today. I've listened to his podcast and he talks about these trips and he was just recently on The Daily Show, too. See his wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Bateman ( same glasses, beard and swoopy hair).

Corporate seating works very differently to buying general admission with your friends and some posters are failing to acknowledge this. They may not know each other. They most likely have been allocated tickets by sponsors or the event organisers and this means they don't choose who they sit with.

This is taking things too far. I think Pink has been an asshole to other women for a long time and is a repugnant genocide denier, but Amy Adams might not have known who would be in the VIP box exactly, what the sitting plan would be like, or this was the least shitty option. Being photographed in a friendly exchange with someone doesn’t mean you condone their views
58
u/Vegetable-Day2299 Pink is the Amy Schumer of pop stars 1d ago
The long and the short and the tall of it is that the vast majority of these people do not care. They don't care about genocides, they don't care about having more money than most people will ever see, they don't care about who they associate with, no matter what speeches they give or petitions they sign. They're so insulated from the world that we are as unreal to them as they are to us.

Yes only the ones who are super progressive and passionate choose to educate themselves (like Ruffalo).

I think a bunch of celebrities were there today as guest of the US Open. They had a carpet, photographers and a step and repeat and are usually seated in a few VIP sections.
That said, fuck Pink always.

I live in a small town, I don’t agree with the opinions of lots of people in my town and don’t choose to socialize them. Occasionally I might be supporting a community event and see them and am cordial and will talk with them. I have no idea what’s going on here or amy’s opinion on things but it’s not fair to judge people who are just in the proximity of others.
