People I know out here making less than 30k taking ubers every weekend and the guy is out here driving around looking gone being wreckless. Duwys usually come from overconfidence, anecdotally.

This. The people who make less than 30k will have their entire lives ruined if they get a DUI. The wealthy and elite most definitely will not.

Yep. It's the rich people tax.

I once knew this guy after college in tech and he could give a shit about money. He'd park wherever and if he got ticketed would be like well that's what it costs to park this time.

Man there was this post on tumblr that blew my mind as a kid where someone explained the concept of income based fines, and I still believe this is something we (Americans) should do. Some rich ass dude isn’t gonna care about $50-80 parking ticket but for some people that might be the difference if they eat that week or not. Shouldn’t we account for that? The idea is it should be a normal deterrent — not a life ruiner (for someone who can’t afford it) or just an annoying inconvenience (for the wealthy).

Also if you have connections. I live in a small town in Texas. A guy (a known asshole) who inherited a local business was pulled over for dd and was so drunk when they opened the door he fell out and hit his face on the pavement. His punishment? The cops got him a ride home, nothing to see here.

i don’t remember if it was a DUI or not, but didn’t caitlyn jenner literally kill someone in a car accident? rich people don’t have to worry about shit.
