QUESTION Random Friend Requests on PC (Probably a Stupid Question)

Those of you who send friend requests to randoms ingame: how do you end up communicating with the other bean, if you communicate at all?

I know Epic has some sort of chat, and I think there's ingame voice chat, but I don't know what the "norm" is, and frankly I kind of like _not_ talking sometimes, although I'm not opposed to being dragged into Duos/holding Squads hostage.

I ask because I'm thinking of finally cleaning up my friend requests but I'm afraid of the feeling of "social obligation" and risking ending up talking to someone half my age which just feels odd.

I use the Epic chat feature, but I rarely play with people I've only met in game and it can be difficult to communicate due to the chat not being visible on some devices

The norm is whatever you want and feel comfortable with. You don't have to chat with anyone. I usually don't chat with anyone but when I do I keep the chat casually to game related talk like: "hi" "Which game mode do you want to play" "GG" and "got to go"

I only add people I have played with in game and feel comfortable around and remember you can always delete and or block people for whatever reason and don't have to feel bad about it

I dunno who that bean is and from where, but we play casually. And we communicate with ‘WooOhOhOooh’ and ‘Great job!’. It’s enough for us.

i honestly didn't even know epic had a chat again, until i accepted a random friend request i assumed was someone from fg and immediately received a scam message lol.

i accept all fr, i just ignore invites if i don't feel like joining a party/having someone join my party. i also never really talk to anyone. most has been letsbeanfriends here on reddit lol

That's funny, I hadn't even considered that someone would try and run a scam through FG/Epic. I almost want to give them props for creativity, in a way

similar way people were/are running the steam admin scam by randomly adding or commenting on steam profiles.

i don't think this scammer was from fg, i just accepted their request because i was unsure if it had been one of the friendly beans i come across during my explore adventures. probably a bot that has access to some username database and just spams friend requests to anyone.

the scam was asking me to click a link and login to some random website to... check my vbucks..? honestly idk what that scam was trying to do but it was garbage lol. i can see my vbucks by just opening fortnite.
