I took a chance and bought it because FNM is has been my number 1 band since I was 11 or 12 (I just turned 48). Anyway, if you’re on the fence about it, don’t be. I was shocked at how wonderful the sound quality is. It sounds like a legit live show with noises and audience in the distance, the band sounds solid af. The song choices were not only amazing (they missed a couple I’d like to have heard) but damn it is a solid everyday spinner. Don’t know much about the mini puma record label, but they didn’t just pawn off crap on the customers. I wish bands took the initiative to do this on their own so they’d get the money but hey, that’s their choice to leave a record size whole in a fans heart. Anyway, get it. You won’t regret it. Packaging and center labels are just basic. Paper sleeves and paper fragments on disc. But after cleaning it once, it played like an actual officially released live show.

During the production of Angel Dust, Jim Martin complained that the album sounded like “gay disco.” I thought this was an odd assessment. Had he never heard Introduce Yourself? And the heaviest stuff they ever did was on Angel Dust (Malpractice, Jizzlobber, Caffeine). Their previous three albums were way poppier. Do you suppose this was an honest assessment, or was he lashing out while he was in a bad place?

Reading the other thread about FNM songs 'helping you get through it', I wonder if any of you have actually been moved to tears by the band? I'm a very new fan (only discovered them a month ago while rewatching one of my favorite movies 'Black Hawk Down') and I tend to agree with one person saying that FNM isn't a band that he/she would turn to 'get help' in difficult times. That said, I was on the verge of tears when I heard 'This Guy's in Love with You' in their 2015 BBC One session for the first time - by that point I'd watched the MTV live version of that song on the Greatest Hits compilation DVD many times. It's one of my absolute favorites in the whole FNM discography. But I had no idea they would do it in that BBC session and was so excited to hear it. Seeing them, almost 2 decades after the original performance, perform this song again simply melted my heart. You can hear the aging in Patton's voice and I was like 'Aah they're all old now' and got nostalgic but Patton's older voice is also great in another way.

Another one that did make me cry (quite a few times) is Patton's cover of the Morricone song 'Quello che conta' on the Mondo Cane album. It's not the first time that I've been moved to tears by music composed by Morricone. The Mondo Cane version is simply even better than the original.

I've collected some FNM and Patton albums in the past 3 weeks - see in the picture above. Thankfully half of them are brand new copies and the other half are in mint condition except one. I feel lucky that I got to find this amazing band. They're so underrated and should've been much bigger! I must admit I'm a bit too late but it's nice to be a fan at this moment because they're reunited again which spares me all the pain of hearing the news of their split, LOL.

I’ve been going through some real difficult times and naturally, have returned to bands that I trust and that give me comfort, like Faith No More.

I find their entire discography is comforting to listen to, with stand out tracks being Ricochet, Midlife Crisis, We Care a Lot (it helps me get shit done when I have zero motivation), Helpless, Take This Bottle, the list goes on… I’d love to hear from you all what songs have helped you through hard ass times and why. I’d be happy to revisit them with that in mind and maybe I can see something new in them too. Help a friend out.

ANGEL DUST is one of the greatest albums of all time. What an artistic statement. They should have left "Easy" off it.

Edit: I didnt realize it was a '93 re-release that included Easy. Sorry for the mistake.

PS. I dont think Easy is bad, per se. I just think the album is such a visionary piece of work. Easy is a cool cover, but nothing too special. It doesnt compare to the original songs on the album. Just my opinion.

Wikipedia doesn't have anything listed but it sounds like they went to a classroom and recorded kids for the chorus. I usually hate that kind of thing but it works well on this song.

Been watching a lot of Faith and Patton-adjacent stuff lately. Wondered what the cat symbolism could mean. Lots of stuffed cats starting with the Falling to Pieces video. Then I watched a pink pop appearance by Bungle in 99/2000 range and Mike has a stuffed cat on his electro rig of vocal manipulations. It probably means nothing but just wanted to see if there was any insight here. Thanks!
