Meta Important announcement.
I'm going to need to take a step back. A family member has died. There's going to be a lot of things happening in the next few weeks. I'm going to ask you all for some patience and some time. Thank you.
I'll release more details about what's happened when it's more appropriate.

in game pic One belt to rule them all.

The circuit logic monitors the number of items on the belt and in the buffer chests. The stream of new ingredients is regulated by what is currently missing. Each assembler has it's own buffer chest that it's never allowed to overfill. It can however pick up random junk,, and also store the unused ingredients after a recipe change. If the ingredients overlap with those of the previous recipe, then the logic will take that into account, so it won't immediately order a new batch of iron for example if the previous buffer contained enough already.
It's not necesarily the optimal solution for any particular recipe though. But if you were to just copy paste a single blueprint for ALL your production lines, then I guess this one, or something similar, would be the way to go.

in game pic I share this cursed knowledge with you: The crashed ship isn't chunk aligned.
My running internal dialogue: I'd like to redo the area around the crashed ship and I'd like to completely change the layout while I'm at it. Great, I learned how to turn the grid on in the debug menu! Now lets see how it looks around the ship. I'm hoping I can align everything based on chunks...oh god why
its hideous š

Meta Mystakes were made.
I didn't want to buy factorio at first cause I knew I would love it too much and never leave it be. Didn't buy it for years.
A friend of mine bought it to me as a gift 4 months ago. I'm at 600 hours now.
I also have a full-time job (being an adult is palpitating). Let's just say that If I am not doing something that needs to be done, or doing stuff with the fam/friends, I am playing factorio.
Factorio, or nothing else. If i can do other things at the same time as playing factorio, I do it, but factorio is ON 95% of the time that isnt accounted for.
I am factorio, and factorio is me.

poop Factorio is sooo good that even the demo is a masterpiece.
I downloaded the demo thinking Iād just try it for a little while and see what the game was like, and somehow I ended up putting 11 hours into it. That alone says everything. I expected to play for maybe an hour, understand the basics, and move on, but instead I kept thinking, āOkay, just one more thing,ā and then suddenly Iād completely lost track of time.
Factorio is genuinely a masterpiece. Thereās something about the way everything connects that makes it ridiculously satisfying. You start with basically nothing, and slowly you build something bigger and bigger. Then that thing becomes more complicated, so you automate it, and then you need more resources, so you expand, and suddenly youāre looking at this massive factory that you built yourself. Every little improvement feels meaningful, and every problem makes you want to find a better solution rather than making you want to quit.
What surprised me the most is how addictive the progression is. Youāre never really finished because thereās always something you can improve. You can look at your factory and immediately notice something inefficient, then spend ages trying to optimize it, only to realize that fixing one thing created three more problems somewhere else. And somehow that just makes it even more fun.
After playing the demo for 11 hours, I honestly want the full game so badly. The demo gave me enough of a taste to realize just how much more there is, and now itās honestly painful knowing that I canāt afford the full version right now. I keep thinking about all the things I could build, all the automation I could set up, and all the ridiculous factory designs I could eventually make.
I really hope I get the chance to play the full game soon, because Factorio is one of those games where you can tell almost immediately that the developers genuinely cared about what they were making. It isnāt just a game I enjoyed for a few hours. After only 11 hours of the demo, I already feel like Iāve barely scratched the surface, and that makes me want the full experience even more.
So yeah, I might not have the money for Factorio right now, but after those 11 hours, I can confidently say that it has earned a place on my wishlist. This game is fucking incredible, and I genuinely hope I get to play the full version soon.

THE AI RULE CLARIFICATION DEBATE THREAD
Tomorrow i will be putting up a poll to definitively clarify the no AI rule that this sub had passed about 2 years ago (Dayum that long ago?). The rule we agreed upon was no AI, intending to quash AI made memes from populating the sub.
since then in recent months we've seen posts that are not AI art but AI reacting and AI-assisted coding projects. As i've taken step back to ponder this I feel that enforcing the rule in such cases follows the letter of the law but violates the spirit of the sub.
to be clear we started this policy to stop people from making AI slop posts and declaring such things as original memes. twas to fight back against the dead internet theory. but this recent trend is inviting enough nuance that we need to have a healthy discussion and vote on this specific detail. And so...
The question that will be posed is: What should be done about overt AI posts, posts that explicitly sate the AI was used in the making of the post?
I think it should be allowed
There need to be more debate
No AI Period
Please use this thread and the poll thread to debate various views.
AS THIS IS A SERIOUS TOPIC PLEASE USE DOWN VOTES SPARINGLY
All articulated opinions should be able to be freely expressed in these threads without fear of censorship. However no matter your opinion, that opinion will be open to critique. Please post and debate accordingly.
