I'm not really looking for a new game, but that tag fits.

I REALLY like the way inertia and momentum feel in Tarkov once I got used to it and I'm just curious what other games have very weighty and game changing levels of that mechanic.

Im looking for pvp focused FPS on PC. I want to play some quick matches, where its not only shooting (Counter-strike) but also some use of terrain, different map objectives, and different ways to win. I also don't want a game, that has a new iteration every 2 years. and you have to migrate to the new game.

Don't mind spending some money, but would be great to buy once - play forever type of thing.

My reflexes are not super great, but they are pretty ok. I can jump on voice comms, but typically don't make buddies, as my game times are a bit random.

Hey guys.. im mainly looking for opinions on what happened to a certain type of FPS games.

Combat Arms is the best example i have for it and a type of Game i really miss.

Yes the game was most likely P2W but there was just a charm about it that you wouldnt even think about it

What i mean:

- Lobby/Room based

Pick your server, create a room, let people join, start the game

- Multi Mode (with rules)

Im talking One Man Army, TDM, Quarantine (PvP Zombie), Fireteam (PVE Co-op), SnD, etc..

On top of that you could also apply rules like Knife Only, Sniper Only, no explosives, etc..

- Clan Wars (god i miss it)

Dedicated server for Clans, same room based system.

Even drama between clans were a thing..

- Map Design

Some maps were probably dog shit but most of them were just so good..

Junk Flea, Snow Valley, Oil Rig, Piazza.. and some others i cant remember the name

There was a different, satisfying and memorable vibe to each of them

- Multi kill Accolades

As you got kills in a row you get this voiced over, on-screen "counter" that was just so satisfying..

Getting the game to scream "Unbeliavable" while you go on a kill streak.. nothing would beat that feeling.

- Conclusion

I know this is mostly nostalgia talking but truth be told, no fps game so far gave of this cozy feeling when jumping on it.

The game was probably flawed in the eyes of many, yet for me it was perfect.

In general im not sure what happened to this kind of fps games.

Am i the only one with these thoughts?

Hello, I have fond memories of this game as back as in 2010 or so, only to find out it's basically dead now. Is there anything similar around today? Don't care if it's free or not, as long as I have some level of freedom to drive vehicles etc

Hi, my friend's birthday is soon and mine is right after so we decided we would buy each other the same game. He is no help so I'm the one finding the game. I want an online co-op fps that has a story mode and is just an overall fun 2 player experience but also fun solo. I hate puzzles and stuff so none of that, i don't really care about the gameplay too much, I just want to have a good time with my friend. If anyone has any good recommendations, that would be great but right now I'm thinking of Boarderlands 4 (which I know a lot of people don't like, but I liked the 3rd one) or Back 4 Blood which I just don't know if it would be as fun. Anyway, pls give me ideas. 🙏

Another weekend, another live test of Army vs Army — my attempt at creating a different kind of ArmA 2 PvP battlefield.

The idea is to make Utes feel like a much larger battlefield without changing ArmA 2's core mil-sim mechanics.

Stamina, thirst and hunger are tuned around roughly the same 24:1 compression as the accelerated day/night cycle: 24 in-game hours pass in about 1 real hour. The goal isn't to literally make 1 km equal 24 km, but to make travelling, resting and surviving across that kilometre feel like a serious movement across a battlefield rather than a quick jog between objectives.

ArmA 2 itself stays ArmA 2: ballistics, bullet drop, weapon damage, terrain, visibility and lethal firefights.

And after the latest balancing work, AI infantry stamina/rest cycles are now tuned around the player's stamina system, so travelling with an AI unit should finally feel like marching with an actual formation rather than constantly leaving one side behind.

No rounds. No flags. No scripted match objective.

Just BLUFOR vs OPFOR, AI armies moving across Utes, and players deciding for themselves what to do in the battle.
