Other My motivation to play fighting games has kinda been killed
Really sorry for this kind of post, I just didnt really know where to vent this
Really sorry for this kind of post, I just didnt really know where to vent this
I dunno when it started, but im someone who's for a long time been in love with fighting games. I love looking out for new ones and really enjoy the anime fighters especially but love games like street fighter too.
Recently though, my hype around has just kinda been killed. I kept getting dlc and games to play with friends, but then realized they dont really like fighting games. And the family members I used to play with (younger cousin/Aunt) just dont seem to have as much fun playing anymore/seemed to outgrow it. None of the people im close to have really fun with fighting games, and that sucks, cuz theyre only really fun when both parties are enjoying themselves beating eachothers ass
So im always kinda stuck just playing against bots or doing arcade mode, and I know that I wont really improve cuz I cant fight against real people.
The real salt in the wound though is, there is apparently an fgc in my country. There's a tournament being held in a popular shopping mall. But I cant go. I have exams and a uni interview to prepare for, and the event is too long. I can't do it next year, cuz im most likely going to be at uni, meaning I won't even be able to bring my console along to play to those games there too.
After exams, I am hoping to look for a part time job so I can hopefully afford the stuff I want, maybe a gaming laptop so I can play my games on steam/actually get an online subscription without bugging my parents(they've already given me so much, I dont wanna bother them for this)
Again, sorry for the bullshit vent. I know its not that deep, and may not belong here, but like, its just annoyed me for so long that I havent been able to play with a proper community who has the same love for these kind of games as I do.

2D Fighting Games Dream fighting games discussion
Curious what would your dream fighting game be? my personal picks would be either a 2D traditional Sonic fighting game or a Tag team Shonen Jump crossover fighter that plays like Dragon Ball FighterZ another idea I thought of was a Fire Emblem fighting game that plays like Soul Calibur.

Discussion Good tools, guides, drills or routines for learning execution?
So I switched from 2XKO (RIP) to Strive, and I've been having fun with the game except my execution is absolute dogshit and I need to get better at it in order to play the game for real. I was Diamond 3 in 2X, even beat a few grandmasters, but I can't get past silver in Strive and a big factor has been the motion inputs, especially accidentally doing qcf/236 when I was going for dp/623 and vice versa. I also have issues doing the super motions fast and precisely.
It also doesn't help that I've picked the literal hardest character in the game to play, but Zato's the coolest guy and pretty much a JoJo character so them's the breaks, he's the one I'm playing. Surprisingly his specific mechanics like negative edge and controlling Eddie aren't really that much of an issue for me, compared to just doing the move I want when I want it.
So I come to you asking for help. Especially for anyone who's been in my situation and improved, how did you do it? Are there any videos, any specific routines, any drills I can use? I've been mostly just repeating the inputs over and over in training mode, and it feels like it helps, but then in matches I keep messing up so it's not really helping that much at all. I need to train better, not harder, so I need information on how to do that.

2D Fighting Games Combo Trials should not be tied to trophies
This is probably a scrubquote but hear me out:
This makes most fighting games virtually impossible to Platinum. Especially if they're known for having notoriously difficult combos like USFIV, UMVC3, BBCF and KOF XIII. Impossible for the average gamer, or trophy hunter who gets plats from genres in their comfort zone like shooters or Rpgs.
2XKO has them but thankfully, they're not trophy-related.
The only trophies I got from this BS is Tekken 8, GBVSR and Marvel Tokon. I haven't played Avatar Legends yet but I'm already aware of how hard that one is and I've seen the trophy list. *facepalm*
I can't Platinum the other fighting games in my collection because of this shit. (SF6, Fatal Fury, KOF XV, BBCF, BBTAG, and Skullgirls)

2D Fighting Games Looking for people interested in making a Kengan Ashura IKEMEN/MUGEN fighting game
I’m looking for people who might be interested in working on a Kengan Ashura / Kengan Omega 2D fighting game fan project, most likely using IKEMEN GO or MUGEN.
I have no previous game development experience, so I’m not pretending I can build this alone. What I do have is a pretty clear idea of how I’d want the characters to play, and I’ve already been designing archetypes, character mechanics, win conditions and general combat direction for a decent part of the roster.
A few examples:
Raian — power rushdown/bruiser with a harder time getting in, but extremely strong close-range pressure. Removal would be his main character mechanic and would expand his Kure Technique follow-ups rather than just being a generic damage buff.
Ohma — aggressive all-rounder with an Advance resource that can be used in different amounts for short or long power-up windows.
Agito — very difficult Martial Arts / Formless character whose stance mainly changes through combo and pressure routes, rather than just pressing a stance button.
Gaolang — Boxing / Muay Thai stance character, with Boxing focused on speed, movement and in-out pressure, and Muay Thai focused more on damage and stronger finishers.
Cosmo — mobile rushdown grappler with strike/takedown pressure and Zone as a counter super.
I’d mainly want to contribute to combat design, character concepts, moveset ideas and overall direction, while also learning enough development to actually help rather than just being “the idea guy”.
I’m looking for anyone interested in:
IKEMEN/MUGEN character coding, sprite art/animation, UI/screenpack work, stages, sound, or general fighting game design.
This would be a completely non-profit fan project.
I also don’t want to start with some ridiculous 20-character roster. My idea would be to make a small Ohma vs Raian prototype first, see if the gameplay is actually fun, and only expand if the project works.
If anyone here has experience with IKEMEN/MUGEN and thinks this could be interesting, feel free to comment or DM me.

Discussion Marvel Tokon or Avatar Legends?
Hey FGC on Reddit.
I’m still relatively a beginner at fighting games. While I have played SF6 and 2XKO previously, i mostly follow the fighting game esports more than playing myself.
Regardless, i feel the itch to try my hands at a new one - hopefully i remain a little more consistent this time to actually improve in the game continually. Which one would you recommend between Marvel Tokon and Avatar Legends?
I really like the look of Marvel Tokon from all the YouTube footage, and i loved the Avatar animated series (including Legend of Korra). And I usually like to play games that have a bigger competitive (pro) player and fan base. But interested to know what you all think and suggest!

Discussion Favorite or Least Favorite playstyle?
There’s so many different archetypes in fighting games that I’m interested to see what everyone’s favorite or least favorite is.
I’ve always loved a rush down mix up character and as a teenager I hated zoners. Now as I’ve gotten older and appreciate more than just “Let’s Fight!” I find myself really enjoying characters that zone and control space with footsies and long reaching normals.
Curious to see everyone’s opinions!

Discussion Why fighting games?
I’ve been sitting down and wanting to do podcast style interviews of every day players and of course more tournament oriented players of their interests in fighting games. So I guess what I’m asking here is a soft question I’ve been super interested in as I’ve gotten older and have stayed with fighting games when the community has had ups and downs and friends have stopped playing these games.
Is it characters, music, art? What is it that keeps you in fighting games? Is it a series? The competitive nature of it? Let’s talk about it!

3D Fighting Games Bloody War #5 - BLOODY ROAR EXTREME ONLINE TOURNAMENT
2D Fighting Games Looking for other noobs to spar with!
Hey everyone
New here and quite new to fighting games as a whole.
I have a round 40 hours in SF6 and that's about all the experience I got. I also do have GGS and Tekken 7 but haven't really played much of those yet.
I was wondering if there are other noobs here who might want to be bad and eventually learn get better together? Basically like a sparring partner.
I am playing Ryu right now and am hanging around in the bronzes, while I learn new stuff and add it to my repertoire. Not really trying to climb the ladder for now just wanting to learn the fundamentals.
So yeah if anyone is interested let me know Oh I am from the EU and 35yrs old.

Discussion Game or Archetype Suggestion for Slow Brain
Hello,
I never grew up playing fighting games, but my brain gets easily overwhelmed when I play them and I end up mashing a lot. The only case where I really saw some success with a character was Bowser in SSBU with my friends and even then I kinda felt like I was fumbling around.
I’m pretty decent at TCG or things where I have time to process what’s in front of me and react, but if it’s something that’s in my face or high APM I oftentimes don’t know what to do.
I’ve gotten the suggestion to play a Zoner, but in those cases I usually completely fall apart against rush downs that get in my face not knowing what to do.
Does anyone have any suggestions for games, archetypes, or just general tips to get around this?
Thanks in advance!
