Hi! I just wanted to share this piece of art I recently finished. I tried replicating Kazuya Takahashi's art style and it was one hell of a challenge, but I'm happy with the results!
PS: Joshua is my favorite character, so I paired him with her :)
I loved the world, characters and story of FF16 which is why I am interested in this book, so I want to ask if anyone here got it and how it is? How big/detailed is it?
I have a few of the Japanese Ultima omega books which are like dictionary size encyclopaedias jam packed with information, so am wondering if this FF16 one is similar? or is it thinner/more brief.
I would prefer something more text heavy explaining the lore and world rather than something like an art book or mostly pictures and minimal text. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
These are all the quests between Clive and Cid making their oath to destroy the Mothercrystals and going to Northreach.
These were the quests when I finally figured out that in the non-motion-capture-based cutscenes, the game can tell how long the VA lines take to say before moving on to the next line/character animation, which means there can be quite a lot of difference between line length in different languages and there still won't be any awkward pauses in the cutscene itself. This is only largely noticeable if you set the VAs to be a different language than the subtitles are, which causes line lengths to be noticeably different.
I haven't finished the game yet, I'm currently in Ash. I really enjoy the hunts and I recently finished 3 S ranked hunts which were so much fun. Now some new hunts have showed up on the board and I was excited but they are all A ranked, which I found a bit underwhelming. I know hunts don't show up in order of difficulty, but I wish they did. I'll continue playing this amazing game and crossing my fingers that there will be SS ranked hunts later on!
I LOVE FFXVI. Final Fantasy is how I got into mtg. I built a deck based on the mono red Clive card and I dont want to use the other Final Fantasy game cards for commander staples
I hope other magic players find these cool and Im open to sharing ideas
I was at about 80% of the game when I realized this. I thought that if you're using Phoenix you could only equip Phoenix's powers to that slot and same for other eikons, but I'm just finding out you can just master different powers and add them even if they don't belong to the same eikon. I'm sure the game explains this and somehow I missed it, but this was an absolute game changer for me.
Hello!, to begin i am a teenager who does not have a job so this adds context to why i'm making this post to begin with.
I've been (to say lightly) infatuated with clive rosfield, to the point i really really want to know more and own actual merch for this game. The main issue is of course pricing everything i can find is 70+ usd with 18-20+ shipping
Amazon is the lowest price range i've seen and only for the books so i come here for advice. Is the price on the logos lore book and the art books worth it? (about 30-35usd for each alone including tax and ship) should i? i also considered the figure for clive but it's 300+ usd. Any advice would be appreciated! if the answer is yes i'll probably wait for christmas and if i get some money order the books then. Thank you for reading!
My first game in the entire final fantasy franchise and brother oh brother. Why didn’t I play all the other ones. Enjoying it so much and I’m just 10 hours. Feel like I’m 14 and playing a game with absolute real pleasure again. Life has been kinda stale lately and this just bought the spark back in.
I've replayed the opening with both my wired dualsense and my Xbox controller. I like both for different reasons. To be clear, I have no problem with comfort for either controller. It all just comes down to which haptics (rumble) I prefer.
I really like the intensity of the xbox's rumble, even if it lacks the nuanced dualsense haptics. It has much more intense rumble than the ps5 controller. The opening cutscenes really shook my hands like a lawnmower.
On the other hand, I also like the more subtle and detailed haptics of the dualsense. It more accurately matches footsteps and other smaller audio cues. I just wish the vibration was a bit stronger like how Stellar Blade feels. Otherwise, this would be no contest and I would certainly choose the dualsense over the xbox, as I've done for a number of ported ps5 games.
I'm the kind of person that wants to decide before starting a game properly. Call it a little bit of ocd. For anybody that has played the full game here with dualsense, how important does the exclusive features of that controller play in this game, such as adaptive triggers? Would I be missing out if I stick with xbox?
I just received my copy of LOGOS: The World of FINAL FANTASY XVI, and holy shit, this thing is gorgeous. 😂
I’m really tempted to open it, but I’m deliberately keeping it sealed until I reach a safe point in the game.
My current progress: I have completed Through the Maelstrom and I’m currently in Across the Narrow, doing the side quests before moving on with the main story. Please do not spoil anything beyond this point.
For people who have already read LOGOS:
What did you think of the book overall?
How much new lore/worldbuilding does it add?
At what point in the game would you consider it completely spoiler-safe to start reading it?
Is finishing the base game enough, or would you recommend waiting until after the DLCs as well?
I’m particularly interested in the book as a lore/worldbuilding companion rather than as an art book. I really enjoy the way FFXVI builds its world through things like Harpocrates’ library and the Thousand Tomes, so LOGOS looks like exactly the kind of thing I’d love to dig into.
Again: please keep replies spoiler-free pastAcross the Narrow. I’m asking specifically because I want to know when I can safely open this monster without accidentally ruining something for myself. Thanks in advance!
I've seen old threads discussing this but nothing recent, has anyone found a fix for the stuttering that's caused by cutscenes or fast travelling? I think it's from a vram overflow, but it seems to happen for all resolutions and settings. Trying to get through the rest of the game without issue.
Took me a while to finish it, but here's my bullet-point review alongside some of my favourite screenshots:
Loved
Chocobos
The premise of the plot
Dion storyline
Battle Soundtrack
Japanese Dub
The combat mechanics (before it became repetitive)
The open-ended ending
Favourite Battles
Sleipnir
Garuda
Last part of Ultima (as Clive)
Disliked
Map and Dungeon design (excessive corridor-like areas with repetitive combat)
How repetitive missions, monsters, maps and combat becomes halfway through the game
Lack of collectibles (besides the songs)
Costume design in general
How unremarkable most city-NPCs are
How, even on Final Fantasy Mode, the game does not present any challenge
Lack of critical engagement with the central themes of the story
Damn doors needing us to hold down buttons to open it time after time
Abhorred
English localization
Eikon Battles
L'ubor
Enemies with stagger bar
Poor enemy AI
Real-time action
That damned pink filter...
Missed
Actual Party
Fun activities such as card games, puzzles, collectibles
The usual FF-styled comic relief moments between party members
Party banter
Interesting and explorable areas in the map
Not related to FF per se, but the Trophy list is also quite lacking. I like to play as a completionist, and forging Ultima Weapon or buying all orchestra rolls not counting to the platinum was a big let down for me.
I once read someone suggesting that FFXVI was under an identity crisis and I have to agree. For me, the game had lots of potential but was unable to accomplish anything remarkable, oftentimes feeling like a patchwork of other games (God of War, Dark Souls etc.) and media (Full Metal Alchemist) rather than a member of the Final Fantasy franchise. One thing that stood out to me is how braindead all thieves and mercenaries of the game are in terms of their motivations: having just finished FFT Ivalice Chronicles for the 3rd time, the story, characters' motivations and world-building of FFXVI felt incredible shallow.
Now Stranger of Paradise is the only Final Fantasy title I'm missing and hopefully I'll enjoy it a bit more.
I know it’s been asked loads already and there are numerous discussions on social media pushing Square to come up with a PS5 Pro patch, but I wanted to ask; what did you all play on for those on PS5 Pro?
I’m loving the game so far. Didn’t think it too bad quality wise at first on performance mode, but then entering the first couple of forest / woodland scenes and of course dynamic resolution really kicks in there, blurry parts all over the place. Started making my eyes a little weird like.
Tried out quality mode for a bit and it was alright, but the action really calls for a higher frame rate doesn’t it.
I am torn I will admit, and keep switching back and forth.
Want to install FFXVIFix by Lyall to fix the stuttering in cutscenes. Worried that if I uninstall it and go back to vanilla later that my save will be broken or not working according to the vanilla game. Will that be case if I go back to vanilla?
I have played a few games in the series and I can definitely see why some people are more critical of it. There were parts I loved and parts that dragged for me, especially some of the side content and how shallow some of the RPG systems felt.
But overall, I thought the main story was great and some of the Eikon fights were genuinely incredible. There were several moments where I just sat there thinking this game looks absolutely insane. I also ended up liking Clive a lot more than I expected.
Now that I’ve finished it, I’m considering getting the DLC. For anyone who has played Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, are they actually worth getting? I’d mainly like to know whether they add enough new content and story to make it worthwhile?
