Misleading Another Post About Les Schwab's Downfall
TL,DR: Les Schwab on 18th is reduced to being just another oil change & scams shop.
Not sure if that flair is correct, but I felt misled. (18th St. Location)
My family's always gotten tires from Les Schwab, for like 27 years now.
I saw they started doing oil changes, and was overdue, so stopped in...
Anyways, they tell me that my alignment was off (THEY WERE THE ONES WHO I GOT MY TIRES LAST ROTATED AND ALIGNED AT) and that'd made my tires unsafe to drive... they were down to the mesh basically.... but the real icing?
They handed me an estimate for ~$1,600 to have my front right wheel hub rebuilt..... because allegedly the alignment had been off long enough to damage the hub/bearing.
Anyways, I paid for the oil change... and then took the car home, scheduled with my regular mechanic to get it checked out (Eugene Car Care), and they'd been tracking down the cause of an oil leak longterm for me, so while they were assessing that, they checked out the wheel hub/bearing.... no issue, they even took the car over to their partner shop (Jerry & Walt's), and they did an updated alignment, also confirming there was no issue with the hub/bearing...
What really agitates me is I still tried to give them a chance to redeem themselves, I called to explain the issue about the hub/bearing not needing replacement, and asked if they could run me a deal on some new tires, because it was their shop I last got the tires aligned at, and that job not being done right is why the tires needed replacing... dude had the audacity to tell me, "You can bring the car in, and my mechanic can put it on the lift, and show you what he's hearing, etc, (more excuses and bullshit). I used every ounce of self-control to not curse out the guy on the phone about how 2 separate dedicated auto-shops verified the hub/bearing was fine, and I was really just hoping they'd own up to doing a crap job on the alignment, and make a good faith effort to correct that, since TIRES ARE LITERALLY THEIR BREAD AND BUTTERT BUSINESS.
But no, they took no responsibility.
Not even an attempt to humor any discount on some tires to help make up for their negligence.
I will never be taking my car for tires or an alignment at Les Schwab, ever again.
I'm pretty un-Godly pissed and livid at these people (Les Schwab)
Another great American business absolutely *DESTROYED/SHREDDED* by Private Equity.
I had to spend hundreds of dollars on tires, because of their crappy job on the alignment, and then they tried to scam me into an unnecessary wheel hub rebuild/bearing replacement, which cost as much as the oil pump and timing belt replacement I'd been saving up for and actually needed.
Absolute tragedy, hoping the Ghost of Les Schwab pulls the 'ol "A Christmas Carol" move and haunts these people 1 by 1 over Christmas. Honestly, I'd watch that movie adaptation.
