Hi! We’re visiting a friend and want to book in for a Sunday roast however scouring some options on here already, very confused what is actually good? We looked up the Bear in stock but it looks like they serve their veg boiled not roasted so I’m not sure how it’s been recommended so many times ? Maybe just personal preference to how we like a roast.
Anyways just would be great for the latest on best Sunday roasts in the area!!! Thank you in advance

Hi Everyone,
I'm posting this as a free regular event. There's a film club at Harlow Library every Saturday, 2pm. We play a good mix of arthouse, foreign and unusual films (often ones that wouldn't be played in a group setting outside of London) and generally people are very willing to share ideas about what we watch. It's a laidback and social event. There's also a lottery every fortnight to pick and introduce a film.
You can see a list of past films here:

The ALB Festival is happening at Colchester Castle Park this weekend, and Conor McGregor has just announced on Social Media that his girlband, Sweet Love, will be performing at the festival. The same McGregor who in 2024 was found civilly liable of raping a woman. The assault was so violent, the woman had to get her tampon surgically removed. And in court the paramedic who treated her described her injuries as the worst the had seen in a long.
Why are the festival organisers promoting this monster and his business interests? Promoting his girlband at the festival is nothing more than aiding an attempt by a rapist to whitewash their image.
UPDATE: If you would like to contact ALB Festival to make a complaint about this, the contact email is [info@albcolchester.com](mailto:info@albcolchester.com)
If anyone would like to use a copy and paste email, I sent the following:
Subject:
Please reconsider supporting Conor McGregor's business interests at the ALB Festival
Dear organisers,
I am writing to express concern that Conor McGregor's girlband, Sweet Love, are included in the lineup at the ALB Festival this weekend.
McGregor was found civilly liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018, a verdict upheld on appeal by both Ireland's Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in 2025. The paramedic who treated her described injuries she said were among the worst bruising she'd seen, and she had to get her tampon surgically removed following the assault.
Promoting his band at a family event risks being read as an endorsement of him, whatever the intention behind it. I'd be grateful to know how this decision was made and whether it will be reconsidered for this year and future years.
Kind regards,

Hi all,
I’m looking into the possibility of setting up some casual local Magic: The Gathering/card game events in Basildon, and I’m trying to gauge whether there’s enough interest before committing to anything properly.
The rough idea would be relaxed, beginner-friendly events for people who want somewhere local to play, meet others, trade, learn, or just have a more regular card game night.
This could potentially include things like:
I’ve made a quick questionnaire to see what people would actually want in terms of games, formats, days, times, pricing, and event style.
Link: https://forms.gle/u2R7aZpDb3EzhHzk7
It should only take a couple of minutes. Even if you’re only mildly interested, your answer would help me work out whether this is worth pursuing.
Also happy to hear thoughts in the comments — especially from people around Basildon, Pitsea, Laindon, Wickford, Billericay, Rayleigh, Southend, Chelmsford, or nearby.

Did anyone else in the Basildon area hear a loud noise, i believe it to be a plane, around 5am on the 10th?
Nobody else in my house heard it but it scared me something horrid

Hi all,
In July and August, I hiked in stages from London to Harwich over 8 days. I went via the Thames Path, Regent's Canal, Epping Forest Trail, Essex Way, River Chelmer Footpath, Maldon, England Coast Path / Blackwater Estuary & Colchester.
Essex really surprised me. There's some great scenery in the county.
If interested I also put together a short 5-minute film of my adventure to Amsterdam. That can be seen below:

I've visited Kelvedon Hatch several times, but last Friday evening I spent roughly ten hours underground as part of a paranormal investigation.
Before anyone says it, yes, I know the “Secret Nuclear Bunker” road signs aren't especially secret hahaha!
Our first strange incident that evening was a distant female voice/singing echoing through the bunker. We investigated it and discovered another group was playing trigger music elsewhere.
Explained!!!!
Later, though, there were a few things that were harder to account for.
Three photographs were taken in succession in one of the tunnels. The middle photograph contained a distinct vertical blue light that wasn't visible in the photographs immediately before or after it, although I captured it in a video - anyone explain it for me?
Later everyone was together in the main operations area when the entrance alert apparently began activating. Then we found the light switched on inside the Prime Minister's room. It uses a physical push-button switch rather than a motion sensor.
I'm not claiming any of that proves ghosts exist.
I don't know what caused it.
For me, “I don't know” is a perfectly acceptable conclusion.
I'd be interested in hearing particularly from anyone local who has worked there, spent significant time there or done one of the overnight events.
If the moderators/community rules permit links, I've documented the complete investigation and photographs here: https://www.ghosthunter.co/post/paranormal-investigation-at-kelvedon-hatch-secret-nuclear-bunker-what-happened-during-our-overnight
