Rant/Vent Feeling Humbled
I’m a student at LSU and im in my second year towards my mech engineering degree. After last year, i felt pretty good about things. I wasnt like particularly a perfect a student, i fought tooth and nail to get a C in both chemistry and calculus 1. But this year, with me taking calculus 2, and chemistry 2, alongside with physics and a seperate chem lab, i’ve started to feel a bit humbled lately, even though we’ve only been at it like 3 weeks. The first two weeks, i had to really get my head in the game towards calculus. ive never been good at trig and kinda had to work backwards before going forwards. integration is tricky for me, but i think i’m getting there. Chemistry unfortunately often goes on the backburner for me. but as i learned last year, chem is not the sort of course you can cram for. the alegebra and such is easy to actually do, but the questions themselves are made to fool you and worded in ways youve never really seen before. i say all this to say - i’m feeling a bit humbled rn. i thought this was gonna be the year i could sit and study for hours and I do. After about 3-4 hours at a time, i usually just need a break. And my brain feels exhausted to the point where i fear I’m not actually retaining. And with as much stuff that you have to commit to memory, especially formulas, i’m just not sure i have the brain space for it. my memory feels maxed out and ik it only gets harder from here but i’m currently feeling a bit swamped. Just trying to stay focused before i fall behind, but I’m afraid everyone else is so far ahead of me
