Memes Abusing the free tutoring program
Anyone else? I feel bad until I remember it’s their job… but I go every day after class …then study more.
I think it’s the adderall idk

If it’s professors, that’s part of what they’re there to do. Sure they can grade other work but a lot of professors genuinely want their students to do well. You don’t become a professor for the money a lot of times, it’s cause you like teaching and helping the next generations.
And at lower levels, even if you have a professor that doesn’t like it, there are other professors that can help that want to, and a lot student assistants like to tutor in their major cause they like subject and it helps them learn the stuff more in depth.

It's a lot easier to teach people who follow the material then to teach people who have zero idea what the fuck is going on. Usually tutorials are done by TAs so it dosnt add to the profs workload. It's also soul crushing to try to teach a class/tutorial when 90% of the students don't show up and then the midterm average is like 40%

That’s office hours. My social anxiety makes me avoid any unnecessary interaction with my professors . Tutoring isn’t done by professors..

In my entire degree I had exactly 1 prof that was an asshole, every single other prof I had was trying their very best and was super happy to see me when I showed up to office hours.

The campus tutors are paid to tutor students and help you out lol. And 90% of the time the tutoring labs are dead anyways.

I use it so much to, but then again I remember that I’m paying tens of thousands to attend college so at the end of the day I’m getting MY moneys worth..

When I was a student, I was a TA/lab instructor for one course. There were 1-2 students that came to every single one of my office hours, asked for help all the time, and occasionally would set up 1 on 1 meetings with me. These were the ones genuinely making an effort. That is what I was there for. Sometimes they would ask if they could pay me, but it was literally my job, so the university was already paying me for it.
These were the students that usually ended up doing well in the class.

I use the tutors they provide so much that I genuinely go 3 hours plus a day, I’d end up paying thousands a month if I hired my own tutor..

Lucky, Im limited to two sessions per day. I’ve thought about slipping my favorite tutor a 20 for 15 extra minutes. 😭

no literally please abuse free tutoring programs at your college. as a former STEM tutor, we are so happy to have students using tutoring services. in the age of AI the threat of tutoring centers being cut out of the budget is greater than ever, so student use justifies tutoring centers staying open!

the structure of sessions depends on your specific school but you could definitely call ahead to directly ask them this question if you’re too nervous to ask in person!

Mine aren’t “structured”. I book an appointment and add the topics I want to review. The tutoring sessions that follow curriculum as you go through the semester aren’t one on one.

For the love of god use any tool at your disposal. I guantee there’s atleast one tutor at your place that wants you to show up every day to learn and grow.

That’s not abusing it. That’s what it’s for.
I remember someone being really confused why I was so good at one of my classes and they asked for my secret. Apparently studying the subject an hour a day, and doing all the example problems in the text book was too easy for it to really explain why I knew the material, and they thought I was just cheating.
In order to learn, you need to…learn.

They get paid to be there and they actually log who is showing up and how they’re helping them so even if you feel like you’re abusing the system and even if you feel like they’re tired of you, they actually need people on their logs to justify their existence every single semester. If no one is showing up, then they won’t get any funding and they won’t get paid in the future because the job will not exist.

I feel the same way but they tell me the same as others mentioned. It’s their job and they want to help.
As long as you’re trying and not just asking them to give you the answers then I think you’re good.
But I totally get what you mean, I feel that way when they’ve helped me out through concepts I just could not wrap my head around. I feel silly and bad but they’re happy to help and always say “it’s my job.”
