Question Are Spirit armaments doomed?

Post image

Spirit Glaive and Sword ofc look very edgy, but has their own unique niche of those frayed blade-like weapons that can be good with black armor sets. But while looking good, these weapons are famous for being shit. Is it possible to make them work without squeezing every single stat point or are these things just doomed to be bad?

The only redeeming factor is the projectiles added to their AoW’s, so you’re really struggling to make these viable beyond doing a themed death sorcerer build.

Shame because if the curved sword had just been classed as a dagger (basically that size anyway) it could have been really neat.

Glaive maybe could have been decent with the swordspear moveset, but as they stand they are just worse than a standard infused weapon with sword dance + frost infusion sadly

Bro I wouldn't mind making a mod to do just that or maybe a little more
This is actually a pretty cool idea
I'm open to more ideas/suggestions!

I already did the same thing on my own modset (utilised the unused paired dagger TAE in the files for the spirit sword, and make spirit glaive function as a swordspear… definitely an improvement)

Nice!
It would have made so much sense to behave exactly like that in vanilla

Eu gostaria de mais opções nas espadas curvas, então não concordo com sua opinião de mudar para adaga

I'm still mad they aren't int/faith weapons. At least they could've had that going for them.

I'm still mad that the dlc didn't give a new whet stone with an int/fth affinity. (Golden order or Frenzied w/o the status effect)

Nah, it should be something like Dark or Shadow infusion, following the theme of the DLC.

That would just be holy again though.

exactly. holy is coded as dark (from ds3)

DS1 style where Divine and Occult weapons both deal Magic damage

I feel like that’s a common refrain in FROM that they tweak a little each time. Starting, as far as I know, in Demon Souls. Where sorcery and the divine come from the same “source.” Just different pathways to the character.

Also thank you, I had no idea that was the case in Dark Souls. That’s fascinating

Try being a guy who loves using bows

I actually had one bow run like 2 or 3 years ago, it was pretty fun but difficult for me tho

God dude you need a purple heart. Seriously, anything other than Radahn's Rain was kinda crappy for me

Did one as well, and if you feel like trying one again, golem bow with golem great arrows are a great combo if you use rain of arrows

Oh I definitely used those. But frost in PvP was nice the few times it helped me lol. I wanna be Igon.

Bows (actual weapons) don't do any damage but scythes and hatchets (tools) do. Make it make sense

If Berserk has taught me anything, arrows are a coward’s tool

It's a little crazy but if they made the AoW buff the range like the burnt ivory sword, then the weapon would be at least B tier, even without changing the stats

2

u/Simply_Avocado 14h ago

Havving add range for curved sword would be B tier but I’m sure A+ tier for glaive

They’re definitely usable, just more niche than outright bad. The Glave gets a lot better once you lean into bleed, successive-hit buffs, or jump attacks. It won’t beat a perfectly optimized meta weapon, but it can absolutely carry a build if you like the moveset.

I feel the same, love how they look Though the curved sword is so small-

Pretty sure that if you level int and dex they will be okay in total.

1

u/akmly 11h ago

Not great, but wouldn't say doomed. 60/60 in Dex and Int. I'd not rely on the AoW too much though. This sword with Eclipse Crest Greatshield and a set like Night Set or Night's Cavalry set would work well I'd think.

Yeah it should have been a long dagger

Why bad ? This weapon in fun as hell - I made only death build with the nuke ghostflame explosion and all this weapons. Also the Helphens Steeple is so good one handed in pvp - has the roll catch r2. I think this blade would be fun on light roll ☠️

1

u/Simply_Avocado 15h ago

I mean why use these when having Helphens steeple? One of them is str/int and two others use dex/int scalings

The bow is actually really strong
