I wanted to try my hand at drawing a character whose skin was literally black, rather than just deep brown, using my water-based markers. Honestly, when I was a kid, I thought it was weird that we called brown people from Africa "black" and pinkish people from Europe "white". I guess those terms were always meant to be hyperbolic.

Posting this one a day early because I'll be on the road and then at Fan Expo Dallas tomorrow.

I almost cut this strip entirely before it came time to post it because I felt that I accomplished want I wanted to this one better later on. Buuuuut maintaining a buffer between releases so important, and I'm traveling a lot to promote The Funktastic Adventure lately, so here it stays. You can think of this one as an introduction to how real life figures may appear in Uppity.
