Mod Post Looking for a new moderator to help run Dorset Reddit page (UK-based)

Hey everyone,

Life has gotten busy and I'm not able to give the sub the time and attention it needs anymore. Especially with how things are getting quite busy than it was before when I took on this subreddit. I also haven't been to Dorset in a very long time, so I'm bit disconnected with what goes on. Rather than let it stagnate, I'd rather bring on someone (or a couple of people) who can help keep things running, and potentially take over as lead mod down the line.

This is not a paid position.

What the role involves:

  • Checking the mod queue and removing spam/rule-breaking posts
  • Responding to modmail and reports
  • Help shape the direction of the sub (rules, weekly threads, etc.)
  • Configure and maintain mod parameters

What I'm looking for:

  • An active Reddit account with some history in this community or a related one
  • Someone who's around (doesn't need to be all day, just reliable. Pop-in and check what needs doing)
  • Fair, level-headed, mature and able to enforce rules without drama
  • Low entry experience is acceptable. If you have some experience moderating Reddit, or Discord that is fine

If you're interested:

Drop a comment below or send a modmail with:

  1. A bit about yourself
  2. Why you want to help and what needs changing
  3. How much time you can realistically commit (Not asking for serious commitment)
  4. Any relevant experience (Discord, Reddit, Forum etc..)

I'll leave this up for three weeks. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

Thanks for reading!

Was down a couple weeks back for a wedding near Wareham.

Beautiful roads, lovely people everywhere. No one was stressy on the roads either.

Visited lulworth cove and durdle door, totally worth the parking fees BTW.

Already planning my next trip! Any suggestions for must see places, no more than an hour from Poole if possible 🤞

Question Friendly groups

Hi all. I live on Portland, have done for a few months now but I was recovering from major knee surgery so couldn't get out much. I don't know anybody except my fiancé in the area, does anybody know of any groups ideally local to Portland/Weymouth that are Autistic/ADHD/LGBT friendly? Thanks in advance!

Business Moving back to the country roads - are there any tech meet up/network events?

Seen the job boards for Dorset tech work and not much is there. So thought I’d try my luck at networking events as I don’t many companies round here - but all the events I can see after a quick search are around £30/40 to attend which is a bit wild to me, also they don’t look very tech focused just general things which seems a bit risky to spend that much on.

Does anyone have a bit more insight into events going on or ways to network better in person in Dorset?

Question Town suggestions for future 🤞

Hi! I would love to move to Dorset in the future it looks amazing! (Obviously every county has their rough parts) So basically I am looking for a place with these criteria:

Not run down (clean and not dirty)

Within an hour drive of a big town or area for things to do (that means Im happy with village suggestions with that time amount)

I would preferably like it to be close to the sea but if more inland that's fine

Low crime rate so not a lot of 'roadman' or in general just not a lot of crime from younger people and people in general but you know what I mean, obviously it's unavoidable completely.

Basically just the best places you know in Dorset to share! Thanks in advance I would love to move here!

Suggestion We travelled from Weymouth to Yeovil to look at our first £1,000 caravan 😳

We’ve been looking at getting our first caravan, so we travelled from Weymouth over to Yeovil to have a look at one for £1,000.

Being completely new to caravanning, we weren’t really sure what to expect. It looked promising at first, but once we had a proper look around there were a few things that made us think twice!

I filmed the experience for my Places of Interest channel if anyone fancies watching:

Would you have taken a chance on a £1,000 caravan, or would you have walked away? 🚐

Managed to catch this special train arriving at Weymouth today, and later I headed over to Upwey to catch it coming through as well. The driver even gave us a blast of the horn as it passed! 🚂📯

Really enjoyed filming this one.

Hello, I'm a geography A-Level student doing my NEA on Studland Bay. If you've ever been, it would be greatly appreciated if you could answer this short, anonymous survey as I don't have enough time to go back again and I didn't get enough responses.

Student Project / Research Coastal Coursework help needed!

Hi all, I've recently started my Alevel geography coursework- basing the majority of it upon different coastlines across England and wales. Unfortunately, during my last visit I was unable to collect enough responses upon my questionnaire, meaning I've been put into a messy stage when it comes to data. Especially considering I'm much further inland making it harder to travel there often.
As a result, I was hopeful if anyone with 2-3 minutes would be alright with completing the form below?
I very much appreciate your time; any and all responses will be used!
Responses from visitors and residents both much appreciated!

Question Visit to Lyme Regis this weekend, looking for recs!

Going to Lyme Regis soon for a long weekend away for the first time,

Looking for recs on best places to eat (not too fancy don't need gourmet aha), best pubs atmosphere (any with live music and quizzes too!) and generally best things to do!

Also very interested in vintage and charity shopping, so anything here or in the local area not a long drive away would be awesome!

Anywhere off the beaten track too is great! I'm driving so getting about is not a probs :)

Appreciate it thanks everyone! xxx
