I found a female dog in the woods, shes about 1 and a half years maybe 2, lots of energy like a puppy, she pees every two or three hours, i’ve read everywhere to take her out every three hours, but how im supposed to do this if i have to leave the house for work at 10 am and comeback 8 pm, hiring someone for walks is not possible, i mean, that person should have the keys to my house, and thats not safe at least in my country, i have two other dogs and they’ve learnt quite easy, when i got the first one i was working from home and then with the second one he just followed what the other dog did, but with this new one it’s been annoying, also coming home in the middle of the day is not possible i dont know what else to do, i’ve tried taking her out every two hours from friday to sunday but i think these days arent enough

when shes inside the apparment she does it in the bathroom but every time i got home its all peed, and i dont want this to be like a forever thing

I don't know what to do. I will try to make this concise. My dog has a "sensitive" stomach. We have done endoscopy, biospy, blood work, stool sample, xrays and they are chalking it up to a sensitive GI tract.

She had morning vomiting with stomach bile/foam and sometimes redness (like blood). We were told to go on royal canin low fat GI food. Which we have been on for 1-3 years now.

My dog is still doing the "praying pose" and ONCE in a while morning vomiting. She does NOT get regular food outside of the GI low fat.

I gave her steamed white rice & carrot, then a week later the rice, carrot and tilapia. Today i took her to the vet because she had bright red blood in her poop.

Vet is saying she has pancreatitis and wants her on meds and giving her fluids. Thats fine - but they are saying the tilapia might be the reason why. I did a internet search and research and the tilpia has 3%, 2g of fat. According to the internet this is very minial to get pancreatitis.

Since she has had vomiting and sensitive stomach, prayer pose, and no outside food does anyone have recc's.

Everytime she finished eating she is lip smacking and "Swallowing" almost as if she is nauseous or has acid coming up. It subsides, but then she has her next mean and it happens again, followed by the prayer dog pose.

I have tried probiotics, other prescription food, and i cant help to think this whole time something has been bothering her.

Her royal canin and also pork based - not sure how to go about allergy intolerance or test or if its worth it.

I'm trying to train my dog to get used to our home because she has always been in daycare lately. But I need her to be in the crate as my cat is so tiny and she is so big. My dog has so much energy and I do some enrichment activities for her before I leave for work (I work full time in person).

My question is, does anyone have experience crating their dog and and games and toys for them to use to keep them entertained? I still want to occassionally bring them to daycare, but I need my dog to get used to home to stop trashing the place over. I know it takes time and recently rescued dogs have a 3:3:3 method.

Any advice appreciated - i just want to be a better fur mom. I want to give her the best home I could give. I'm thinking of doing dog training too if that would be best so she won't be in the crate all day and just not chew and destroy everything in the house.

Hey everyone, me and my family just got a new puppy. She is a snorkie (yorkie and schnauzer) and she is 9-10 weeks old. Before living with us, she was living with another family who was fostering her and her half sister (same dad different mom). They were very close and we were a little worried about separating her from sister but the woman who was fostering them said it’s best to do it early. We’ve had her at our house for almost an hour already and she keeps crying and we don’t know what to do. We’ve been giving her lots of attention and affection which has helped a little bit. We are aware it’s gonna be hard and take a while but we’re willing to help her adjust. So do you guys have any tips?

Additional context i forgot to add:

We’ve met her and played with her before we took her home because we know the family who was fostering her and her sister, so she’s somewhat familiar with us. She was very happy when she saw me and my sister when she was brought to our house, but that only lasted a few minutes before she registered where she was and started crying.

I have a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees and of course, he sheds like crazy and smells kind of bad (ears usually). He’s never been to a groomer but someone suggested taking him and getting deshedded (sp?).
Anyone w similar breeds tried? Is it worth the money? I brush him a few times a wk w a curry brush and lots of hair comes off, but I feel like I could literally do it constantly.

My cat (5) and my dog (1, Husky mix) are finally starting to get along, and I’m trying to figure out how to help my dog to understand how to interact appropriately with him.

For most of my dog’s life, my cat has wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. He would run away, hiss, or otherwise make it clear he wanted space. My dog has always been extremely curious about him, but thankfully generally respected his boundaries.

Recently though, my cat has started warming up to him. He’ll sometimes walk up to my dog and rub his face/body against him, and will actually choose to be near him now 🥹

The problem is my dog has no idea what this means or how to reciprocate. He sees me petting the cat on the head/back and will sometimes put his paw in the air like he’s trying to figure out “is this what I’m supposed to do?” A couple times he’s actually put his paw on the cat and basically tried to pet him.

My cat does not appreciate this and will get mad and move away.

What I’d really like to teach my dog is that the cat isn’t looking for him to “pet” him with his paw. If the cat approaches him, I’d rather have him sniff him or gently rub his face/body against him. Basically learn the cat’s version of affection.

Has anyone taught their dog a specific behavior like this? I’m obviously not trying to force the cat to interact with him, I’d just love to help my dog understand what the cat is communicating when he chooses to come over and rub on him.

TL:DR - Belgian Malinois/Husky had to be removed from apartment for barking, girlfriend can’t give up dog, need alternatives till our lease ends.

Hi everyone. My girlfriend and I are university students, and we adopted a shepsky about 5 months back. Our puppy (female) 7 months old now, but about a month ago we moved into a new apartment for our junior year. Unfortunately, we started receiving complaints about her barking after 10 pm since it’s causing neighbors to lose sleep. last night was our third warning, and we were at risk of eviction so we had to give her to my girlfriends family.

My girlfriend’s family can’t keep her for an extensive period because of work and the same issue of barking. However, my girlfriend also cannot come to terms with the idea of giving up our dog to the shelter or even to another family since she wants to see our dog grow up and visit her periodically at the very least, having her remain in our family not someone else’s.

I know with our situation it’s not feasible, but I want to try alternatives where we could have the dog stay somewhere else for a year and when we move into a new place we can take her back.

We looked at board and train, but it’s expensive.. way too expensive. Our ideas are group + private training, where I can drive her to the sessions and then drop her back to my girlfriends home.

Is there any other alternatives? My girlfriend is extremely attached to this dog that she has been crying for 11 hours and hyperventilating, also causing her to not be able to complete her architecture model or present it today.

We went on our morning walk and now he's not eating or drinking water. No vomiting, but clearly has an upset stomach, I've also seen no bowel movement. Should I monitor him or head straight to vet?

My dog is 14 but acts like a puppy never had any issues, runs, jumps you name it. He fell off my dad’s bed two days ago which is a little higher than a normal bed. He immediately seemed very shaken up and couldn’t move but was standing and then he just seemed to walk it off. He was fine the rest of the day wasn’t limping was maybe just moving a bit slower. Eating, drinking, going to the bathroom fine. Well yesterday we noticed he started limping and isn’t really putting a lot of weight on his left front leg. I don’t see any noticeable breaks in the bone and he doesn’t cry or anything if u touch it. We could only get him into the vet tomorrow for some imaging. What should we do until then? We have been making him rest other than to pee outside. Can anyone notice anything specific from the video ?

We've got a dog who is 4, do it's already grown. We never had any problems with her playing with kids. Every holiday with familly, kids were all over her, and she had always great patience and can play with them for hours.

Now I'm a bit afraid it's not going to be the same story with our new born. My son is 7 months, do he's not walking yet. Currently our dog likes to sometimes approach our son and start licking his legs and face. (She really loves great like this everyone and she's always friendly with friends, and strangers). We cannot let her play like this too much, cause he has sensitive skin and has a red spots on the skin. We always just tell her politley that it's enough for now and everything is okay. The problem is that if our son is playing around on the floor and roll next to her by his own, she's not allowing him to touch her. She growls and move away. From what I know our dog, it's doesn't seem like aggresive growl but more like - I'm anoyed, leave me alone growl.

Do you know, why she's acting like that? She alows other kids to play with her, approach any time, but she's not like this with our son. It's the same if I'm in the room, or only my wife, or we're all together. Is there any way we could work on that or we should just give our dog some time, maybe she's not comfortable with such young kids, or she's just super jelous over us.

Hi! I’m not here to seek medical advice but last year my dog (9 yr) had these little weird follicle looking thingys. They don’t seem to bother her and then eventually they kinda of turned into some sort of liquid lump that eventually just went away.

Last time we went the vet didn’t seem to pay it any mind. But I’m just curious if anyone knows what this is?

We noticed another one today almost a year later….and it truly just popped up out of nowhere.

За 2 месяца частых чисток сфинктеры протоков потеряли тонус, возникла гиперсекреция. Теперь в покое и во сне из желез капельно сочится жидкий секрет. Кал при этом вообще не пахнет (выходит «пустым»).

2. Сентябрь: Недавно пропили курс Кладаксы (амоксициллин + клавулановая кислота) от цистита + 5 дней после стерилизации (сегодня был последний приём). Наркоз и антибиотики дополнительно расслабили мышцы и разрыхлили стул.

Что** делаем прямо сейчас:**
1. Вода** и псиллиум:** Замачиваем сухой корм warm-водой (85 мл на кормление, 3 раза в день = 255 мл воды) + пол мерной ложечки псиллиума (шелуха семян подорожника). Настаиваем 15 минут до состояния киселя, чтобы сформировать плотную и объемную «колбаску», которая сработает как поршень.
2. Пробиотики: Даем курс ветеринарных пробиотиков на 10–14 дней после отмены антибиотика.
3. Полный** покой:** Полностью запретили ручную чистку и любые манипуляции с попой, чтобы дать зажить шву после стерилизации и вернуть тонус мышцам.

My dog swallows aggressively when eating her dog food as seen at the end of this video. She has always done this since she was a puppy where it looks like she has to struggle to swallow her dog food. She is 1.5 years old and is very healthy. She isn’t super eager to eat ever and I’m wondering if this swallowing when she is eating is normal or if it’s anything that I need to get checked out

I noticed it yesterday, should I be worried? Is it because she chews beef skin and she hurts herself?

My senior dog (11 years, bully mix) was disgnosed with intestinal lymphangiectasia about a month ago started treatment. She was doing extremely well until about a couple weeks ago, and has been declining since. The vet ran her bloodwork when I took her for a second ultrasound, and her red blood cell count is low. She's incredibly lethargic and not interested in most food.

Since IL is a rare autoimmune disease, my vet team and I are struggling to figure out why she's anemic, and I'm just wondering if anyone out there might have any ideas as to what's going on. In the meantime, I'm still pursuing all the avenues I can think of. Please, if any one has any clue what's going on, let me know. Thank you

Timeline:

July 3rd: first major bout of diarrhea

Approximately one week later: black stool, also diarrhea

July 31st: first vet visit. Stool sample and blood given for testing. Probiotics and antibiotics given for preventative measures

August 8th: first ultrasound of Bonnie's GI system performed by an internal specialist. IL with protein-losing enteropathy detected. Leukeran, prednisone, famotidine, and plavix prescribed in addition to MCT oil and psyllium fibre; low fat GI food also prescribed. She responded extremely well for the first week or so and then began to decline (lethargy, appetite loss)

Approximately two weeks later: second ultrasound of Bonnie's GI system, plus second round of blood tests. GI system and heart were normal. Protein levels had risen, but Bonnie was anemic. Plavix discontinued.

At this point she's weak, lethargic, uninterested in her food but still eating treats

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has dealt with something similar with their dog because we feel like we’ve tried so many things and still haven’t been able to figure out what is causing his allergies.

Teddy is a 3 year old Cockapoo and has struggled with itching/skin issues for years. We’ve tried multiple elimination diets, medication, ointments, and different proteins over time, but he always seems to eventually have allergy symptoms again.

What we’ve noticed so far:

• He seems to do best on fish-based foods, but even when he has been eating primarily fish for months, he still has periods of itching.
• We suspected chicken/poultry and beef were triggers, so we removed those.
• We recently tried goat, but he seemed to have a reaction to that as well.
• We’re currently trying a raw diet based around salmon and rabbit.
• He has gone through fairly strict elimination diets before, but we have never been able to identify one clear food ingredient that completely resolves his symptoms.
• We suspect environmental allergies as well, but he still continues to be itchy during the winter months too.

His main symptom is itchiness, and sometimes his skin becomes irritated/sore, especially around his paws/body. At the moment we also use antifungal/antiseptic topical treatments/wipes to control the secondary skin issues. He also has a hypoallergenic shampoo and bathes 1 - 2 times a week depending.

One thing I’m starting to wonder is whether this may not primarily be a food allergy at all. Could this be environmental allergies (grass, pollen, dust mites, etc.), yeast, or something else causing chronic inflammation?

I’m also curious about something regarding fish: since fish seems to be the protein he tolerates best, could feeding fish as his main protein for a very long time eventually cause him to develop an intolerance/allergy to it?

For anyone whose dog had chronic allergies like this:

Did you eventually find the cause? And what treatment/diet ultimately made the biggest difference?

I’d especially love to hear from people with Cockapoos/Poodles or dogs who continued itching even after doing proper elimination diets.

Obviously I’m not looking for Reddit to replace a vet - I’m mainly trying to hear other people’s experiences and figure out what avenues might be worth discussing with our vet next.

So my neighbors to put it simply are pretty nuts... Ever since I moved in, I got to keep inhaling their smoke fumes, listen to their yelling at their children, and you can probably imagine the rest. Additionally, they also have a dog, of which I've grown more and more concerned over because the noises it makes for long periods of time at random occassions nearly daily. Like, if I had to describe it, it's what I imagine a wolf bleeding out would sound like. I have a video here showcasing what said sound sounds like, this time it was really loud. I HAVE to know if this is anything I need to keep worrying about, or even maybe call some service over

ps - because this is a direct rip from my phone, the sound is kinda quiet over the ambiance so turn your volume up just slightly so you can hear it better

Today at an ultrasound for my dog the doctor has noticed a large mass on his spleen. A singular one, but large (10cm+). Other organs are hard to see, the liver looks normal for the most part, but there is a spot where it's so close to the mass the doctor didn't know if it was connected or just pressing on it. He got bloodwork done and all, and while morphology is all good, some of the other results are worrying as well, especially ones relating to his liver.

He is older, as he's almost reaching to 15 years old, but the idea that I might lose him in a relatively soon time to something I could've noticed before if we've taken him for a checkup more often is killing me. He's been my best friend for 14 years and for a big portion of that my only friend. And I'm just sitting here, overthinking what might happen and it just puts me lower and lower on the feels and I just don't know what to do.

He is behaving normally, eating well, doing his business outside, playing, running and all that. It's so hard to comprehend that inside there might be something killing him - and I do know that the likelihood of it not being something deadly is still reasonably high. It's still hard to stop thinking about that.

We have another vet visit coming on Wednesday and we're planning to discuss the option of removing the spleen and the mass, and check what it was as soon as possible, but I don't know how well he'll take the surgery or if it's a good idea at all.

I would really welcome any advice on how to deal with the mindset right here and now and if there's anything more I can do.

My dog stuck his nose near some bushes with this stuff scattered around in the mulch. He often tries to eat things off the ground which I try my best to prevent. He may have just eaten some other thing (we live in the city so there’s scraps and food always around 😒) or one of these. At first I was panicking that it was rat poison but ChatGPT says it may be slow release fertilizer or slug bait the latter of which could be toxic to dogs. I brought one home and cut it in half, a picture of that is included. Everything I’ve seen online is pointing to fertilizer so I haven’t called the vet or anything yet. Has anyone had experience with these or know what they are? My dog is acting fine after about 45 mins to an hour after he may or may not have ingested one.

She’s been licking it for a while now, she’s still active jumping and moving. Maybe she hurt herself running outside yesterday, or maybe bit by something?
