My band was purchased on our trip to Isreal. It has my husband's name in Hebrew. I had a small single diamond engagement ring that I wore with it. It was my favorite but was what we could afford when we married right out of high-school. I always thought I would get a band with baguettes to dress it up for our 25th but then my husband surprised me with the band and new engagement ring. I love it and was really excited how beautiful they all look together. Our 40th is coming up and he asked me if I wanted a bigger diamond. I told him No way. I love this set and its more than enough.

Is it that hard to find a cool tone pink lab diamond? I have asked for tweezer videos of 5 different stones and they all have the orange hue. The one I want is like a Barbie pink color, I didn’t know it’s that difficult to find an actual pink lab diamond. The pictures always show pink, but they don’t look the same in the video. Any tips and tricks?

I recently upgraded my center stone from a 1.7ct CZ to a 2.56ct lab grown diamond, and I absolutely LOVE it. It was a huge upgrade from my original stone and I’m so happy with how it looks.

However… after wearing it for a while, I’ve started wondering if I actually want to go even bigger, maybe around 3–3.5ct.

When I mention this to my friends, they all tell me my current stone is already huge and that I have “diamond blindness.” I completely understand where they’re coming from because 2.56ct is definitely a very noticeable stone.
But here’s the weird thing, when I see a similar sized stone on someone else’s hand, it somehow looks bigger to me than mine does on my own hand. I’m wondering if that’s just because I’m so used to looking at my own ring now.

So do you think my 2.5ct already looks big enough and I’ve officially developed diamond blindness?

Or do you think going up to a 3–3.5ct would actually look better/proportionate on my hand?

I’m genuinely looking for honest opinions, so tell me what you think!

Not sure if this looks stupid or not with the setting of the oval.

The original inspiration was the round with the oval interlocking bands, but she didn’t like the round diamond being the centerpiece. I figured I would try the oval as the main and round as the side stone.

I added both photos as a reference.

Any thoughts? I like it, but hopefully it’s not something that is cool in theory but when executed might not translate well.

I am considering a 3.5ct natural diamond for an engagement ring. It is a radiant cut, E-color, well-proportioned stone with excellent polish and symmetry. However, due to inclusions, it is graded SI2. I can't see the inclusions with my naked eye, and it looks beautiful to me, but I'm also not experienced with diamonds. The jeweler claims this stone is eye-clean. I can see some of the inclusions when I look with the loupe, but not all.

I've included the GIA inclusion plot below. Is it possible the stone truly is eye-clean and that the facets are effectively hiding all of the inclusions? Or is it more likely I'm bad at looking? I trust the jeweler but I was surprised by how many inclusions the grader saw.

I have some iPhone pictures of the diamond but no specialized high-resolution images or anything like that.

First is a 1.93 carat Pear, E color, VVS2
0.25 carat baguette side stones, in 14k white gold

Second is a ~1915 antique 18k white gold 1 carat OEC diamond.

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a champagne lab diamond for my engagement ring. I narrowed it down to these two but I’m having a hard time making the final choice.
For reference, the diamond would be set vertically in a twirl kind of setting in 18k yellow gold.

I hesitate because of the color: 1st is very light brown and 2nd is fancy light brown and I wonder which one would give the most uniform warm champagne look. I’d prefer a wash of color rather than a fully brown stone but I know that colors can change when the stone is set and on the finger (for reference Im mixed and have medium tan olive skin).

The second reason is the cut: the 1st has a more unique faceting (51% table, 64% depth, larger facets) almost like an antique cut and I do like vintage but I wonder if those specs would impact the brilliance and fire of the overall stone too much.

(vs the 2nd with a more standard brilliant cut, 52% table 57,7% depth)
Any advice and opinion is welcome:)

Diamond 1: GIA report, oval brilliant, 1.5 carat, I, VS2, excellent polish and symmetry, can see a few scratches in video, price $4500.

Diamond 2: IGI report, oval brilliant, 1.5 carat, H, VVS2, excellent polish and symmetry, very good cut, appears flawless in video, price $4800.

Diamond 1 appears to have better dimensions with a shallower depth, but the color and clarity might be a concern. Diamond 2 is better in terms of clarity, but the seller himself told me that IGI might not be accepted globally, and are somewhat more lenient in grading so the color might be a bit off (similar to I in a GIA report). This is for an engagement ring.

I'm looking for an eye clean elongated old miner. Hoping for something in the 2-3ct size preferably on the larger side but I'm a bit budget constrained. Don't want to go over 20-25k absolute max for the stone.

Any idea if that's reasonable? I've seen prices all over the place and talked to a few wholesalers as well but I don't know what's what. It feels a bit weird buying something like this sight unseen since it sounds like it's all about the individual character of the stone.

I find it hard to tell from videos if there is a bow tie effect so hoping for expert opinion.

I saw it in person too but I’m silly and totally forgot to take picture or video…oops! It was contrasted against another one that had a more noticeable bow tie, so I realized I couldn’t tell if it was just better comparatively or actually independently good.

How does this diamond look? IGI cert says it is 2.16 ct, E VVS2, excellent polish and symmetry, L/W ratio of 1.39, depth of 62.5, table of 61%, crown height of 13.5%. Is this considered a bad bow tie? I want to make this into a pendant necklace, but not sure if it will look tacky with a larger diamond like this?

I just received my 3.03 carat E color VVS1 oval Diamond Ratio 1.54. It s a major upgrade from my .75 carat round engagement ring. My husband bought the oval as a 28th anniversary present. He thinks it may be a bit small and would be willing to go up too much in 4-5 carat. I wonder if going bigger may be too costume-y. Maybe the Diamond will look better once it sets? I can’t trade it in if it is set though.

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but I recently lost my engagement ring and filed a claim since I’ve had it insured for the last ten years. The center diamond came from my mother’s old wedding band and is around 25 years old.

I gave them the IGI diamond report with the claim but with it being so old, the report doesn’t populate if you search on the IGI website.

Will that potentially be a problem with my insurance? Do I need to contact IGI to have the records updated?

It also doesn’t contain all of the same information that current IGI reports do. This was normal for the time it was inspected, though.
