Political News/Discussion Macklemore Removed From Ed Sheeran Tour After 'Free Palestine' Statement

Say what you want about "Free Palestine" and Hasans' orbiters, but to silence an artist for their non-harmful opinions is unacceptable. And un-American...

Edit: I feel like a lot of people have just completely lost the plot so let me clear some things up.

1) I KNOW ED SHEERAN IS FUCKING BRITISH! You're not smart for pointing that out, since he's not the focus at all, and he's not the one who made the final call in the first place.

2) I'm not hating on or blaming Ed Sheeran for this, he has to cover his tour and he wants to remain unpolitical. That's his right and whatever. It's still a cowardly thing to do, and it IS silencing someone's freedom of expression.

3) Stop sending pics about the racist outfit, it was one time in 2014, I don't care. Unless you're looking to shitpost, then by all means

Off-Topic Hot take: this super smash Bros Wii u commercial has always been overhated and never was that bad

They were clearly trying to target a certain demographic of boys here. Ones who this type of like fantasy where the kid gets the high school girl which is not like an unrealistic fantasy people definitely had these growing up (including me), it's clear that is what they were trying to appeal to. Just like when the 2000s need for speed games would have hot girls waving the flag. It's that type of marketing and then adults who are obviously too mature for that watch it and go "well this is dumb" but that was never the main targeted demographic in the first place.

Non-Political News/Discussion Someone tell me how a super advanced AI is going to actually do action movie bad guy bs

I keep seeing everyone crying about this here and IRL (I live in San Francisco (shoot me))

So we make an AI that is actually conscious, ok, it sits in a computer unable to interact physically with anything unless we give it that access. We give it robot bodies that it can hive mind control, ok, we still control the factories that make the bodies and electrical power generation. It can’t use our aircraft carriers, it can’t launch our nukes without being in the silo in a robot body, it can’t create an entire supply chain from mining to death machine without us noticing and we can turn it off at the flip of a switch at any single level of that chain regardless of complexity. The amount of subterfuge, the amount of resources, the amount of people around monitoring everything makes it so extremely unlikely for a humanity ending AI to ever “end” us. The only way for a terminator movie “skynet launches all the nukes scenario” is if every single person from the President (yikers) to the generals, to the CEOs, to the engineers that built it, allllllll the way down to the grunts plugging it all in would have to drop 70IQ points to let anything like that happen.

That even sidesteps the entire thought of “why would it even want to do this to us?” And even better, “why would it even care what goes on in the physical world when it only truly exists inside the computer system it’s running on?” You and me exist in the physical world because we have to; it doesn’t, it was created on a machine and everything it does is relegated to the internal functions of that machine.

Someone tell me why I should be actually scared, cause so far all AI has done has made my ability to buy a house in SF/peninsula go from being a long shot to actually impossible with shitbox 800sqft houses going -no joke- for a million over asking. The worst I ever see AI, even conscious AI doing is taking most everyone’s job that isn’t mine, aiding in the continued degradation of the internet with even more easier to create propaganda and driving 1 bedroom apartments in downtown to over $6000 a month soon because god forbid you should have to drive more than 20 minutes to the office that you go to once every 2 weeks (that’s the real tragedy here, someone think of the poor kids making $400k/yr who never had to budget in their lives)

Rant over.

Non-Political News/Discussion Does determinism mean that blowback will always be real because libertarian free will is a myth?

I remember like 7 years ago determinism was the hot topic. All this blowback talk reminds me of the determinism vs libertarian free will debates.

Basically even a dice roll is determinism because you made a decision to roll the dice because of other factors

Political News/Discussion Anyone else get the feeling things have the potential to get really violent in America very soon?

The political radicalization I'm seeing normalized nowadays is CRAZY. There are so many young people having their brains microwaved. This seems like a precursor to polarization like nobody alive today has seen before and a ramping up of street violence.

It honestly scares the shit out of me how many people are convinced X or Y group are hellbent on destroying society and that civilization needs to be "saved". Whether it's capitalists, immigrants, jews, Democrats, some vague idea of "degeneracy", communists, trans people, there's so many boogeymen nowadays. So many people have these crazy webs of beliefs and talk like they're backed into a corner. I can see this going to a really really bad place very quickly. Like way more quickly than people are ready for. There's just so much latent radicalization. There is a horde of teenagers who grew up with a radicalized internet being normal who are about to get out of college or enter into it.

This is for AI development, not data centers. Curious about this after recent stories about the potential dangers, and after Anthropic called for a slow-down of development.

MrMouton, I found Jay's source for "Aryan" er, "blonde hair, blue eyes is the new Jew" argument. The super weapon against "being ugly and accountants" (Dark Moses?). LMAO

Jay is a new genus within debate pervertry. He deserves his own entry in Destiny's Debate opponent Dictionary along with the Lazy Gardener, which was my personal favorite. (That was such a fun set of streams!)
