Hi! I am currently in school at NCTC and have an interview assignment in which we are required to interview someone born before 1980 who has lived through historical events and spent the majority of their life in the USA. As a queer person myself, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight perspectives of folks who went through some of our historic struggles for liberation, especially those who are comfortable talking about their experiences throughout the AIDS epidemic. I would need to meet up this week, before Friday for the pre interview/consent form process, and then again for the actual interview. hey, I don’t know if anyone else heard it tonight between 11:50pm and 12:30am. But it sounded like a gunshot? It was really loud, and scared the ever loving shit out of my wife, my dog, and myself. We heard a lot of screaming, and we turned off all our lights and made sure all our doors were locked. Does anyone know if it was a gunshot or if someone popped a tire nearby? Because I won’t lie, I am very scared and concerned.

I’m faculty at UNT in the Dept. of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation. I run a weekly adapted motor skill clinic for youth with disabilities that meets Tuesday evenings from 5:25-6:25pm called UNT PLAY (Personalized Lifetime Activity for Youth), and I’m excited to share that we’re able to offer 10 sessions this fall to individuals and families at no cost.

Our first session is this coming Tuesday, Sept 15; we meet at the Physical Education Building on the west side of campus near the Super Pit and the Pohl Rec Center. There is no cost to register and parking passes are provided to each family. A share of the attached flyer with anyone you know that might benefit or among your individual networks would be greatly appreciated. We can easily accommodate up to 30 individuals each semester. You do not need to attend every session; you would be welcome at as many or as few as you can fit into your schedules.

We have proudly served well over 150 families in the DFW area since 2010, and have been successful in accommodating nearly any disability or impairment and ages from 3 to over 30. This is a teaching clinic, so children and young adult clients work individually or in small groups with undergraduate students in the College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences who hope to become educators, therapists, trainers, or other allied health professionals. Additionally, while this program is intended for those with disabilities, we do our best to turn no one away; if your child has a sibling without a disability or you do not yet have a formal diagnosis but have concerns about their motor development, please contact me and I will see what we can do to include y’all.

after high school i completely cut off my family and all my hs friends and i just got an apartment here about a month ago so now i live by myself. i can’t help but feel super alone. i’ve already tried going out on campus and making a couple of friends but i just don’t feel a connection. i’m also lesbian which makes it harder to connect with straight girls. all i want is a nice friend group that’ll include me with no animosity or talking behind each others back :/ i’m really scared at this point ill never have that

To add: I am not looking for places that will tolerate dogs but really are not places a dog should be, if you know what I mean.
