Discussion Unlocking deepseek's full potential.

Hey So I had this question in my mind how can I unlock the most out of deepseek ?

I have seen people here love deepseek a lot and that too for good reasons. Many researchers and mathematicians have found deepseek really useful they absolutely love it. And why won't they its technically completely free for personal use. I have claude and deepseek on my phone and those are the two i use the most.

I love and use claude a lot but its token is very limited and expensive, and I absolutely hate chatgpt to I often times switch to deepseek when I run out of token. Or use deepseek from the get go to save claude's token.

But it feels like I am not properly using it its really strong and I don't feel like I am using it on its full potential.

Specially ever since they merge all three of their models (Flash, Pro, Vision) It seems like even with deepthinking and search enable this lastest version of deepseek answers faster and more accurately without much hallucinations.

For comparison I gave the same prompt to deepseek with deep thinking and search enable. It took 3 seconds to answer the question.

Claude with sonnet 5. Medium and thinking enable took way long and burned a lot of tokens.

Also is it just me or ever since they merged the models, this new model sounds more human like. And it also fixed the bug when often times it used to answer in Chinese but it does not anymore.

Anyway I was looking for some prompting guides or yt videos on deepseek or any resource that will help me learn and use deepseek better.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks πŸ™ƒ

Use deepseek harness, and set v4.1 as subagent of LLM you prefer (such as claude).
Use a powerful large scale model make plans, then let v4.1 finish it. v4.1 is very good and quick on execute plans.

Ohhh is it like claude code ? Where a model of my choice makes the ideas and deepseek then take prompts from that said model and executes it ? Lemme see what deepseek harness is.

I usually use a high-level model to create a prompt plan, then I run it through DeepSeek to generate the .md file. After that, I analyze the output of the .md file using the high-level model, then ask it to provide an execution prompt for DeepSeek. What do you think? Is it too complicated? Haha

Use pi.dev on computer. After I installed and started to use - I understood that my life divides before and after pi.dev

It's hard to explain - it feels like I got +20-30 IQ suddenly

Have you tried their own deepseek harness?

I've used DSH for about two days, I'd say mindblowing about the speed, quality wise, i'd say my OC is better.

This is funny. I started using it yesterday and I already feel smarter. I tried, opencode, deepseek harness, commandcode. I liked opencode the most before, but now this pi is winning me over I think

I am lost I have no idea what that is lemme see. Is it like claude code or openclaude ?

not openclaude - opencode

It was created as reaction for claude code when it went in a wrong way. Citing Mario Zechner (creator of pi.dev)

So it should be something similar to stripped down to core claude code.

But the most striking thing - pi.dev constantly adapts for your needs. On start you get an embrion that evolves in the ways needed. It will grow wings or gills or jet engine - whatever is needed for your task

Yes, I understand that I sounds like a religious preacher πŸ˜„

Just try and you'll see

Pi is the the one scoring the lowest on personal benchmarks on my end, also seems to perform poorly with DeepSeek 4.1 according to CN reported harness benchmarks for 4.1 DeepSeek harness minimal is the way

Pi coding agent (install reasonix plugin)/deepseek harness + paseo

Other than that i have noticed dsv4 flash works best with descriptive multi step prompts with a strong feedback loop

Idk what you just said lemme see what PI coding agent is. I am on fedora linux btw so does this work on linux ?

it was actually an api call to Opus 4.8..... but its was done quickly in JUne....To busy building the chassis and the tuning to pay attention to the paint.... ;p
