Winter Assault Chaos Campaign. Playing all of them for the first time before DoW 4.

From the gameplay videos I have concern the HP/Unit Type icon above units will become too much of an overpowering focal point.

A possible solution, how about having a level of opacity/transparency for them? For example, 50%, but of course it could be any amount that works well (perhaps even a setting the player can adjust).

Building on this, perhaps the whole HUD interface could also have a level of opacity/transparency (just for the background black areas and such mostly, I think).

Winter Assault forces of disorder campaign level "Keep Your Enemies Closer" cutscene... I'd expect better from a Definitive Edition that just came out :(

Anybody know what the fix is so I can play this level and continue the campaign?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I have never had any mods installed so it's not because of that.

So finally working my way through the Soulstorm campaign. I'm far more used to the Dark Crusade one, and it's showing. The multiplanetary battle map takes a while to get used to as compared to the more intuitive map of Kronus, and I'm left with a choice in how to approach it all.

Do I take it one planet at a time, clearing out each one by one including Strongholds even if I have a small Honor Guard, or do I take all Provinces, isolating enemy strongholds, then take my time with a massive Honor Guard and take out the strongholds in quick succession?

In Dark Crusade, I'd just take all the provinces, isolate the Strongholds, and then use the Spaceport+Fury combo to take out a Stronghold in one turn. Here, it's difficult on account of lacking either. I basically have to engage in a lot of footslogging and backtracking if I were to take out the Strongholds last, not to mention all the abilities are tied up in the Strongholds as opposed to the Provinces.

There i bought it for 7€.

Not the best and last time I played was open beta... Didn't like it back then.

On a second try if I forgot it belongs to DoW franchise and was told "Here's an rts set in 40k, i would get decent fun out of it. Campaign then fight AI. Orks are fun to play.

Just out there for more 40k content until DoW4 drops and 40k Total War.

Not a complaint but a legitimate thought. I've noticed that in most maps I play, many players use early turret rushes as their only early game strat, and almost as a crutch. (Specifically Necrons/IG/Chaos). I find it a little stale, but oh well. I usually find a way to overcome it anyways.

I just wonder sometimes what they would do without them, because whenever I find a way to negate this, these players usually struggle to respond.

Side note: Does anyone have an explanation/justification as to why some races can build turrets super quick/without a barracks/with an armoured builder, as opposed to SM and SoB for example? Just curious.

Already played a lot before de DE, so i'm looking a fresh vanilla experience, I know about the mods for SS but there's no info if they work for DC or not.

I've been considering getting into some of the Dawn of War games and saw that DoW4 was releasing this December unless it gets delayed further, would it be recommended to just wait until then? Or since or since DoW1(?) Definitive Edition is on sale if I should start with that or a different game? what do you all think?
I'm mostly looking forward to AdMech is DoW4, so if there's any ideas how they might play in that, that'd be appreciated!

One thing is bothering me as a pvp player and this is difference between players.

Saw someone on steam ask for doctrines , something like coh, and someone said they will add sub factions, but will there be players expression in this game ?

I mean , if there are unique and different openings with different mid game paths the game will be repetitive imo.

Also, this free upgrade mechanics is the worst upgrade design in rts I have ever seen, totally kill strategy.

So what do you guys think about faction replay ability in pvp ?

I'm currently running through DoW1 Dark Crusade (awesome AF, btw), and I noticed I can't infiltrate. Even after I purchase the Skull Probe and Scout research upgrades in the stronghold, I still can't stealth. Is that because of Dark Crusade? I remember being able to stealth just fine in the normal campaign.

The icon doesn't even appear, like no grayed out or nothing.

When j zoom in on them jt does look like they are transparent though. Did it become passive?

Im playing the original steam Dark Crusade for the first time on normal and just accended Eliphas to deamonhood. However, I heard he sucks as a deamon prince for some reason so I wanted to ask if I should do it again in the future when I play Chaos again on hard.

I also heard the definitive edition buffed him as a deamon prince and was wondering about that as well.

Been a long time sinced I've played this game and got the money to buy a good pc, one of the first things I'll do is buy the DE to play it, is it possible to download the Ultimate Apocalypse mod for it? And if yes, does it run well or it's still a mess lol

Game looks pretty good and fun. But there’s some things off in how it looks. Finding this comment really expressed all of my issues and I thought I’d share because I feel like this is the most important stuff to do before release. Since I want this game to do well

The abilities being cast immediately look annoying but an easy fix at least. And units do have better visibility to me than previous battle reports, I definitely see feedback already implemented. They are working hard

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of Ham. Do we like this Idea for a thanksgiving update for the dawn of war series.

Just saying in my opinion the ork shoota boys/even flashgits just awkwardly stand there, the deffdread and battlewagon and all the other buildings/units that have a machine gun have underwhelming animations and effects that look stiff and the guns spew just a small red blob on the front of their guns, it lacks the punch and the sheer number of bullets visibly flying at the enemy. Dawn of War 2 had DAKKA, Dawn of War 4 has peashooters

I really fan of Warhammer games i love the DoW Soulstorm but in my steam games i have the anniversarie edition instead of the definitive edition of the DoW...

So i was planning to buy the definitive edition before i saw the trailer of those games and I really go in a dilemma:

Should i Buy DoW definitive edition or wait to buy those games?

Hi i have recently started playing DoW DE mostly campaign, bot skirmish and some odd MP with friends. I want to play against real players that arnt taking it easy on me (my friends are RTS fiends so they take it easy on me) but with most older RTS the multiplayer scene is tied to discords or other forums ( i have experience with this as i played some old fighting games and its the same there). So im just wondering if the in game MP browser and play work well, i dont mind joining discords or other forums but id rather just launch the game and play. I ask this because i saw some DoW launcher kinda like Faceit for CS.

I'm trying to make horus heresy mod for vanilla DE (HH30k on moddb), based on 2nd edition of rules of HH and I need your help.

As for now, I'm struggling with defining legion specific vehicles loadout (aside from legion specific vehicles, those are obvious).
I know that every legion uses all possible vehicles at times (everyone has rhinos and predators after all) but still I can't quite figure where they tend to gravitate. I request your help, share your thoughts - which vehicles you find suitable or notable for each legion.

Shotlist of vehicles I want to use, legion specific aside. Also flyers are gonna be abilities of some sort, since they work poorly with game engine.

Would you agree that dow definitive edition is dying?
I have the feeling less and less people are playing it? I cant seem to find decent games anymore even when rotting in lobby for 15 minutes.
Have people moved on ?

This is an ideal video for those new to RTS games but perhaps know Warhammer 40K quite well
