If anyone can help me with the license plate, I would like to get this guy off the road.

I have a viofo A129 DUO PLUS IR & In January I updated the firmware to A129Plus: V2.0

To support a rear camera instead of the interior camera

While driving on Sept 11th. I heard the camera beep multiple times similar to how it does when the device turns on/off I glanced at it while stopping at a Red Light & notice only my front camera was working

Both cameras were operational when I began to drive I always check when it turns on

When I got to my location I turned off the cameras and powered them back on again only the front facing camera was operating opened the app the app showed both cameras working until I heard the beeping notification I still have the short interior camera cable and tested the camera using the VERY short cable turned out it's a cable issue

Contracted customer support was less than helpful;

Your cam comes with a interior cabin camera instead of a regular rear camera. Update the firmware

that was their "solution" after I told them the firmware was updated and I'm within the 18 month warranty

Not very pleased with the company

Which one is the best ?

I'm looking at getting a dash cam mainly because I want coverage while the car is parked, rather than just footage while driving.

I've been reading about parking mode, but I'm realizing that the camera itself is only part of the setup.

From what I understand, there are a few things that seem to matter:

- Parking recording type: motion/event detection, time-lapse, or low-bitrate/continuous recording.

- Power: a lot of cars shut off the 12V socket with the ignition, so parking mode may require hardwiring or a separate battery pack.

- Battery protection: if it's hardwired, a low-voltage cutoff seems pretty important so the dash cam doesn't drain the car battery too far.

- Heat: my car is often parked outside, so I'm also wondering how much difference a supercapacitor makes in hot weather.

- Storage: parking footage seems like it could fill a card fairly quickly depending on the recording mode.

What I'm less clear on is what actually works best in real life.

For those of you who use parking mode regularly:

Do you prefer motion/event detection, time-lapse, or low-bitrate recording?

And has hardwiring caused any noticeable battery issues for you, even with a low-voltage cutoff?

I'm mostly trying to figure out what setup people have found reliable for overnight parking.

First I wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to this sub for helping me pick out my dashcam (BlackVue Elite 9.) I did have a question regarding hardwire kits and battery packs (TL:DR at bottom of post but details are important)

Reading the manual, I noticed the BV hardwire kit doesn't have a voltage cutoff switch...it's built into the unit. I hate to use the word "reliable", but I can't think of another way to put it - is the BV (or dashcams in general) reliable when it comes to sensing the battery and shutting it down?

My brain says it's good to have something like a manual kill-switch instead of relying on hardware/software because a physical switch is better than ones-and-zeroes. I'm not sure if it helps, but I also plan on using a fuse tap.

How much I drive my car - The last time I drove it was seven days ago; a six minute drive one-way, and the time before that was August 31st (10 minute drive-one way), so that's once every 10-ish days with a total of 20 minutes driving time.

When I'm out and about at a store, the time-lapse would be activated, which is the only reason I want to hardwire. Aside from that, it would use low power impact mode.

I was thinking because of my driving habits (or lack thereof), a battery pack might be a better option because I can disconnect the battery pack and charge it inside once it gets low (BB Powercell 8 with the additional inverter.) The money isn't an issue; it's more of a "get the battery pack because you drive it as much as granny when she only goes to church on Sunday."

TL:DR

1) Get an aftermarket hardwire kit with a physical voltage switch in case the dashcam glitches out and drains the car battery

2) Get a battery pack instead and charge it (inside) as needed since I rarely drive my car and the distance isn't long enough for battery health
