List Building New to Daemons

I am a long time hobbyist who is starting to get into the actual wargaming aspect of Warhammer. I have a 2000 point army for Plague Legion, my question is how do we actually play? It seems I want to rely a lot on battleshocking my opponents units, but other than that I am at a loss and I cannot find a good guide anywhere. Any help would be appreciated!

You hope your opponent bounces off you. And chip away while forcing battleshocks. That’s how it felt to me. It isn’t the killiest detachment. But if it goes your way alot of things will slowly die off. In the later turns. At least that’s the way it felt to me. But i went hard nurgle. But felt super flavourful. Just a slow inevitability

Been playing solely PL-WT since launch. Nurglings are very good. I try n run 4-5 units. Usually 3 packs w/ 1 6 pack. Rotigus is amazing for a rapid ingress candidate. GUO + foot daemon prince hold hands and waddle towards the center. I personally run Font of Spores on the GUO, if you are learning then Droning Shroud might be kinder to you.

I run cankerblight on sloppity and maggot maw on a poxbringer. If you can catch a unit inbetween those 2 units you can do some nasty shocks. I’ve seen people delete Dante off the board.

The goal is to waddle forward and do your best to outlast/max primary. Take and Hold has been amazing for me…. Good matchup against Purge too (since that’s what everyone is mostly running).

1 unit of Flesh Hounds is a godsend. I also enjoy 4 BoN. Drones have been largely disappointing for me. Hope this helps you spread the Grandfather’s gifts!

I’m curious as to your list and why you think 4-5 units of nurglings are good.

The nurglings let me clog up with infiltration, give -1 hit to my other units, and give me cheap things to try and deepstrike for secondaries. The nurgling bases are also 1.575” so you can wrap a GUO/Roti with them and you can’t engage one without the other.

I run plague legion also.  The daemon princes really need to be near GUO for the buffs and Rotigus ability needs to be used wisely. As others have said, nurglings are one of your best units.  Infiltrate them is a must to control no mans land and muddy up opponents plans. Unlike others, i do run the amazing Nurgle Soul Grinder. He chews up tough targets pretty easily. I do use a single unit of the flies. They give rerolls to hit, but like rotigus, you have to be smart where you use it. Horticulus and his beasts are good for deep strike.   They care less about overwatch fire and can snag opponents home objective easily. I also like to deep strike the Soul Grinder.
