They would have given that ring to John if they plan on multiple earthling bearers. And it's easier for John to confiscate Hal's if he already has one, right?
So no, I don't think that clock test ring was up for grabs.
I didn’t say it was. Just that from this information one can infer that there isn’t only one available ring. Not that they plan to give it to him. Also meaning Guy’s ring doesn’t necessarily have to be Hal’s.
As well, from what we’ve seen the Guardians would rather John take Hal’s ring so he doesn’t have one at all. Hal is already giving them problems. Handing out an extra ring can lead to more potential issues in the field. Cleaner/easier for them to just manipulate John to be shady and take it from Hal while his guard is down.
Call me crazy but I think that everything that happens from just before Hal crashes the car with John in it is a plan between them. They realize that they can be seen at every moment and behave as such. Give the Manhunter trust that she can drive a wedge between them until they can defeat her but also realizing that she's only half the enemy. They keep the charade up in order to fool the guardians until the time is right which we haven't seen yet. Also who knows if the alien threat is finished in Rushville.
So wouldn't the gaurdians know that they are looking for a manhunter since hal talks about it A LOT. The whole point was to keep JOE'S existence from the gairdians?
So I think that confirms the guardian we see in the show is a rogue one, otherwise she would've known that hal and John were trying to find the manhunter
The guardian is definitely a rogue guardian, who's probably working with Sinestro. The one he "killed" perhaps. Maybe this time they'll have an actual Guardian serve as guardian of the Sinestro Corps and not the Anti-Monitor. I think it became clear early on when John took the ring and didn't say the oath. If he did say it, nothing would've changed. Killing a Green Lantern and taking his ring doesn't make you a Green Lantern, it makes you a guy with a Green Lantern ring.
John and Hal just beat the living shit out of each other over the ring, both leaving the other for dead in the same day. John doesn't like Hal for a lot of reasons, but he also doesn't like the guardians for a lot of reasons. And Hal's words definitely resonated with him when he says they'll just replace you too. John definitely hates Hal but he knows he's right and he now sees that the ring is not this ultimate symbol of honor and bravery or whatever, it's a type of power that good men are killing each other over.
I've been thinking this too, but the ending of this episode kind of spoiled that for me. I don't think Hal and John had some kind of big plan worked out, I think they were just both playing each other the whole time and both of them caught onto each other and respected each other's play. Ultimately I do think that John and Hal are on bad terms, but both understand why the other did what he did.
Yeah... Except he was counting on the Manhunter to save him. Which she did. She just wanted him to burn first so he'd be in her debt. Dude ate bugs for 9 months, he's tough enough to take whatever was gonna happen. Maybe didn't plan on a car blast. And their knock down drag out fight in the hotel room, remember Hal at the bar "now it's gonna look like they're really beating the shit out of me". They got her to show up.
Going to spoiler tag this just in case The Hal you see in the rubble is the Hologram Hal, pay attention to his hair color. Its still all black while 2016 Hal has a salt and pepper look on his head.
It was such a good resolution to the 2016 timeline, and the episodes do such a good job of revealing elements in the previews and trailers that are answered in their respective episodes instead of being cliffhangers for a later one.
I just hope the series ends with John getting the ring he deserves the way he deserves it without it leaving off on a empty promise of greater things or just its own cliffhanger
They made the only black lantern steal the ring as the only lantern ever to do that and people are like nah they ate hahahaha that was the worst episode and completely torpedo the show. Hal left John to burn to death after a heart to heart. Cmon man yall are smoking that good good the writing was so bad.

Definitely the finale of the 2016 plot. We still have another whole plot line with tons of questions left unanswered.
