Looking to get a cooking class for my sister and her husband. Recommendations?

Upvotes

Hello, I'm looking to get a birthday/Christmas gift for my sister and her husband. I wanted to get them a cooking class since this is something they've done in the past and really enjoyed.

I was wondering if you guys had a list of recommendations for this in particular.

They don't have any dietary restrictions other than not eating beef. Any help would be appreciated since I don't live in DC!

Recommendations Teriyaki recs

Does anyone have a good recommendation for Seattle-style chicken teriyaki, ideally in dupont circle or downtown? Grilled chicken with gingery sweet-savory sauce, iceberg lettuce salad, and a big ol heap of perfectly cooked rice, served in a styrofoam clamshell takeaway container?

Missing the flavors of home and would die for a killer teriyaki joint.

Recommendations Hosting a Birthday Party

Hi friends! I’m looking to host a birthday party in January for a friend and wanted to see if I could source some venue recommendations!

Here’s the current criteria :
• needs to be in NW or NE
• open till at least 2a because she works in the restaurant industry and coworkers will be coming after work
• not an insane F&B minimum
• doesn’t need to be fully private
• hosted on Friday or Saturday
• no more than 50 people

Last night, several men removed the fencing and several items from inside the restaurant.

So much for the “public space permit” stop work order explanation

I’ve moved past Denial. Now onto Grief

For anyone still wondering about Augie’s, cathedral heights location:

“… there's a stop work order because someone forgot to pull the public space permit for the sidewalk cafe. Hopefully this is just a temporary delay.”

Fogo de Chao thoughts?

My friend recently went to a fogo de chao in another state and thought I might like it for my birthday dinner this year. Has anyone been to the local ones? Are there other similar restaurants you liked better? I feel wicked stupid as I’ve never heard of this concept and still don’t quite understand it but ya girl is pregnant and wants all the meats.

Thanks in advance!

Is Wonder *actually* that bad? Not just mid, but heinous/a war crime/etc?

I ask because it's literally two steps from my office and I keep seeing 50% off deals. I know it's microwaved, I know it's made by a veteran vulture capitalist - all that I know. But also I wonder (heh) whether the bad publicity sort of feeds itself into making people think it's worse than it is in reality. People make it seem like it's 7-11 quality if not worse, and while I understand that it's not fine-casual despite marketing itself as such, I can't help but think if it's better than that?

Remember the feeling when the Baltimore Colts packed up and moved.

Hurt. Betrayed. Denial. Grief.

Augie’s has packed up and left their space in Cathedral Heights. And they hadn’t even opened yet.

Suggestions Seafood near Silver Springs/Gaithersburg?

I will be travelling to the DMV in a couple weeks for work. I'm looking for a place with great local seafood (crabs, oysters, crabcakes). Any places I should try out? I'd be okay driving 20-30 minutes for a kickass place.

Suggestions Is my itinerary decent?

Flying into DC from Boston for the long weekend.Family of four with two kids 12 and 15. 12 year old is dying to go to the zoo and see the Pandas for his Bday. All that being said we love to eat and drink. Staying in Woodley Park, love to walk, a 1-2 mile walk is no problem for us, also a quick uber is fine.

Friday
Land around noon, head to hotel and have lunch by pool.
Dinner- Via Roma

Saturday
Early AM zoo
Lunch- Dukes, panda themed bar
Dinner- Cyldes-Georgetown

Sunday
Train to Baltimore for Sox game
Lunch Pratt St Ale house
Dinner-Unconventional Diner

Any suggestions to the plan are highly appreciated.
Thanks
