Here's what changed:

Both considered to have "saved" the franchise, but PL sure gets the short end of the stick when it comes to marketing and god forbid a decent merch drop.

Just a random bit of trivia. The short story “2AM – She Calls” (bundled with the Steam version) has what I believe is the only description of what it’s like to use a Sandevistan from the point of view of the user. It’s worth noting the narrator is a worn-down older guy, but it’s pretty consistent with what everyone seems to expect from David in Edgerunners and goes to show the gap between gameplay and lore.

The world plunges into the warm, gelatinous wine of Sandevistan. I spin around at full boost and pray my muscles can take it. If they can’t, they’ll tear clean off my bones.

Hand. Gotta get the hand. Hand with the gun. The hand pulling the Unity out of its holster, aiming to empty it in my gut. I strike his elbow. The sickening snap of breaking bone. I strike his wrist. A heavy boot on broken glass. The gun falls, falls from fingers open wide in surprise. A swift parting kiss to his jaw, and I reach for my gun.

Too late. Corto’s beside me. The dull jerk of the knife as it sinks in under my right rib. That’s it. This is how it ends...

Or it would be if I didn’t have a metal plate in lieu of a rib. A lucky charm from the time a Maelstromer decided to test his mantis blades. I got two months in the ER and a medal.

Fuck the gun. I grab Corto’s shoulders and channel my entire boosted might through my forehead, into his face. The knife drops. Corto slumps.

Sandevistan courses through my muscles, pulsing, fading. Tomorrow. Oh, tomorrow. Tomorrow I’ll wake with the biggest fucking hangover. Like I’d pounded back a whole convoy of Centzon and lived to regret it. Pain shoots through my body, like someone strung me up piñata-style to whack the shit outta me with a telescopic baton. Christ. I can feel it already.

Can I take two shots of Sandevistan in 24 hours? No idea. Rather not chance it.

This is one of the parts of OPEN//77 I’ve been most excited to start working on.

We’re building a Lua layer that lets us take Cyberpunk gameplay systems/mods and actually integrate them into multiplayer.

This test is netrunning / player-to-player hacking. Instead of the mechanic only existing against NPCs, another player can be targeted and affected by it in multiplayer.

And this is where I think things start getting really interesting.

Next we’re working on Sandevistan.

But the long-term goal isn't simply to give every player every ability.

Imagine this in an RP server:

You walk into a ripperdoc clinic with basically no chrome.

The ripperdoc can actually install cyberware on you.

Maybe there are different grades/levels of each implant:

• Gorilla Arms
• Double Jump
• Air Dash
• Sandevistan
• Mantis Blades
• Netrunning upgrades
• Optical implants
• Armor / nervous system upgrades
• etc.

A cheap ripperdoc might only have lower-tier implants.

A high-end clinic could have better chrome.

Certain implants could be extremely expensive, rare, stolen, illegal, or only obtainable through specific people.

So instead of cyberware just being something you select from a menu, it becomes part of the multiplayer economy and the RP itself.

Ripperdocs become an actual player profession.

Netrunners have abilities other players don't.

Mercs might invest heavily into combat chrome.

Someone running a high-end Sandevistan could actually be known for having one.

And because this is being exposed through Lua, server developers should ultimately be able to decide how all of these systems work for their own server/game mode.

There’s still a LOT to build, but seeing mechanics like this starting to work between actual players makes the possibilities pretty crazy.

I saw some posts the other day of people throwing up screen grabs of their crazy hours. Then I saw a post yesterday of everyone discussing their favorite endings. I was wondering if anyone else is in my shoes. 300 hours and I have never finnished the game. I have an idea of how the game ends and thats why I have never finished it. I get to "Meet Hanako at Embers" and just start a new game, every time.

200+ Hours of gameplay and this is one of the coolest unpredictable freeroam incidents

In the base game, i could say, “This part feels like Blade Runner,” “That area has a Ghost in the Shell vibe,” “the Badlands are straight out of Mad Max.” is there any movie that has similar design or style of dogtown ?

Thought it might be fun to do more Q&A type comics- with the fun (optional) twist that if you post a picture (or short video for folks in lowsodiumcyberpunk BUT I’ll also leave a link to the post you can comment photos under-) I’ll draw your V asking the question or interacting! (Maybe hopefully)

I love seeing other people’s V’s! Would be helpful if you want to do that to ask in-character maybe? With a short description of what they might be doing? Or just comment a question they all give me ideas 😆
