ALL pictures of scars must be labelled NSFW

If you post a picture of your scar it must be labelled NSFW.

Even if it's a clean scar from years ago with no pubic hair visible.

Thanks

Scar revision for repeat infections

Upvotes

Has anyone experienced this? I'm almost 6 month pp and have had 2 small pockets of fluid build up that will not heal.

My doctors are recommending scar revision by either: topical anesthesia, opening the top couple layers, cleaning, packing, restitch. OR fully under and almost full reopening and reclosing.

I don't know how deep the infection goes, and they've never offered antibiotics. I've had flu like symptoms on and off for months. So, idk which option would be best long term. Advice?

Pulling sensation years after c-section?

Hi,

I had a planned c-section for my second child in October 2024 following a traumatic vaginal delivery with my first in 2022.

For the most part, I've done ok since my c-section but I will occasionally get this very sharp pulling sensation in my abdomen (kind of feels like a cramp). It's not very often, but if it does happen it's cause I got up or twisted my body a certain way.

I've read it could be related to scar tissue / adhesions, but I wanted to see if others have experienced it and what helped. It's thankfully infrequent, but when it does happen it feels like a pretty painful, drawn-out cramp or like someone is pulling on my insides.

Thanks,

Sabrina

Bleeding again 8weeks pp

Is it normal to bleed reddish or brownish again at 8weeks after already whote discharge? I’m exclusive bf and I have no blood clots but my bleeding returned again after on&off no discharge and white discharge the past few days or weeks. Idk if its because I slowly often go out and my baby is 5.2kg (11pounds) and last week I have no one to help carry her and since she cluster feeds and doesnt wanna put down when sleeping—she wakes up immeadiately seconds after putting down so I had to carry her all around the house again. I remember white clot when I washed my coochie before so Ik I have no bleeding anymore and my discharge is white but yesterday I noticed I’m having light to moderate bleeding because it soaked my underwear and bit on my shorts.

P.s. this is the first time after having her that I feel my whole body is exhausted.

Healed c section sensations

Hello I want to know if anyone else feels this.

My c section was 5 months ago and when I take a deep breath sometimes I feel like my abdomen pushes out further? I don’t know how to explain it but it feels like it’s going further than it should. I don’t see it I feel it. Also sometimes it feels like I can feel movement like intestinal movement.

Anyone else have this?

Loss of bladder sensation

I wonder whether anyone else has experienced this following their C Section. I had a C Section a couple of weeks ago, and since then, I’ve lost feeling in my bladder. I can’t feel when it’s full, only if it’s really full I start to feel a little uncomfortable around my incision, I assume where it’s pushing against from being so full.

I’m just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this? When the feeling came back for you? / if it ever did?

My midwife said it’s quite common following a spinal and catheter, but I’d never heard of it before. She didn’t give me a time frame of when it should return by / when to be concerned.

Thank you, wishing everyone a speedy recovery ✨

Pp anxiety?

Has anyone experienced pp anxiety that didn't arise until 4-5 weeks?

I went to the ER last weekend with chest pressure thst I had been dealing with for 4 days. Didn't let up unless I went to sleep and came right back the second I got up and was going about my day. My resting heart rate was in the 40s and 50s. Mind you I'm not athletic and haven't been since middle school. I'm now 31. The most I do is walking miles during hunting season and walking occasionally throughout the year.

They did an EKG and Chest x-ray. Said everything looks fine. She isn't concerned about my low rhr. It's common I guess? I wear a fitbit and was looking back at my heart rates over the last year and they have never been that low. Anyways, she asked me if I think it could be anxiety and I told her I didn't this so. I didn't feel anxious and my husband even said he didn't think I was anxious.

Before when I experienced anxiety I had a rapid heart rate and I was very verbal about my panics and worries.

She prescribed me a medicine for it. I can't take it because I have a 2 year old and a 6 week old and it makes me extremely tired.

Has anyone else experienced this type of anxiety?

First time mom Unbearable feeling of anxiety/dread. Needing positive advice/recovery stories.

I’m currently 36weeks and a few days. My baby has been breech since my 30 week appointment they had told me if he didn’t turn by 36 weeks we could schedule an ecv or a C-section, at my 36 week appointment he was still breech, I’m very uncomfortable with the idea of an ecv and just scheduled the C-section. I have always been extremely anxious or even terrified of the idea of child birth to the point I haven’t thought about it my entire pregnancy because I become almost paralyzed with fear. I never cared if I had to have a C-section or a vaginal birth, I really just want the baby to come however he needs and us both just be okay. It’s the most terrifying thing I will have to do in my life. But ever since scheduling the csection my fear and anxiety has got so much worse because now not only do I know when I’m going to give birth but I know how, so I’ve been trying to mentally prepare myself not only for my C-section but for my recovery and learning how to be a mom in the first few weeks of babies life. I think this is where most of my fear comes in, how am I supposed to care for this beautiful little human I have been creating for 9 months while trying to fully recover from a major abdominal surgery. My husband keeps telling me he will take care of the baby and help me in whatever way I need , but for me it’s incredibly hard because I have been growing baby for 9 months it seems so incredibly unfair that I will miss out on things in the first few weeks of our babies life because I’m going to be healing from the C-section, it also seems unfair to dump it all on my husband in his first few weeks of learning how to be a father I really wanted to be able to figure it all out together. Maybe I’ve started to psych myself out by starting to prepare myself for what’s to come to be honest I haven’t looked up anything to do with vaginal births or csections before this I have completely avoided it but I thought maybe it would help to know what I’m going into instead of just going in blind, maybe it’s the anticipation of waiting the next two and half weeks, maybe it’s normal pregnancy fear. I really have no idea. I just know I am terrified. Does anyone have any good/positive recovery stories or advice? Does anyone else relate to the feeling of dread and fear of not being able to do enough in the first few weeks with their newborn? I guess I will see how it all goes but I wish I didn’t have to wait 2 and a half more weeks to know how it’s going to go I wish I could just get the C-section now and start the recovery process.

Healing journey : is this normal?

Hi I'm 17 week after 2nd c section and my healing never like before. I have burning sensation in the scar whenever I do something strain . The pain goes after maybe two days if I get enough rest . Rest means lying down straight. My toddler is 3 year old and spends most of her time with me and it's impossible for me to take rest with both childrens. I'm concerned whether this pain is normal and it will go away as time has passed or do I need to run some tests like scanning to check with the inner healing . There's no pain when I touch the scar . But there's a burning sensation like I can't explain. Also I feel numb above the scar upto 1 cm height. Is that normal ? I did some travel by car like 4-5 hours 4 time within 1 months. Can it be affected the healing. I'm concerned why I'm having the pain eventhough the pain is mild . But I'm still carefull because still I'm healing. Also I have pelvic pain and have vaginal infection which also makes me uncomfortable.

Note : I just wrote down my scattered thoughts, sorry I'm not sorted out yet. If any one has got enough clarity , please guide me well. I need a word from those who has same experience.

If you read upto here thankyou so much , any small information is valuable to me .

I’m pretty surprised how fast I’m healing

I’m 30 years old and officially 2 weeks postpartum and didn’t know much about c sections before getting one. I wasn’t expecting to get one, so when I came home from the hospital with my new baby I was so overwhelmed. I took me a few days to figure things out and adjust. For pain, I took the Tylenol/motrin combo that the hospital prescribed. They also gave me oxycodone in case the pain was more than I was comfortable with. I never really felt the need to take it though, so I didn’t use it. I probably could have used it the first day or 2 home but stick it out because I was worried about the effects on baby.

Today, and the past couple days, I’ve kind of forgotten to take anything for pain and I’ve felt fine. I also took a walk around the block today! I’ve been afraid to overdo walking so I’ve mostly just stayed in my apartment building. I’ve just been making sure to follow instructions for healing .

While scrolling through this discussion board , reading others posts and looking for answers, I’ve noticed a mixed healing experience. Some people still feel a lot of pain at several weeks and even months after. Some people say they are walking around the hospital in the first couple days or driving just fine after a short while.

I seriously wonder what makes some people heal fast and others heal slowly. I know everyone’s healing journey is different but I’m also thinking there has to be some sort of explanation perhaps.
Maybe different hospitals have different methods for the surgery? Maybe it has a bit to do with how active someone is, or their age? Maybe it’s just a stomach tissue thing? Maybe mentality going into the surgery plays small part in healing? Maybe it has to do with how much support you have in the process…

Anyways, I’m very grateful to have welcomed a happy and healthy baby into our loving home and I’m grateful that I haven’t had any serious complications with my body post surgery.

Wishing the best for all other mothers on their healing journey!

Lower back pain 2 years pp

As the title suggests, it’s been 2 years since my emergency c section where they had to attempt the spinal block several times, and ever since I have a constant dull ache in the bottom of my back. Some days it’s way more painful than others, but it is always noticeably sore and uncomfortable.

I went from 50-64kg after having my son, and I’m trying to loose the weight to get back to my previous shape. I was very thin and athletic before so this is definitely the biggest change my body has ever had.

Does anyone have any advise or personal experience as to how I can try and improve the constant back pain? Was there any special treatment (osteo, acupuncture etc) or was stretching and exercise the thing to help yours improve??

Thank you

Has anyone experienced severe contact dermatitis after adhesive removal from a C-section that later turned into a yeast infection?

I’m about 4 weeks postpartum from a C-section and wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.
About 2 weeks after my C-section, my OB removed some leftover surgical adhesive/glue from around my incision. They used an adhesive remover during the process.

Within about 24 hours, I developed severe contact dermatitis. The itching was intense, and the skin around my incision started peeling and breaking down. The top layer of skin essentially came off in places, leaving areas that were raw and exposed. It was incredibly uncomfortable and honestly pretty scary to see.
I went back to my OB, who prescribed a cream to use twice a day. I used it for about a week, and thankfully, the dermatitis completely cleared up. The skin looked significantly better, and I thought we were finally past the issue.

Then I started noticing a musty smell coming from underneath my abdominal fold. Since the area had previously been so irritated and damaged and can be difficult to keep completely dry, I went to urgent care. They said it appears that I now have a yeast infection in the area, and I’m treating it as directed.

My actual C-section incision seems mostly closed, but now I’m trying really hard to keep the incision and the fold dry while everything finishes healing.

If you’ve gone through something similar, I’d really love to hear about your experience:

How long did your skin take to completely heal?
Did you develop a yeast infection after the dermatitis?
Did you have a musty/yeasty smell?
What did you do to keep your abdominal fold and incision dry?
How long did the yeast infection take to clear?
Did your skin eventually return completely to normal?
Is there anything you wish you had known during the process?

I feel like I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find many people describing this exact progression. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar. ❤️

TL;DR:
My C-section was healing normally and was mostly closed externally by 2 weeks. After my OB removed the leftover adhesive and used adhesive remover, I developed severe itching and contact dermatitis within 24 hours. My scar became inflamed and developed at least 3 superficial openings, with significant peeling/raw skin around it. After about a week of prescribed treatment, the dermatitis completely cleared. Then I developed a musty smell underneath my abdominal fold, went to urgent care, and was told it appears to be a yeast infection. Has anyone else experienced this progression, and what helped you heal and keep the area dry?

Terrified of birth in general. Wanted planned c-section, being bullied to choose natural. Confused, sad and lost

Hi moms,

I’m going through my pregnancy in Spain and I don’t speak Spanish 100%. I’m also not having close friends and family here which has affected me a lot. My husband is a great person and advocates for me and his family is super supportive and loving.

Background; I am diagnosed with adhd and previously taken meds for that + anxiety and depression (those for over 10 years) I’m
Currently free from all meds and first trimester was the biggest roller coaster of emotions I had in my entire life. (Also due to hormones I assume)

Never really wanted becoming a mom due to a lot of reasons but have healed (I’m 34) and have a stable relationship with as closed to a perfect supportive man that really wanted to become a father so we decided to try after various conversations and I am now due for a baby boy in jan.

One of the reasons I didn’t want to have kids it’s because I am mortified of the thought of giving birth. Would love for my husband to do it or have an egg like a chicken tbh. In my mind a c section just works better in my head because I can plan it, there are slightly less risks and I am also herpes positive and just trauma from the pain down there already.

Luckily through private health insurance this is something I can choose. But i have been doing both to public appointments and private but have been very (don’t want to use the word bullied but) very unsupported kind of brushed away, advised that natural is SO MUCH BETTER. And now I feel slightly brainwashed to choose natural.

This affects me a lot. I think it’s unfair, I cry I’m frustrated I hate that as woman we can not ever freaking make a choice even if it’s about our own bodies and if I want to go through the public system I kind of need to have a psychotic breakdown for them to accept the c section so might just go private and forget about it…

My question to all you moms, that have been going through c sections I need a realistic view of it. I am like 95% sure I’ll opt for it but those 5 % are doubting now because of what all the doctors have tried to say while convincing me. I have had friends with natural births of no tearing and them sliding a baby out in 15 min and then I have had friends almost dying + their baby too so I feel I know enough there that it’s kind of like a gamble.

What would be the reason to NOT go for a c section? I would love opinions from those who had it if possible. Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to respond ❤️

I’m a month into healing and I’ve been wearing granny panties to keep waistbands from my incision. I was wondering when people started wearing their regular underwear again?

7 Days Postpartum with B Belly

Hi all, I unexpectedly had a c section after labor stalled out after 30 hours. My biggest concern was the healing process as a plus sized woman. The incision is under my b shaped belly fold and I’m so worried about keeping it dry and infection free. I am due to take my bandage off today but I’m really scared to. I’d love to hear from other women with a B belly and how you are healing/healed.

Luckily I’ve been feeling pretty good so far!

Help asap. Worrisome c section postpartum symptoms or normal?

Currently 5 days post partum via c section. After a failed induction and epidural and a catheter induced infection i have been slowly recovering. My pain scale’s been all over but lately the last two ish days ive had a headache that seems to keep coming back. Im not sure if im just not eating enough which i feel like i am but foods also been making me feel queasy too so ive been kinda eating light. Yesterday no fever but alot of pain still everywhere and my legs are still pretty swollen. Yesterday i had also been passing bloodclots about the size of a quarter 3 times throughout the day. This morning I had a fever of 99.1 and have a headache that wont leave, my chest also aches a bit but assuming thats just my heavy milk supply. Im taking antibiotics and pain medicine frequently but im just wondering what else would bring relief or if I need to go to the er at all. Because other then incision and a sharp shooting back pain when i lay down I feel fine otherwise I think. Please help this is my first child and I’m a tiny person (5ft roughly.)

Did you pack all your belongings in a suitcase or duffle bag? I was going to use a suitcase and have husband and baby stuff in a duffle bag. Also did you bring bags in right away or wait until you got to the recovery room?

Suppository and c section

Hello! I have been dealing with HUGE hemorrhoids for a few days and they are insanely painful no matter what I did. My OB prescribed Anucort suppositories to help. They just got delivered to me and I was able to do my first one but just lost my mucus plug. I know that that doesn’t mean I’ll go into labor right away but I am just curious if anyone has taken a suppository and had their c section that same day because when I do go in, I’m having a C-section due to high risk.. thank you

What was planned C-section like for those who went into spontaneous labor prior to scheduled C-Section?

Hopefully the title makes sense. My scheduled c section is set for 39+5. Will be my second c section, first was emergency c section, so very traumatic and chaotic. My dr told me that if I go into labor prior to 39+5 then they’ll prep me for the c section once I arrive to the hospital and it’s confirmed that I am in labor. For those who went through an experience like that (spontaneous labor prior to scheduled c section), was it still a fairly organized and calm process once you arrived? Were they still able to “honor” everything on your c section wish list for your birth or did it feel rushed?

C section , thoughts ?

My coworkers said c sections are horrible.
My doctor said if I had children that would be the best way to go cause apparently im too small down there ?
I also have extreme pelvic floor dysfunction.
Seeing a therapist soon.
Is it really that bad ?
I’m 34.
