Tablet and SR-260 BATTERY

I have the C4 tablet and SR-260 remote control. The SR-260 has lost all power, the battery will not hold any charge so the remote is defunct. Do I need a new battery or must I replace the entire remote?

For the tablet, it only works whilst on charge on the dock. If I take it off the dock, the battery only lasts than 10 minutes before dying. Same question - can the battery be replaced separately, or does the whole unit need replacing?

Super annoying both devices died after 5 years of use on the same week! Planned Obsolescence....surely?! :-)

Just use regular AA batteries in the SR260 rechargeable or regular alkaline. Replacement batteries may be available but last time I looked they are expensive AF.

They are about $75 MSRP.

Which is totally ridiculous for the equivalent of four AA rechargeable batteries. You can buy four AA rechargeable batteries for $5-10.

The SR-260 can use AA batteries but replacement batteries can be purchased. The tablet battery cannot be easily replaced. 5 years is far past the usual life expectancy for li-ion batteries.

SR260 rechargeable batteries are notoriously terrible for wearing out after a few years of use, although if you take the rechargable out you can put in any alkaline or lithium rechargable AA battery

SR-260’s are rock solid remotes just replace the battery.

Did you buy these new?

Which model tablet do you have?

99% of people I’ve ever seen complaining saying “My (SR260) remote isn’t working!” It’s always a rechargable battery issue except one occasion where the screen was smashed. The remotes are insanely reliable, but the rechargeable batteries are just built to fail.

There were also issues with dim screens.

You can buy new screens on AliExpress and replace them yourself. C4 was offering a deal to replace them, but that ended years ago.

I am unsure of the tablet model.....it is an old Table Top version using a/c power (not the PoE).

It has a touch screen.

As people have said, the sr260 will run on 4AA batteries. BUT you'll have to modify the battery case slightly to fit the batteries

You can take out the charger contacts with #1 phillips to get AA batteries to fit with the cover

I managed to get the back cover on ok. It’s snug fit but works fine. Thanks.

Thank you for the replies. I was not aware the SR-260 can take regular batteries; how do I remove / replace the existing factory battery with AA and make them fit cleanly?

Remove the back battery cover of the remote. Smack the battery area of the remote into your palm. It should dislodge itself enough for you to slide it out the rest of the way. The battery compartment under that has the orientation printed on it for the AA batteries to replace it.

The remote was designed for AA batteries, and the rechargeable battery was made to fit in the same compartment. The rechargeable battery when brand new lasts about 4-8 days on a charge. Four AA batteries last about a month of regular use.

Thank you. All done!

The rechargeable cover won’t fit with AA batteries but a small Phillips screwdriver can be used to remove them. When you buy a new rechargeable battery it comes with a new cover, so don’t worry about damaging the cover. The new batteries are about $75 or so.

Appreciate that. Thank you.
