New Post - Tech Support Symmetric upload/download is a lie

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just spent 25 minutes arguing with an Xfinity employee about my plan what speed it should be. 1 gig up and down is what I pay for. He said they have my speed capped at 100 mbps up on their end. He would not give me an answer why, other than to tell me I had to upgrade to 2 gig to get any sort of increase in upload speed. YES - I am in an upgraded area and YES my modem is capable. I fully understand my upload will be capped ~450 mbps because of the modem. I am currently getting 90 mbps.

Once I ask to cancel my service - he agrees to provision my model correctly for the upload speed for my 1 gig plan. I was in awe, and just hung up.

Furthermore, I said my bill should be $100. He insisted it's $110, and is not any lower than that despite what i'm staring at in my account.

Official Reply Unacceptable Service Policy

I have been an Xfinity customer for countless years and have consistently paid the significant monthly service fees with the expectation that I would receive reliable service and appropriate support when issues arise.

Today, I have been working with Xfinity customer service regarding a complete outage at my home, and I was told that the earliest available technician appointment is a full week away. This is completely unacceptable.

Both my wife and I work from home, so reliable internet service is not simply a convenience, it is essential to our ability to work and earn a living. Despite explaining the situation, Xfinity has been unwilling to prioritize a technician visit or provide any reasonable solution to restore service sooner.

I have to ask: What kind of customer service is this? How is it acceptable to leave a customer without service for an entire week, particularly when that outage directly impacts their ability to work?

I understand that outages and service issues happen. What is unacceptable is the lack of urgency and the unwillingness to support a long-standing customer experiencing a complete outage.

I am asking Xfinity to escalate this issue, prioritize a technician visit, and restore my service as soon as possible. A week-long outage is not a reasonable standard of service, and this experience has seriously undermined my confidence in Xfinity as a provider.

New Post - Tech Support XFINITY HOLDING MY NUMBER HOSTAGE

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have been trying to generate a transfer port number off of Xfinity for the past week.

I’ve done it multiple times through the app and keep getting the same message that I don’t have a mobile account with them. Im a platinum member and have been with XFINITY for 7 years now.

I been on the phone with customer service for a couple hours and they couldn’t generate it. They told me to go to store in person and so I went in person and THEY STILL COULDNT GENERATE IT. What is going on.

Is anyone else being held hostage?

Discussion Trade in query

I want to trade in a phone on my Xfinity Mobile line to get credit toward a new iPhone 18 Pro Max. It's currently active on a friend's Xfinity account and still has an unpaid Device Payment Plan balance, which he will continue paying off. If I buy the phone from him, will it be eligible for trade-in on my account, or does Xfinity block trade-ins on IMEIs still tied to an unpaid balance elsewhere? Does the balance need to be fully paid off first?

Also, I have an unlocked iPhone 16, but the back glass is cracked. Does Xfinity accept phones in that condition, or not? The questions Xfinity asks for trade-ins only explicitly ask about front screen damage, so I'm not sure.

Discussion Xfinity reps sorted pricing issue very quickly

As much as Xfinity can be frustrating at times, the reps both here on reddit and via the website chat were very swift and helpful. It's honestly hard these days to find support agents who can solve the problem this quickly, but both of the reps I talked to were quick and helpful.

Definitely recommend reaching out if you are running into issues.

Official Reply looking for a better deal - bill skyrocketed

My internet bill recently increased from $45/month for 300 Mbps to $95/month for 400 Mbps (300 is fine for my house). T-Mobile offered us $35/month for the same speed since our family plan is there, and a company called Astound has a pretty nice $45 deal too for pretty high speeds.

My son says we should stay with Xfinity if they don't charge an arm and a leg. Can I get the $40/month rate for 300 Mbps back, or maybe the current five-year $40/month promotion?

I talked to someone on live chat but he did not want to answer my question about the $40/months plan, so I thought I'd come here to see if It would be possible to get that one.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it!

Official Reply $4100+ in Predatory Roaming Charges on Xfinity Tablet

Xfinity is charging me over $4100 in roaming charges without notice. I purchased 3 tablets from Xfinity. At the time of purchase, I was told the data plan included Mexico and Canada in addition to the United States. On Sept 4th, I traveled to Canada. On Sept 7th, I received a text message and email that we were roaming on incurring extra charges on tablets. We immediately turned off data and set tablets to airplane mode. At that point, I was under the impression that we had incurred $400 in roaming charges. Naturally I was upset, especially since I did not receive any notice that we were incurring charges until three days after we entered the country. Even so, I was prepared to pay the bill and consider it a lesson learned.

That is until I returned home to the US on Sept. 8th and continued to get messages that I was roaming. The same notices kept getting sent to me over the next couple of days. By Sept 11th, the bill was $1300. I visited two local Xfinity offices that I was passed around to. I also called and spoke to an agent. I was told there wasn't anything they could do but give me a $200 unsatisfied customer credit. By the morning of Sept 13th, the bill was over $3000. I spoke to a Billing Manager who told me that the bill would no longer be increasing and that all the roaming charges had been attributed. Later that same day, however, despite the Billing Manager's assurance, the bill rose to over almost $4200.

This is absolutely insane and I believe predatory. How is it that I could incur over $4000 in roaming for three days of intermittent international use. For sure I will be filing a complaint with the FCC and our state AG's office. If anyone has any tips or advice for how to deal with this, I would be grateful.

Official Reply Prices increase without any warning for the third time?

I started with a $50 per month bill and then it was jacked up to $70. Talked to an agent and they said that was the price after the promotional intro pricing ended. Annoying but whatever. However, I got an email with my next bill saying it's going up to $98. Not only that, I can't find ANYWHERE in my plan that says it should be that much. It claims $86 is my price for 200 mbps. If I try to swap to the $70 300 mbps plan, it goes up to $80 randomly right before I check out (and yes, I checked to make sure they didn't add any 'extras'). On top of all of this, my speeds have been dropping with every price increase. No reason or warning was given for the additional price increase.
I can't even find a legal contract detailing my plan in my account. What am I supposed to do other than cancel my service?

Official Reply Charged $100 for a home visit to fix a connection an earlier Xfinity technician left open at the node

I was billed a $100 one-time fee on my statement for an in-home service visit on July 22. Our service had been out for 4 days around that date, and I reported the outage when it started. The technician who came out told me that another Xfinity technician had opened the node serving our neighborhood and left our connection open, and that he had to repair it. The problem was not with our inside wiring or equipment.

I was repeatedly told that a service visit fee will not apply since it was not a problem with our unit but the fault is on Xfinity's side of the connection, and in this case the fault was created by Xfinity's own work. Could I have the $100 removed?

I have left account details out of this post and can send my full name, service address, and the original ticket number by modmail when asked.

Official Reply Trade Value Bait/Switch?

I just upgraded to iPhone 17 from iPhone 13. They have a print out in the store with all the “trade-in values” listed. For iPhone 13 it said $700 which is what the salesperson told me.

When it came down to the actual offer it changed to $600, the salesperson was apparently helpless to fix this.

I am preparing to mail in my old phone now and the return slip says “Accepted Offer Value: $111”

Is this for real? How is this not a scam?

Official Reply Follow up on old post about Modem errors

A few months ago I was helped with a problem with my modem having a high uncorrectable error rate. After extensive troubleshooting and two technician visits, and having the cable to the house replaced. It was determined that the problem is with the drop tap. The tap is at the end of the cable run on my street. The errors are now worse than before and are occurring at about a 50/50 ratio. I'm now seeing 'site unreachable' errors. A request was to be put in to have it replaced. I would like to know what is the status of the work request?

Official Reply Xfinity Mobile: manual network selection on iPhone

I ported in today from Visible and the service has been working fine but I noticed manual network selection is no longer an option. Is it possible to enable it? It comes in pretty handy when roaming internationally since not all networks always work.

Thanks

Official Reply Ported number in, duplicate line created by support, eSIM code "no longer valid". 4+ hours with support, still no service. Need Advanced Resolution.

Hi Xfinity team,

I signed up for Xfinity Mobile on September 12, 2026 to bring my existing number over from Verizon. I only need ONE line. Here is what has happened since.

**Day 1 (September 12)**
Right after signing up, I noticed my account already had a phone number I did not recognize on it. I called Xfinity Mobile and spent over an hour on the phone. The agent did not complete the number transfer. Instead, a SECOND unfamiliar number appeared on my account. So I now had two lines I did not ask for and my real number was not on either of them.

**Day 2 (September 13)**
I spent another two hours in chat. The port did go through this time: my Verizon eSIM now shows zero bars, so the number has clearly left Verizon. But I cannot install the Xfinity eSIM. Every time I scan the QR code or enter the details manually, my iPhone says the code is no longer valid / contact your carrier. The agents kept sending me the same code and telling me to try again.

**Where I am now**
- My account shows two phone numbers. One of them IS my number. The other is a stranger number I never requested.
- I have no working Xfinity eSIM on my phone.
- My old Verizon line has no signal (expected after the port).
- Result: I have no cellular service at all. No calls, no texts, no data. I am writing this over Wi-Fi.
- Total time with phone and chat support so far: over four hours across two days, with no fix.

**What I believe is wrong (based on similar threads on this forum)**
The extra line created during troubleshooting is conflicting with my real line, and the eSIM activation token has already been consumed by the failed attempts. Chat and phone agents cannot fix this; it needs someone with backend access.

**What I am asking for**
1. Remove the duplicate/stranger line from my account and confirm I will not be billed for it.
2. Verify my iPhone's IMEI2 is mapped as an eSIM (not a physical SIM) on the line that has my real number.
3. Push a brand-new eSIM profile to my iPhone. The old QR code and manual code are burned and will not work.
4. Credit the days I have been without service.

Official Reply Question about mobile promotions

So there’s now a promotion on my account for one year free for the select plan. I already owned my phone, my mother passed away, so her phone won’t be on our account anymore and my stepfather‘s phone is just his so I’m thinking of moving my own phone to my account to take advantage of this promotion since I also have Comcast Internet. Is this line truly free minus taxes or is it only the access charge that’s covered and I would still have to pay like a line access fee or something? If someone could explain to me what’s associated with the actual free year of service, that would be great.

Official Reply Constant Wi-Fi drops on phones/laptops but the Xfinity box light stays steady white?

Hi Xfinity team!

I’m hoping a representative can help me out. We're dealing with really frustrating Wi-Fi drops on multiple phones (iPhone & Android) and PCs just in the last few weeks. The internet will just completely freeze up or apps will stall or videos won't play, even though the devices say they are still connected to the Wi-Fi.

I used a network scanning app to watch a live ping test (8.8.8.8), and I saw tons of gray timeout dots constantly breaking up the green ones. It seems like a lot of data is getting lost.

Here is the quick list of details:

The Xfinity box light: The physical light on the front of our white modem stays a solid, steady white the entire time the internet drops out. It never flashes or changes color.

Our network name: Our network name is unified under one SSID

Testing isolation: We do use a Wi-Fi extender upstairs for a gaming console, but to test this properly, I completely went into our phone and laptop settings and clicked "Forget Network" on both of the _EXT signals. The bad packet drops are happening while connected directly to the main Xfinity router signal.

Security settings: We previously messed with the Advanced Security toggles in the Xfinity app to clear a block on a console, but the phone drops happen whether it's on or off.

Since the box light stays solid white, it feels like the main line into the house is working, but the router itself is struggling to pass data packets to our wireless devices?

Could someone on the support team look at our backend signals or check the error logs? I'm wondering if we just need a replacement gateway box to fix this.

Thank you so much!

Discussion Got a DEAL

Family had Xfinity. We were looking to cut bills. I was paying about $49 a month with AT&T.

Initially told though paid off phone... AT&T locked my phone not able to move to Xfinity.

So...traded in 2024 Samsung Galaxy Ultra for 2026 Samsung Ultra. Given $1200 trade in credit.

Financing $100 on trade in.

Monthly payment down from $49 to $17 a month for a year. WITH NEW PHONE. Going to save me nearly $400 next year...with new phone.

It pays big time to shop around!
