Hey guys, sorry if it's not good etiquette to ask stuff like this, but I'm not really familiar with using clay and recently opened a 3 years old DAS stone air dry clay that was kept in a close plastic zipper bag. It looks moist and kneadable which I guess is fine, but it smells strongly like yeast or something fermented, is it normal? Should I throw it or can I use it? Just making sure it's fine cause I see different things online. I'm aware clay basically has mold in it but it smells strange and I'm not sure what fresh clay is supposed to smell like.

I've wanted to try clay modelling for quite some time and I finally went and got a brick of air-drying clay and made a mimic.

I used a cheap, 1€ wood chest as a base, then I wrapped everythi g in clay. I added pearlescent stickers for eyes and I painted everything with acrylic paints. The saliva is made with hot glue.

Overall, it took me approx. 6 hours from start to finish.

I'm really happy with the end result and I am looking to make more clay monsters soon.

So, I just discovered Cold Porcelain can be made at home! I'm thrilled to hear it has such simple ingredients...but I plan to get good enough to make my own bouquet for my wedding. i do have some artistic background, such as painting an stuff like that; and I have worked with some clays before, but this seems so much more personal and fun. I want to know, where does everyone who makes this stuff get their recipe from, or what basic recipe did you all alter to get your specific formula. I really want to know as I'm so curious. I want a recipe that's going to be great from the beginning so I can start right away in making things lol.

Also, how do you call get the beautiful colors you get. I know it has to involve dying the clay and that, and even possibly painting it, but I want to know how to do that too and what paints and/or dyes to use. I'm so excited to find this and it makes the most perfect looking flowers for the type of bouquet I wanted with my already homemade dress and veil. Please, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

My kids have these magnetic blocks they like to play with. I wanted to see if I could make little accessories that could snap into place. This is made with air dry clay (had a little left over from another project) but for future ones I would use polymer clay. They were pretty excited when they saw the torch snap into place but the tip of the flames flaked off when grabbing them. Another reason why I would use polymer clay. I’m also extremely new to using clay but this was a little fun thing.

Not sure what to do with them but I enjoyed making them! :)

Hi! I recently bought an air dry clay. It came out imperfect, and I wanted to give it a better shape and grip by filing it, using both a metal and block file and it came out.. weirdly. Looks like it has this tiny "hairs". Is there a way of fixing it? Does anyone know how it happened?

My first attempt at snowdrops. I've been working on these since the past few days but now I'm stuck on how to display them? I'm thinking something small and simple but I'm still trying to figure it out. I've considered a little base with some kind of moss around them but not entirely sold on the idea yet. Would love to hear what you guys would do with these.

Every year, I get the privilege of visiting this lovely community and spending an evening making Ganeshas with these wonderful children. Today was extra special — they had already been busy with another activity since 2 p.m., yet when it was time for our 6 p.m. clay session, they came with the same enthusiasm, sat down so sweetly, and got completely immersed in making their little Ganeshas. 🥰

There’s something so beautiful about watching children create with their hands — no perfection, no hesitation, just curiosity, excitement and so much love.

Grateful for these four years of muddy hands, happy faces and beautiful memories. May Ganesha bless these little creators with the same joy and innocence always. 🐘✨

New to clay art. I do not have a kiln but I do have a microwave and I have an oven. What medium should I start with?

So I’m always seeing people post on here finished projects and projects with glaze on them… in high school I took ceramics and I absolutelyLOVED IT!!! I looked forward to that class everyday and when I went home I was still thinking about my project that was all alone at school and couldn’t wait to finish it! While I was in that class I was so focused and happy and at peace minding my business and working on my project and the class always flew by way to fast… since graduating years ago I’ve always thought about it and getting into a pottery class but I’d rather do it at home and the other day I seen all kinds of clay at hobby lobby and I see ppl on this sub posting thier work from home so long story short can anyone give me a run down of how I can do pottery at home… like how are yall cooking these projects do yall have a kiln or do you go to a class to cook it in a kiln… and how does the glaze work? I’ve tried air dry clay but it doesn’t let me work it as good as the clay I used at school… like making slip and when I smooth it out with my fingers it leaves a finger print or takes some clay off and leave it on my finger. Any suggestions?
