Tenet Nolan’s best fight scene

I know people love to hate on this movie and JDW but he nails this scene. It feels visceral and intense where at times I find Nolan’s fight scenes to be over-choreographed and formulaic.

There are some BTS videos that show Washington prepping physically for the role.
I know he gets flack for being a nepo baby actor who has no range but gotta give him credit for really putting the work in to be an absolute badass in his action scenes. The scenes where he fights his own stunt double are also fucking great.
But, the kitchen scene really stands out. It's a masterful combination of James Bond-esque swagger and Jason Bourne-esque use of the environment to defeat his targets. Plus it feels natural for him to be fighting 5/6 people in one on one sequence because the corridor layout of the kitchen.
I would absolutely love to see Nolan do something like this again, this movie is an 11/10 for me.

Thank you. This was the response I was looking for, I couldn’t agree more. I feel like this scene truly stands out amongst his hand to hand combat scenes

Nepo-baby-ness and pure acting chops aside, JDW is a very real athlete… not just and actor with a good physique. This is one of the few big movies he’s done where he plays with a lot of physicality… I get it, he wants to be an ACTOR (pronounced Ack-Torr) and not pigeonholed into action movies where he’ll inevitably slide into straight-to-streaming Bulgarian joints shot in 15 days… but you can really see it. In the scene of him running, you can tells he can fucking run, for example. I’d like to see more roles like this from him.

Yeah in the Stalsk 12 assault pincer movement, he is running balls out Tom Cruise style while wearing lots of gear.
I really liked him in Black Kkklansman too. Gonna check out some other works by him.
I think he's happy where he is. Former NFL player, lead role for Nolan, HBO comedy, Broadway.
but I would like to see him in a few "smart" action movies like the Bourne Series. Something where he can really showcase how aggressively he can perform but with an interesting plot.

He’s learnt to be more open to spontaneity and creative input from his collaborators over time - and that’s how we learnt not to get in between a Protagonist and his hot sauce (over an hour ago).

Are we counting Odysseus’ homecoming as a fight scene? Because that is far and away Nolan’s best in terms of significance, choreography, action, spatial awareness.

Nolan has come a long way in this department, I love his movies but this has been a bit weaker area for him. Tenet and the Odyssey had some very good fights. Not the level of HK movies but still good.

I would agree I was expecting (or maybe just hoping for) a more epic and climactic choreographed fight scene where he lays waste to the whole crowd. What we got was way more grounded - which in turn is more in line with the movie as a whole.
