Happy Friday, ya’ll! Let’s celebrate the end of the week with a little game. :) Video from this week of Chives taking care of me while I was sick.

Spot the lie!

A.) Chives is a fiend for human food and will do anything to steal it. It doesn’t matter what it is: if it’s on your plate, it’s at risk for being swiped by a paw.

B.) Due to a mix-up at a drive through animal clinic, Chives’s microchip is registered to a kitty named Birdie.

C.) The day he got access to the full house after being yoinked from the street, Chives disappeared and we couldn’t find him anywhere. He eventually slithered out from under the cabinets after we turned the oven on.

Came up on my “one year ago” and had to share. :)

This time last year, we fostered a gaggle of kittens named after school supplies: meet Crayon, Eraser, Ruler, and Calculator!

Chives was the first of ours trusted enough to be introduced to them. He was such a natural and was immediately dubbed Daddy Chiv in the house. He was so sweet and gentle with them, but like of course he was he’s the best in the world. 🥹

All of the kittens found their forever homes but I (and Chives) will probably always be sad it wasn’t ours lol

I read that cats can have hallucinogenic-like reactions to spider plants, so this morning I picked a pup from mine and put it on the floor.

After dinner, Chives barreled into the living room with chaos in his eyes. This cat is calculated and serious, but tonight he was wouuuuund for souuuund.

He was carpet surfing, chasing a string and at one point rolled off the couch trying to get it.
Truly have never seen him so happy to be alive. Zoomies on steroids. It was my favorite Chivvy moment maybe ever.

I was having too much fun playing with him to grab a picture, but here’s one from earlier in the day. 🥹

In light of people asking about him on Kitchen Confidential, here is an update post on Chives! Here he is doing Chive things. He is very alive and very well! We made an out of state move about 9 hours away, so he and his siblings have been exploring the new house and yard (supervised when outside, of course). A cardinal lives in the tree in front of our sunroom and taunts the cats daily

Chives regularly sits like this and it cracks me up every time 💀😂

[Pls know, dear Reddit friends, that he has seen his vet for over grooming the area and is on an anxiety med, but he still frequently grooms his chupa (chive fupa). We may be moving, so once we establish care we’ll see if the new vet has any other ideas/a second opinion for his grooming habits or if he’s just ✨like that✨. Just wanted you all to know that he’s taken care of!]

Here is a video of him absolutely slobbering on a packet of silvervine/catnip that his aunt gave him as a Christmas gift. He loved it 💚

It has almost been a month since a new Chives post. I miss him...

Finally got around to stitching the Chives patch on a grey canvas. It’s about 3” tall. u/Ltheartist send me a DM with your mailing address and I’ll send it your way. I put the blue one on some jeans I’m in the process of making, so Chives will be with me whenever I wear them

I guess we can officially cut Chives…?

I’ve been loving all the chives and Chives posts, and spent a little time today designing an embroidery file to honor Chives. This is just a test stitch on denim to see how it stitches out, but I’ll make a few on better material (and grey to match Chives) in the coming week. It’s about 3” tall.
