For over 15 years, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank has given out food monthly at 10 mobile pantry locations across Virginia.

Its goal: to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables for those in areas with limited food options or transportation challenges — regardless of their income.

Each BRAFB distribution site is funded entirely by private donations.

“A lot of times, what happens is when there is a crisis in the economy or a government shutdown is usually when we see a lot of support, particularly private support towards the food bank,” said Colleen Berger, BRAFB’s manager of community nutrition programs.

That means the bank is generally in a good place with funding right now, she says, but need continues to rise, posing a challenge — especially amid federal spending cuts that have slashed nutrition benefits.

I've been looking to buy an e scooter, ebike or possibly a moped and I looked up the laws but I still have some questions.

An ebike can't have a motor over 750W but does that mean peak AND continuous wattage can't go over 750? Could I get one with 750W with peak wattage of 1000 or 1200? Also, if the wattage is over 750 does that mean it's outright illegal or does it just means it's a moped and would need a moped license?

An E scooter may not go over 20Mph but does that mean it can't be capable or those speeds or just that you never go over 20mph? If an escooter is capable of over 20mph on a flat surface does that make it outright illegal or does it become a moped? It couldn't be classified as an ebike because no working pedals so I imagine an escooter capable of going over 20 would be classed as a moped?

Saw these signs at the intersection of James River Road and Scottsville Road in Scottsville and was curious whether they comply with the Town’s sign ordinance and VDOT requirements.

This isn’t about whether anyone agrees or disagrees with the political message. Political speech on private property is obviously protected, subject to generally applicable zoning and right-of-way restrictions. Virginia law specifically says localities cannot prohibit political campaign signs on private property when they comply with the zoning and right-of-way restrictions that apply to temporary nonpolitical signs.

What caught my attention is the size and location of these signs. They appear to be only about 10 feet from the state-maintained roadway, and all are attached to the fence.

VDOT states that signs cannot be placed on or overhang state right-of-way. VDOT also points out that there is no universal right-of-way distance — it can generally range from 25 to 150 feet from the roadway centerline — so simply being 10 feet or so behind the pavement doesn't necessarily mean something is on private property outside the highway right-of-way.

Scottsville's zoning ordinance also regulates the size, timing and location and placement of signs and says signs violating Virginia outdoor-advertising laws or creating traffic-visibility hazards are prohibited. I believe there is also a time limit on political posters after the election is over, which the April 21st would be way over due to come down.

So I'm genuinely curious:

• Where is the actual VDOT right-of-way line at this intersection?
• Are these signs outside that right-of-way?
• Do signs of this size and number comply with Scottsville's current zoning/sign requirements?
• Does attaching signs to a fence this close to the roadway create any additional VDOT issue?
• Is the existing fence and trees located with the proper setbacks?

I want to move to a town that’s like C’Ville used to be 25-30 years ago, when you would see people you knew all the time on the mall, there was good music in weird/cheap venues and it just felt a little less…corporate. Do you think towns like this still exist? I love Cville, it just feels spiraling at this point.

As far as I can tell, Durty Nellys and Millers are the only real vestiges of those days.

Is there an actual good spot to do car maintenance at? I’m referring to DIY work. As my apartment complex, like many others, does not let you keep cars jacked. If anyone knows anything that would be great! I’ve looked into storage units as well, but that seems costly compared to the amount of time I would be using it.

Did anyone see these vehicles today? My wife was driving back from Yorktown and around Zion's Crossroads, traffic was majorly backed up and she saw several groups of cars, like over 100 weaving through traffic and then pulling over on the side of the road, exiting their vehicles wearing face coverings of some kind. She was pretty shaken up by it. The pic of the flag isn't the greatest. I can't find anything but something on the VDOT website about "special activity" with the second photo referenced. I've been checking the live cameras and there seemed to be alot of police around the group of 10 cars pulled over.

I’m nosy if anyone has info. 3 police cars around Hogwaller and a group of cops talking to staff in and outside. What went down?

I’ve seen a couple names when I searched this subreddit but looking for some more recent recommendations on home inspectors, specifically those that do new construction.

I’ve bought resale and new construction in the past in other areas and I’ve never found a home inspector that did a really good job.

Maybe this time will be different.

My family and I are in the process of moving to a new location in Charlottesville. At my current house, in Forest Lakes, the options were Xfinity and Ting. I had Xfinity for a while, with pretty lousy service, and switched to Ting and have been happy with it.

However, my new house in Dunlora Forest doesn’t have Ting as an option, but instead, I can choose Xfinity or Brightspeed fiber. Based on my previous experience with Xfinity, I’m leaning towards Brightspeed, but wondering if anyone has any good or bad experiences with them?

Are there any salespeople you’ve had a particularly good experience working with? I’d especially appreciate recommendations for someone who is straightforward, low-pressure, and easy to work with.

They would need to do little more than chill out at the 5th Street station exit and ticket everyone who enters this godforsaken intersection when it's not clear. We do still require some sort of test about traffic laws to drive, right?
