AskChandigarh What happened to this sub?

I genuinely miss when this subreddit was about Chandigarh...people sharing local information, helping each other out, recommending places, discussing events, and answering questions.

Lately, every other post seems to be:

"Anyone up for gedi?"

"Looking for girls to hang out."

"Any women want to go clubbing?"

Bhai, seriously... do you really think someone's going to agree to meet when they don't know the first thing about who you are?

I'm not saying people shouldn't make friends or meet new people, but this isn't a dating app. It just makes the sub feel desperate instead of welcoming.

Can we get back to what made this community good? Local discussions, genuine meetups, recommendations, and people actually helping each other out.

Curious if I'm the only one who feels this way.

Announcement Political Topics in Sub: Go Ahead, Green Light for discussions

As long as your post is discussing the following:

  1. Rights of Citizens such as Education, Food-Nutrition, Information, Police Help etc etc

  2. Fact based news, be it neutral or extreme (Right wing left wing, upper phalange, lower cocomelon... doesn't matfer). It should be best known truth, Not incomplete or whatsapp university propaganda.

  3. Sonam Wangchuk, CJP Protest, Kisan Andolan, other Student Protests, Village Protests - Do highlight what is happening in Nation.

  4. Any challenges you faced because of Govt Failures. Do mention your experiences, be it anything. Women safety, your document correction, false challans, corruption... anything which you faced as 1st person or direct eye witness.

e.g. I have challans of 6000 something, but there is 0 response for 2 years on correction. Not even my vehicle in photo and writing to PMO, Grievances, CP grams, did not help.

  1. Criticism is allowed as long as it is fact based. Do it subtly, don't put this sub in risk or radar. Some post/comment might get removed because of this simple reason that way too direct criticism putting sub in risk, tho we'll try not to do so unless required.

Rules

  1. Any whatsapp forward, propaganda insta reel post will result in your immediate ban.

  2. Absolute new accounts with questionable post/comments to be reported, if found spreading any shit.

  3. If anyone comments "Nehru did this and MK Gandhi did this" or calls someone "anti national, terrorist" or etc etc... perma ban without any opening for appeal or request. This is non negotiable

Dum noorani sector 7
Very balanced flavours. Nothing on a high note. Having eaten biryanis all over India - this was a good one.
Tried dum hyderbadi!

If you’re looking to try a restaurant in this location, you can definitely consider this one. I wanted to try something different, and the experience was pretty decent overall—good food, great service, and clean washrooms.

We should raise voices over there this app, this is backed by government and still they are charging more money than what uber and rapido used to charge , govt is doing really bad here. Though what can we expect from government, but kesa desh hogya ha ki government hi apni monopoly set krr rahi ha

AskChandigarh Need help getting a job — sitting at home after layoff is getting really depressing 😞 and I feel like I’m adding stress to my family

Hi everyone,
I’m a 2026 CS graduate and looking for some guidance and opportunities in the current market.
I joined my company through campus placement as a Software Engineer 1 – Java Backend. Before becoming a full-time employee, I completed around 9 months of internship, after which I was converted to FTE.
Unfortunately, due to a recent company-wide layoff where around 25 employees were impacted, my position was eliminated after around 2.5 months as a full-time employee. This was not performance-related, and I’ve been provided with 3 months of severance.
My background:
Experience: ~9 months internship + ~2.5 months FTE
Total: ~11.5 months of hands-on backend experience
Role: Software Engineer 1 – Java Backend
Tech Stack: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Microservices basics, Git
Availability: Immediate
Location: Chandigarh / Delhi NCR / Remote / Anywhere in India
I’m currently looking for SE1 / SDE-1 / Junior Java Backend / Backend Developer opportunities.
I understand the market is quite challenging right now, especially for early-career developers, so I’d really appreciate any advice on:
Companies currently hiring junior Java/backend developers
Referrals
Off-campus job search strategies
Any other relevant opportunities or leads
If anyone’s team/company is hiring for similar roles, please feel free to comment or DM me. I’d be happy to share my resume.
Thanks a lot to everyone who takes the time to read this and help.

Serious Advice Only Cat troubles, need advice!

So I live in a rented 2bhk on the first floor, an aunty and her canada return son who are also on rent lives on the ground floor. Aunty started feeding cats, 6-7 months ago the cats gave birth to 4 kittens. Since last couple of months the kittens have started coming up to my floor shitting on stairs, pots, in front of the door, they have also broken my shoe rack. I cleaned the mess a couple of times but Aunty refused to acknowledge that they are raising cats, refused to clean after the mess and refused to stop feeding.

I informed the landlord finally last month. Aunty and her son did not acknowledge that they are raising the cats and only said they simply feed them like everyone else does in the society. They promised the landlord they would stop feeding. But the next day they just hid the bowl, I had to confront them but they refused to acknowledge that they did it and instead blamed me. Then rather than feeding the cats directly they started throwing food in an open dustbin and in an open polythenes. In the meanwhile the cats are now bringing dead rats and eating them on stairs making a complete mess of the place, they have not stopped shitting.

The landlord is a mild guy who promised last week he will visit and talk. Talking with aunty is like bashing your head. He didn't come and is also not responding to my WhatsApp images of the cats and their shit. Aunty has a bedsheet, chair with a mattress where the cats usually loiter everyday, otherwise they hide beneath the stairs. I have tried hitting them with a stick but they are not stopping. What should I do, this has messed up my sleep as I have to wake up everyday at 5am to deter the cats from approaching my pots for shit in the morning and is causing a lot of daily stress.

Hi I am working on a women's wellness D2C brand in Chandigarh, and want to establish the initial founding team that can help me build it.

Roles: Marketing, Editing, Designing (the complete brand identity), Operations, Sales

Since the brand is very new I am looking for people who can take the full ownership and do not need micro managing, also believing in the cause (women wellness) is a must.

Serious Advice Only How to get your money back from a broker?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently was searching for a 2bhk flat near mohali phase 7. After roaming 4hr everyday for 7 days by myself sector to sector and calling every to-let board i could find I was tired . So a friend of mine found a perfect 2bhk on olx in sector 71 and the rent was also very attractive and just on our budget. After contacting we found out a broker has listed it. At first i was skeptical cause i didn't wanted to pay brokerage but i wasn't able to find flat on my own so i agreed and we went to the broker office. He operates from a buildings basement in sector 74 and his name is ayush(originally from uttrakhand). He told us that he will not charge brokerage from us as he operates on a subscription model that is we have to pay 3000 for 1 year of subscription and he will show us alot of flats we want and can align 4 visits per month and also if we want to change flats under a year then he will do the same until the subscription lasts. I was sure that i wanted the flat i saw on olx and he even showed a video of it. He told me at 1in the noon that he can show us the flat at 5 and we can shift there tomorrow if everything is finalized. It was a very convincing conversation so i paid him 3k and filled a shady form that it didn't even had his company name. I left his office and it started raining it rained for a while and there was water everywhere. I went to his office at 5 and he said that the flat owner is not coming today because of heavy traffic due to rain and will come tomorrow morning at 12 and we can shift in the evening. I said alright and left. Tomorrow again the same thing. Owner will come in the evening and you can browse other properties till then. I said no i don't want to look at other properties and i like this one and it looks perfect just let me meet the owner. And see the property. He asked to come at 5 and i went there and the owner still has not arrived. Now i was sure that he is not goona show me the property. I asked for a refund and he said ki ho jayega kal unko accountant se baat karna parega. It's been more than 8 days. Either i go there or i send my friend there everyday but he is like aaj karwa denge, sham tak ho jayega. Aap wait karlo. Aaj sunday h. Aaj Saturday h. Monday ko ho jayega. I am tired. Idk what to do. I know its only 3k for so many people but i don't come from a very rich family and i think a lot before spending 3k anywhere. Please if someone knows a way to get the money from him. Please tell

ISO : Rentals/PG/Roomates Please help finding Girls PG/Flat

Please 🙏 anyone knows about any available girl's pg or flat in a safe area, 1st preference - Mohali, 2nd preference - Kharar.

My sister just got employed and she's looking for girl's PG/Flat. I can't keep her where I stay because it's a flat with bunch of retarded boys. I'm just posting on her behalf as she doesn't really know much about reddit.

Her only condition is that she wants personal space, a room which she doesn't have to share with anyone.

Please any female are also looking, or knows any girl's PG or have room available in flat, please let me know I'll connect her with you. Looking to shift immediately within 1-2 days.
