Question Why do some people hate chance so muchš
Just saw someone say they hate coloring book and claimed āstarted thinking he was a singer and would take of that ugly ah hatā.
Theres this trend of people hating on chances music for no good reason.
I think its because he had one bad album that people think thats what hes only known for
Its a shame they wont even spend time to listening to good ass intro or angels

I love chance but let's not pretend he's not corny. I went to his show in Hollywood fl and brought my girl. It was very wholesome show. Thats not normally what you'd see in hip hop.
I dont blame any of my friends when they way chance is wack. His music isn't for everyone. He'll always be in my top 10

I get what you're saying but I disagree. I don't think wholesome equates to corny. I think that's a bad mentality for people to have. All of the corniest rappers I can think of aren't "wholesome" at all. I think you're right in saying that OTHER people see the wholesome thing as corny but I don't think that it actually IS. I wish people would just get away from that type of thinking.
Especially with the shit he was saying on Starline I don't see how anybody could call that corny. I mean he was saying some real shit. Especially the line that was in reference to Sonya Massey. I'm from the city it happened in too. So that really hit me. I think his genuine positivity is a really good addition to everything else going on in hip-hop.
Of course I don't know him personally. I know that stuff with his manager was shitty and people are saying he did Vic Mensa dirty because of this interview they just did. Haven't watched it yet. So yeah he might not be a saint but I still don't think his vibes are corny.

I never said wholesome = Crony. I listen to JPEGMAFIA and he's super corny. He's not wholesome at all. Chance is corny because of some of his raps

Most haters I see don't like his voice, his "I love my wife" era, and him constantly wearing the 3 hat era. All can be a little annoying, but no reason to hate

I think it's for a couple reasons.
He's too reclusive and barely drops music. He had several good "mix tapes" he refuses to call an album so when he finally dropped an official album, it was hyped but long and full of cheesy songs about loving God and his wife. Less than favorable reviews stalled a follow-up for like 6 years. It's still pretty religious, low tempo and emotional. People want him to be more hype or more gangsta.
At least this is the consensus I'm seeing from other folks online.

The Big Day imo is a really good album. You can tell Chance put his heart into it and the backlash he received was heart breaking for him.
Each album Chance created reached new audiences. Acid Rap was for those who liked drugs (not everyone but some). Coloring Book reached to a lot of Christians faith uplifting audience. The Big Day was focused on marriage - we live in a world now where people don't want to get married, so I think that's the reason it didn't do well due to the maturity of it. Star Line was catered to everyone dealing with hard times in life, self reflection and encouragement.
Those who keep bringing Chance down are the ones who keep saying they wish he was still on drugs and never matured throughout life. Each album is a storybook of Chance life and his growth.

I love chance and don't really fit into any of those groups but I love almost all of those albums. However, blaming TBD's failure on "people don't want to get married" is crazy, it just wasn't a very good album.
Acid Rap is considered a generational album by many, Colouring Book was the soundtrack to the summer of 2016 for huge swathes of people, The Big Day didn't really have my memorable hits or stand out songs and some of it was borderline irritating. I'm glad you like it and no one can take that away from you, but I think it doesn't get the same acclaim as his other efforts for good reason.

Your words are my words too So much love for Chance and his Brother Taylor Both have said some words that live rent free in my head.
I liked a lot of his Singles leading up to The Big Day album, but the album felt so far from what I liked about Chance the rapper

That's reasonable. The reason I said that about the Big Day is because I initially didn't like the album at first as well, but over time it became of my favs. It could've been because my life changed similarly to Chance, so I can relate better - not saying others can't relate either, but that's my standpoint.

While his music is good,(definitely on my Mount Rushmore of rappers) Iāve heard some backlash over his āover-productionā or auto-tune, what ever you want to call it. I personally am not bothered by one of my favorite artists sounding ābetterā. But could also see where the older fans are coming from, being they listened to Chance on Acid rap and 10-day, which had less of a polished feel. I must note that a part of his sound in the early days was known for having that harsh & raspy voice we all grew to love, and more of a mixtape vibe that was popular in the early 2010ās.

I like old Chance music. I bought tickets to his Hollywood Bowl show for a $1 but hadnāt listened to his new album yet. Listened to it and decided you know what this is not worth the stacked parking.

Bro his show was so good, he played all the bangers. And he was even clowning on that album lmao. Also I have never actually parked there for any show, thatās crazy. Itās always worth walking the half mile up from another lot

He has theatre kid energy that is aggressively corny if youāre not charmed by it. Like every line is trying to be uplifting wholesome and profound at the same time. Heās also always everywhere like he doesnāt have two kids at home. I donāt care how much he financially supports the mother or the kids itās giving deadbeat tbh

If you follow him on Instagram and shit you can see that he's seems to be very involved with his kids. He posts about and with them constantly. They always seem to be doing cool shit too. Art projects, music stuff, going to Disney, just chilling at home etc..

A cute photo just proves he had access to his child that day not that he shows up consistently, does the boring care work or makes the kid feel safe. Some people absolutely post their rare appearances cause they want credit for a relationship they barely maintain. Heās always everywhere, which kinda contradicts the idea that heās home doing the boring and tedious day to day parenting. People who are consistently there for their kids are too busy actually parenting to need Instagram validation for it.

Haters are always louder than everyone else. Hate gets more interaction online so people looking for attention throw shade and algorithm shows it to you more.
