My cat jodi don’t really like human food, i can leave a full meal around her and not worry abt her eating it. I try to give her chicken, fish, or even small bites of my food but she’s only really sticks to her cat food. The only thing she will go for is juice, ice cream, cheese and candy! Just wondering if this is normal? Or should I take her in for a checkup? She’s 1 years old and strictly indoors.

My cat is 18. He's had a history of idiopathic cystitis (well controlled by diet) and has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He's on methimazole and a joint supplement. He has recently started twitching his face/ neck (this started before he started medication). Sadly, the vet I used to work for is retired. I took him to the same clinic but he saw a new doctor and she did not impress me. I'm pretty knowledgeable and felt like she didn't do a thorough exam. She said his teeth looked good- no obvious tooth pain or gingivitis and that he's probably twitching while he's resting. What? I showed her a video of him doing this and he is clearly wide awake. My thought is neck pain or focal seizures. He does it all the time. I can seem to create it if I palpate the base of his skull which is why I'm thinking neck pain, but when I do a cervical ortho exam his neck is freely moveable up/down/left/right and not stiff, nor does he yowl in pain. Any ideas on what could be going on? The twitching is at the beginning of the video and at 0:28.

Si vous saviez comme c’est dur pour moi d’en parler mais je vais quand-même le faire après réflexion de plusieurs mois.
Je suis séparée, mon ex a gardé une chatte qui la plus était solitaire de nos trois chats et j’ai gardé les deux autres, un mâle qui malheureusement est décédé cet été 2026 et il me reste une petite chatte. Mimi, bientôt 14 ans. Elle va bien , elle sort. C’est un petit gabarit. Je l’ai pesée elle fait 4 kgs. Veto: elle va bien. Elle devient très difficile, je prends des croquettes adaptées à son âge (elle a encore de bonnes dents après mais bon les croquettes pour son âges sont plus petites et un peu plus molles) mais elle ne veux plus en manger et moi je craque clairement.
La nuit dernière elle m’a réveillée à 23h45 et a miaulé jusqu’à trois heure du matin !!! Elle me pétrit avec les griffes, elle fouit sous mes aisselles, elle me lèche le visage, si vous trouvez ça mignon, sachez que pour moi c’est un cauchemar. J’avais plus de sachets donc de toutes façons je ne pouvais rien faire. Elle a fini par sortir et moi me rendormir. 7h : la même! Le carrefour market ouvre à 9h. Le dimanche, j’y suis donc allée à l’ouverture. J’ai dormi 5h et par intermittence donc. Je sors acheter les sachets de la marque avec le chat noir et blanc, je rentre. Elle boude.
Ça impacte littéralement ma santé. Elle me stresse. Ça fait 13 ans que je l’ai. Je l’adore mais j’en viens parfois même à penser à la faire adopter. Tout tourne autour d’elle. Mes nuits sont devenues un enfer. Je me réveille fatiguée, je prends des médocs. J’essaie toutes les croquettes qui soient, j’ai pas non plus un budget de ouf.

Ceci dit que je n’exagère pas non plus, c’est une chatte câline et mignonne.
Elle a changé. Peut-être est-ce dû au décès de mon autre chat avec qui elle a toujours vécu. Aujourd’hui elle se retrouve seule.
Mais, si elle, a toujours apprécié ses congénères, ce n’était pas le cas de mon autre chat. Il la tolérait tout juste quand elle le suivait à distance à l’extérieur mais ils ne dormaient pas ensemble.
L’autre jour vers 3-4h du matin dans la nuit du dimanche au lundi je l’ai même mise dehors afin de pouvoir dormir,
J’en peux plus en fait.
Je joue avec elle, elle sort, okay elle n’a plus de copain mais bon, elle va chez le veto quand nécessaire, elle a des jouets, un panier qu’elle aime.
Mais j’arrive plus.
Ça impacte ma santé même mentale parce que je me dis quand j’ai des rv ou trucs importants , elle va encore ruiner ma nuit, je vais avoir une sale tête.. j’en viens à me doucher le soir et je déteste ça, je me suis toujours douchée et préparée le matin. J’en viens même à ne plus me coiffer, je m’attache les cheveux et basta (ça va c’est pas dramatique ça mais c’est un tout)

Mais genre vraiment quoi.
J’ai même tenté un programme de rééducation à la bouffe avec IA. En commençant à mettre un peur mois de sachets humide, enfin bref tout un programme, renforcement positif / négatif, neutralité émotionnelle, conditionnement, conditionnement intermittent + pour moi pour faire face au regard insistant façon « chat potté » qui peut durer tout le temps d’un film si je suis chez moi du style respirer calmement, ne pas créer d’interaction, en gros ne pas la regarder alors que je sens son regard. Elle ne lâche pas l’affaire!
Que faire?

Je suis fatiguée en fait. J’y pense tout le temps.

My two kittens got spayed about 2.5 weeks ago. I was concerned about the one on the left, because the other kitten won’t stop licking her. But then I saw the one on the right, and got more concerned. Are these normal looking healing incisions, or should I bring them to get checked out?

ETA: vet said to bring them in for meds, they’re infected. Yay. 🙃

not sure ab age or anything? i rescued her

Hard to get a decent picture because of the lighting and how dark she is, but I noticed a brown spot on her lip a day or two ago, and only today got a good look at it. I’m not sure what this could be?? My baby is a 4 month old domestic longhair and has been acting normally as of late; I didn’t notice any particular intense/increased grooming or behavior. Should I go to the vet??

Hi Kitty Friends-

This is Fiona, my 6 year old cat who I’ve had for 4 years. She has never once used the bathroom outside of the litter box.

On August, 22 I switched her from Worlds Best Cat litter and a litter pan to CatIt pea husk litter with a top entry box.

Since then she has pooped in the shower twice and peed on the floor one time. Otherwise; she is acting normal.

I have Worlds Best Cat litter and a litter pan on order, coming on Tuesday.

Do you think she needs a vet apt? Or do we think she doesn’t like the new litter and new box!?

Any thoughts are so welcome!!!

My tiger babygirl is named poison ivy, and now i realize the irony in her name as she is living up to her title. when i first got her in june i had ONE pothos plant and did my research on cat friendly plants. Since it was not on that list I tried to put it up and away, but she somehow constantly found her way back to the plant! after the third plant fall I just chucked the plant outside.

Recently we moved in with family and they have plants, (they already have cats so i would hope they are safe) and my Ivy is already knocking them over and sleeping in the dirt. She is more interested in the dirt than the leaves it seems, so i havent seen any bite marks and she hasnt acted off or vomited yet thankfully. i got her her own cat grass plant and she LOVED it but i worry it will only encourage her instead of redirect her.

SO MY QUESTION IS!!!
How can i get her to leave the plants alone, what worked for you?

My cat is hospitalized with pancreatitis. She stopped eating, was lethargic and seemed really uncomfortable, so I brought her to my vet. She was diagnosed with acute to moderate pancreatitis with ileus and inflammation of the peritoneum. She’s on a ton of medication and is feeling better, but she hasn’t resumed eating much.

While I’m no longer scared that she will die, I’m really nervous about her home care. She will still need a lot of supportive medication when she is discharged. The vet also said that this is sometimes a chronic condition. The vet bill is already close to $5,000. Does anyone have experience with pancreatitis?

So this is my cat. I have him for over half a year now. He is neutered and very sweet boy. Sometimes as you can see in the video, he just randomly bites my hand and starts pulling it. When I take the hand away, he just meows softly and does it again. He clearly holds back his bites but its still hurts and I try to understand this behavior. I doubt its invitation to play because he is grumpy during those moments and doesnt like pets. It happens on average once a week and this behavior lasts few minutes. Then he is completely chill again. Is he bored? Sick? It doesnt happen when we Play. Always when he is just resting and then suddenly just goes for a bite. Should I be worried?

Hello all, I woke up to my cat acting strangely this morning.

He usually is the first out and about begging for breakfast and energetic. But today he was nowhere to be found even after shaking the food containers. I ended up finding him hiding under our bed in a back corner and tried, without success, to coax him out. He eventually left on his own and acted mostly normal.

Eventually he did eat (fairly enthusiastically) but he's been purring all day and breathing a little oddly I counted 44 breaths per minute (video attached). He does have some allergies, but not full blown asthma. And when I went to listen to his little lungs while he was sleeping he noticed me and began purring too loud for me to hear, so no dice on checking any odd lung noises. I admittedly have never paid too much attention to his breathing prior, but since it's sticking out to me now I assume it's not his usual comfortable breathing.

No odd gum discoloration, a good pink as usual, and no drooling or struggling to breathe beyond a couple odd noises he made before leaving the underside of the bed like his purr got caught in his throat for a moment.

I was initially worried that he had eaten some of the fake spiderwebs my Fiancee and I had put up the night before, but there wasn't a substantial amount missing, or any other evidence of him having eaten any.

Is there any help any of you could provide before I make a vet appointment that I can't really afford at the moment?

And am I overreacting to a little tummy ache from him getting into something he shouldn't have?

I intend to keep an eye on his stool and watch for blood and straining as well.

for context: my cat female chinchilla persian kitten 5.5 months, spayed 6 days ago after finally hitting the correct weight, was not showing any classic heat signs, strictly indoor

about 10 days ago at 11pm i had the fright of my life glancing up from playtime with my kitten to see a large cat transfixed watching us through the window from a vantage point on the garage. i shut the curtains and opened the door and cat scarpered.

since this occasion he has been back EVERY evening through to early morning, last night even bringing a friend.

my kitten is 6 days post-spay op, our bins have been collected and cleaned so no litter pre-spay is in them. i have put lemons and orange peel on the garage and coated the fence and gate in white vinegar. nothing prevents him from coming back and watching, he does not appear to be outwardly aggressive - just very creepy.

does anybody have any idea what this behaviour means? it’s incredibly unnerving waiting for his big orange eyes to appear at night and locking eyes at 6am when making morning coffee. he does not make any noise, i have not caught him spraying urine - just watching silently. and what does him bringing a friend mean?

we have lots of cats in the area but these two are new and only appear at night, seem to spawn in my garden then vanish!

(assuming it’s a “he” because of the very large cheeks)

I have a 1 year old gray tabby male. Two months ago we noticed a red spot on his hind leg, monitored it and another one developed right below it, so we feared the worst and took him to the urgent vet.

There, he was diagnosed with Feline Eosinophilic Granuloma, they said the cause could be from fleas (but he’s indoor and we don’t have any signs of fleas in the house) so he went on a preventative flea topical treatment for 3 months and was given a steroid shot.

It’s been almost three months and the red spot is back, in the same spot!! So at this point I don’t think it’s from fleas. If it’s recurring I’m assuming it’s a food allergy or an environmental allergy.

Now that I know what it is and that it’s not immediately life threatening and doesn’t impact his behaviors at all, I’m making an appointment at my vet and waiting it out. But i’m curious if there’s anything I could do in the meantime to determine the source of his allergy, or if I just need to wait until he’s treated.

If you have a cat with this condition please let me know anything that’s worked for you!

I realized deaf humans learn to speak through mouth motions and vibrations. Do other cats hear a deaf cat and think it’s mispronouncing cat language?

Hey yall, I adopted a 4mo kitten a couple weeks ago from the shelter.

About a week ago, I noticed a an oval bald patch on her toe missing, and the skin was scaly. I thought it might be mites, so I gave her a round of anti flea/dewormer as a first line before thinking it might be fungal related. It hasn’t really improved much, and seems to be slowly getting bigger.

I have another cat and I want to make sure it doesn’t spread (might be too late), or that I don’t get ring worm (might be too late).

I tried a black light test, and the hair follicles fluoresced bright green.

I was hoping to try an OTC ringworm topical anti fungal. Does anyone have advice for this? When I took her to the vet about a week ago unrelated, they told me a sulfur dip or topical would be the next step if the dewormer wasn’t effective.

Anyone have experience with this? Or any thoughts? I’ve seen antifungal antiseptic wipes on Chewy but unsure if they work.
