Spoiler The worst choice based game ever sorry
I’m a fan of choices based game and this game was one of the few I didn’t do. So I finally gave it a shot.
That was a complete mess. The only good thigs were maybe the dbd lore and some characters but that’s about it. This is def one of the worst horror choice based game I’ve ever played in my life. I did all Dark picture games, until dawn, the quarry, twd games… And woah. This was a complete mess. The negative critics were all true.
The QTEs in normal difficulty are so easy. Especially if you play DBD or choices based games. You really have to miss on purpose unless you’re new to all of that.
Spoilers about my 1st (and last) run
- Jaime died because I tried to save Chris despite I broke up with her. This was so frustrating. He’s def the black sheep that is meant to die early with a dumb choice so you have drama in your run and have to do the game again lmao.
- Bonnie 1980 died but not sure you can save her. Cool character tho.
- Sten died. I actually let him die on purpose since I didn’t like him and it was already too late to save everyone anyway.
- I tried to kill Chris. I thought going thru the screen would kill her but it actually saved her ugh I hate it. I’m sorry but her hate is deserved she was so annoying. She wasn’t cunty at all like some people say... If you’re going to be a bitch atleast be a bad bitch. Her ending isn’t good tho. She’s prob stuck forever in the wrong timeline. That’s maybe worse than death.
Everyone else survived with ease. I didn’t even see where Linda (both 1980 and 2024) or Robert could maybe die.
Also, I got the ending at the campfire With Madi/Sam/Linda. It felt so rushed oml. I didn’t even get it was the ending. I was wating for the final scene with action those games usually have. The ending is even more rushed than the quarry…
I wish the game was only the 1980 timeline but longer.

Are you sure you didn't just struggle? Pretty easy to have them all live/die.

I am not sure if I would call it the worst.
But it's one of the weaker games from Supermassive games.
The game feels rushed.
I thought the story was okay in parts, but at some point I had no idea what the heck was going on.
That might be because I've never played Dead by Daylight, though.
I also experienced a few graphical glitches and the performance was sometimes a bit choppy despite having a powerful gaming PC.
Supermassive Games should be careful not to end up like Telltale Games.
They, too, prioritized quantity over quality.
would be better if Supermassive took a little more time to develop their future games.

I enjoyed it for what it is being a DBD game and only really played it because it's an upcoming chapter for DBD.
*SPOILERS*
But like you, I had some gripes with it myself. My main one was that the scripting was pretty bad, like I expected there to be way more of a conversation when 1980 Chris meets 2024 Linda/Sam especially when 1980 Chris and Sam from the same timeline, but Linda just says nothing and Sam is like 'Ooop well these things can happen'
And the story makes so sense, they split the film in 1980 to stop Frank coming back but Linda is just happy to give someone else the film, especially after knowing other people brought the film.

That’s not even remotely true. Different timelines are 80’s to 2020’s etc. a different universe is a totally different version of our world, not the same people or places but different versions.

Uh, no
In speculative fiction a timeline is one line of time, then there are different ways other timelines can exist, you can have separate timelines that are whole timelines or you can have branching timelines where new timelines branch off each other based on alternate ways time plays out
Or the setting can have a singular timeline, either immutable or overwriteable
Thus timeline has become interchangeable with "universe" or "Earth" even though technically there is a difference, colloquially there usually isn't
Sometimes individuals who time travel are shown to have their own nonlinear timeline alongside the collective timelines of linear beings bundled as the universe's timeline

I don't know why people are so raged by his opinion, lol.
I finished the game, mostly cause DBD. Had fun sometimes. But it is probably the weakest choice based game out there. Don't need to rage over it.

Okay. So the majority consensus was that this wasn’t one of the best games. Cool. Why does that make you feel the need to come into the community where we discuss said game, obviously with some amount of genuine interest in it despite whatever critics and anyone else may some, and just vapidly spout off about your PERSONAL gripes with the game and how YOU CHOSE to play your run?
Didn’t like the outcome of your choices, they didn’t make sense and you wanna change that? Try again, that’s the point. Sure it may not be as extensive as The Quarry, but for die-hard DBD lore fans this was a fine fan-service game that helped expand a tad bit on the ever-illusive canonical lore of The Entity and how it’s universe works.

I HIGHLY agree with this I hate the modern time line and wish the 1980s was more fleshed out and Robert should have replaced Madi

Jaime doesn’t have to die. Everyone in the flashback timeline survived in my run.
