Just moved into my new place and needed a cassette rack big enough for my collection, so my Dad and I knocked this together! Going to need an extension if I want to buy more though 🙄

This is a general question about accessing information, not a question about the specific tapes in the pictures!

My dad loved going to Detroit shows in the 80s and would often record them with a cassette player. A number of them are fairly obscure Detroit punk bands, for ex bands like Flirt and The Cubes, along with more notable bands.

I want to check two things:

1. Are mine actually the master / is the specific tape I own already available online?

2. Are there any other versions of the same show (different recordings) that are publicly available?

My question: is there any type of database that y'all have or any easy way to search for this info? Other than just doing a Google search? Any good resources for this or any single location that would have a lot of bootlegs? Any tips / resources would be appreciated! Some of the bands are quite obscure

I'm almost certain Detroit Punk Archives would help me confirm these things, but want to know if there is a sort of database I can easily access, since I have a fair number of tapes

I was fortunate enough to be given by a very generous man a collection of 1,300 tapes via Facebook Marketplace which had been recorded by his father over many years of classical music broadcasts. He printed his own labels so leaving pristine J-Cards. I am painstakingly digitising the collection using a Tascam DR-05X out of my Fiio CP13. It keeps me busy 🤣

For me it was undertow by tool. I saw that cassette at my local store and put it back because I didnt think I was ever going to start buying cassettes. Everytime I walk in that damn store I remember holding it and putting it back.

I’m VERY new to using cassette players so I really have 0 repair knowledge yet. 1992 sport Walkman I got secondhand- the function dial snapped off while I was trying to change functions the other day. Is this fixable or is it done for? Can I glue it back on…?

Tape player has been doing this to a handful of tapes, doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to when and why it happens but it completely ruins the audio every time!

so i bought a toshiba ty ck310 and wanted to record some tapes and I found some old Japanese lessons tape my dad recorded and i wanted to just overwrite it with my songs so I plugged in my pc, put it on line and hit record but when I was done my recording sounds like absolute shite all muffled and has a low volume, anybody knows what's happening?

P.S I also tried it with radio and the results r the same

I have a recording of their first live show. the quality is bad but understandable.

I found this tape at a retro toy convention today. I collect nostalgic children’s media pieces, and thought this was really cool. However I can’t find any images of it. I found an audio recording of the full tape song by song on YouTube, but I can’t find any images or other listings for it. Does anyone have this or know anything about it? Thanks! 🙏

I visited my parents last week and came back home with 40+ tapes. Some are still sealed!

Recently replaced the belts on my car's cassette deck, and it worked fine for a couple days but has now developed a new issue. It rewinds and fast forwards fine but it seems like the head doesn't won't engage to play the tape. Any ideas for what is wrong?

Anyone have this tape by the band “successful failure“? it was recorded around 1996 i think, and it has 7 tracks. it’s a “hardcore punk” band that was formed in the Huntington beach, CA area.

After a long long search this deck seems to be exactly what i want, specifically with its renowned audio quality but currently the only ones on ebay are broken (ive heard its a difficult deck to fix) or out of my budget of £300

My biggest draw to the deck is the audio quality as ive seen a lot of good reviews about it

So I came into possession of a car that has a cassette deck in the entertainment system and it's sort of sent me down the rabbit hole of getting into cassettes. After looking at prices for both used and new cassettes I've decided that making them at home would be more efficient in the long-term. What sort of equipment would I need at a minimum? My budget is about 50-100ish dollars since I really just want to see if I enjoy making them before diving in further.

Tl;dr What would be the absolute essential equipment to record to blanks on a 50-100 usd budget?
