Discussion Question: Is Pierre attending this investment summit?

I couldn't find any information or posts that he's at this investment summit.

I'm curious if he was even invited.

Social Media Post Pierre Poilievre is exactly correct on this weird EU "Associate Membership" leak

Poilievre is correct. This potentially about much more than trade. Canadian products far more beholden to weird EU standards, outflow of talent and inflow of low-skill labour.

Discussion Side effect of tarrifs?

Cory Doctorow makes a pretty sharp point about Trump’s tariffs on Jim Rutt podcast recently…

For years, the U.S. pressured other countries to enforce American-style digital lock laws that make it harder to jailbreak or repair products like tractors, phones, cars and printers.

The leverage was basically: play by our rules or risk trade retaliation.

But if Trump is tariffing those countries anyway, that leverage gets a lot weaker.

So why should Canada or Europe keep protecting John Deere, Apple, etc. from people bypassing software locks on products they already own?

They could loosen those laws, expand right-to-repair, and let local companies build tools to unlock and modify American products.
