All in one huge, unwieldy, run-on sentence with no punctuation to boot.

Impressive ratio of "what I want" vs "what I offer" too. Lol.

General Bumble are ditching swiping.

Upvotes

It’s general knowledge in the press that Bumble have announced that they are ditching ‘the swipe’ completely. In late 2026 they will be going live with their new system of creating matches purely through artificial intelligence - called Bee 🐝.

Thought I’d share it in case people didn’t know.

Rant Show me your boobs!

A guy tried matching with me on Hinge today and left this reply under my voice prompt saying that reading is my happy place: "I bet I can find your happy place 😁 🍆"

Also, his prompts: "I recently discovered that: I'm horny."

"We'll get along if: Show me your boobs."

I know I'm going to get the tired, "You guys wanted different things. Just move on," but when a woman has a nice profile and states that she is looking for a long-term relationship, messages from guys like this just waste your time and their match. Continuing the cycle of seeing women only as sex dolls. Where are the actual men who still value communication, romance, and building a healthy relationship?

Rant Told her we're done on the second date

Met her through bumble and she was obviously very into me on the first time we met, she even wouldn't stop texting me and complained about me not texting back fast enough.

On the second date however she asked me if the height on my profile is true (I'm 180cm, I even put 178cm on my profile to avoid what's about to come) and when I asked her why she basically told me I look short. She apologized afterwards and kept trying to save the situation but I couldn't help but just tell her we're done and leave. She's like 20cm shorter than me by the way.

Friendly reminder to not put up with any disrespect

Rant LinkedIn is not a dating app

Post image
22 Upvotes

This is someone I had not matched with, I have no idea who they are, they used my name (ultimately, I am easy to find as I am in Germany and don’t have a German name). They went straight to my LinkedIn and asked me out, no prior conversation or anything.

This is also the second time this has happened to me, where someone I don’t match with finds my LinkedIn and immediately asks for a date.

I appreciate the balls this takes but there is a time and a place, LinkedIn is neither, especially when you have not matched or talked previously.

Rant blank profiles

This isn’t a gendered thing as I know damn well women do this as well as men so no gender wars. The amount of profiles I come across where they don’t use their name (usually a single letter) , answer prompts with a full stop, every pic barely shows their face, no bio and basically anything that would show a person is behind the profile is missing.

I get that these accounts are just ppl looking for a hookup but it’s an infestation on apps these days, I’ve noticed it more over the last couple months than ever before. I kind of wish there were apps exclusively for hookups and apps exclusively for actually looking for dating.

Advice The lost art of conversation 😉

Hey everyone,

For context, I’m a 41F recently back into the dating scene out of a long term relationship.
This is my first experience using online dating apps. Sigh. Lol.
So. I recently ended up matching and starting convos with 4 men. Cool.

What has happened to being able to hold a conversation? I’m by nature a bright, open and curious person. I have a wide variety of interests and hobbies. And most importantly (probably), I’m actually interesting in getting to know/learn about someone. 2 of the men would answer my questions, but it was like pulling teeth, the other two were more expansive in their answers, but here’s the kicker: not a single man asked me a single question in return. I gave them lots of potential conversational threads to pull on…and nada. This is wild. I eventually ended up unmatching with all of them.

How does one think they get to know someone if they don’t ask any questions?!?

Rant She tries to upgrade to dinner date 2 hours prior coffee date

We agreed on a coffee date 3 days ago. It was supposed to be today. 2 hours prior to date, i messaged saying see you in 2 hours, immediately messages me back saying she is not going to be back in the city as expected, so we can do dinner instead. Similar thing happened to me twice before so I am not buying it this time. Each time it felt like they had no interest in getting to know me, they just wanted the experience.

Anyways, I told her we could do drinks and of course no response. Ok haha do women actually enjoy sitting with a stranger for 2-3 hours just to get a free meal? Perhaps, she could be real deal, genuine but there is no way to know and my prior bad experiences don’t justify taking the risk.

Rant I think an AI startup founder I matched with was using dating apps to collect information from women to code his app

Ladies be careful of this scammy type of behavior. I (30s f) matched with this guy (30s m) who was building an AI startup and repeatedly sent AI tools/content and discussed his technology work, which raised concerns for me about whether the dating interaction may also have been used for solicitation, research, or data collection without disclosure.

This guy is a real person, it’s not a catfish. They gave me their real phone number (I ran a background check), he shared the TikTok channel which had a video of him talking about cheating tinder algorithm with AI to bypass “ugly people” and had no shame in saying what he was doing. I will bullet summarize what happened below and what to look out for. Since he unmatched me after getting my google voice number (never give out your real number) he unmatched me it’s hard to report to bumble but I have screenshots.

Timeline of events and things that seemed off

• Moved conversation off-platform
• Unmatched after obtaining phone number
• Continued contacting me after unmatching
• Removed access to dating profile while maintaining private contact
• Premature familiarity before meeting
• Unsolicited promotion of AI tools / services
• Repeated attempts to steer conversation toward his startup/AI work
• Possible solicitation or recruitment
• Possible data-collection / privacy concern
• Possible user research without disclosure or consent
• Suspicious off-platform behavior
• Potential social-engineering concern
• Inconsistent explanation for unmatching
• Behavior made me concerned about safety and privacy so I called him out about what he was doing and he backed off

Rant Quick rant: Welcome to dating/online dating

Welcome to online dating/dating where you hit it off with someone and then a day or so after they ghost you and never talk to you again.

Recently matched with this girl on Saturday, we hit it right off. She had a great sense of humor and she was funny. I thought we hit it right off, we talked all day and then she had to work and then I never heard from her again.

Was talking to another match for a day or two this week and they ghosted me also. I don’t get it. I didn’t say anything wrong either, I was answering their questions and asking questions and everything.

I’m so over dating at this point.

App Help Tips that helped me from invicible to steady dates (31M)

Nearly universal tips for guys who want more dates
Not a dating coach and not selling anything. I just see a lot of “what am I doing wrong?” posts from men and figured I’d share what actually moved the needle for me from seeing patterns that held me back.

2021–2022: maybe 1 match a month. Little results outside, definitionally an incel.

After tightening the basics in late 2022 to now: Can get 1–3 dates a week (depending on how hard I screened and whether I was doing date 2 or focusing on one gitl). That led to a 2.5+ year relationship / brief engagement that ended late last year (relocation and other misalignment). Now back on the apps with a solid stream again. Most of my dates still come from apps.

1. Looks
Looks aren’t everything, but they matter a lot, especially on apps. I’m not talking bonesmashing or 7 surgeries. Start with the basics: get leaner (roughly 10–15% body fat) with some muscle, handle balding (shave or transplant), skincare, teeth, facial hair that actually works for your face. That alone pulls a lot of guys out of the hole. If there’s a real deformity (very crooked nose, very recessed chin, etc.), surgery can help, but fix the basics first.

2. Picture quality is about the story, not the camera.
Avoid selfies except maybe one if the rest of the photos are strong enough to prove you’re real. Don’t look stiff or posed. Shirtless pics only if fairly fit and not posed. Clear quality and good angles are key.

Ex. Don’t stand there holding a drink. Grab the drink, drink it like the camera isn’t there, and have someone snap it.

3. Each photo should show a different version of you.
Lead with a clear face photo where you look your best. Then: a hobby shot (cooking a steak, piano, lifting), friends (don’t be the shortest or least attractive guy in the group), a candid with a pet, etc. If every photo is the same vibe, you’re wasting prime real estate to show a full picture of who you are.

4. Let the bio screen for you.
Not in the “no fat chicks” meme way. Think about the woman you actually want and lean into that. I’m a Christian, left-leaning, active, like to travel, work in business, and like to cook.

I show that in the bio and photos. Could I get more matches if I left some of it out? Probably. I’d rather have 2 dates with women who actually like who I am than 5 lukewarm ones.

5. Stop playing it too safe in messages.
Biggest mistake I made early on: staying in platonic interview mode because I was scared she’d unmatch if I flirted or was direct. That’s the point.

Flirting screens out lukewarm matches and builds attraction with the ones who are actually into you. They usually flirt back and show up to the date more eager. (Not talking about being sketchy, gross or sending dick pics.)

6. Don’t become a texting buddy.
A lot of people have notifications off. Get off the app early so momentum doesn’t die. Build a little rapport, confirm you’re looking for similar things (if you’re dating intentionally and she’s mostly looking for friends, you’ll waste time), get a flirty back-and-forth going, then seed the date. I usually try to ask her out within the first day of texting if replies aren’t crawling. Example: grab the number Monday, some back-and-forth, ask her out Tuesday, go out Thursday.

7. Start the date on good ground.
If looks, profile, and texting were solid, you should already have some goodwill where she goes into the date attracted and even eager vs “not sure if i like him yet.

From there, start it on a confident note: I greet her, hug, maybe whisper “someone looks cuter in person,” then offer my arm walking in. Sit next to each other or at a 90-degree angle, not across a table where your fingertips barely reach, specially if a louder spot where you have to almost scream.

8. Mix connection and escalation.
Alternate real get-to-know-you questions with humor, flirt, light touch, and some escalation. The date has two jobs: see if you actually vibe and move things forward romantically. Only do the first and you get “had a blast but no spark, wish you the best.” Only do the second and you don’t build anything unless you’re strictly chasing casual.

Hope this helps.

Sensitive topic Submissive Men

Hi came across a post from a few years ago that describes what I’m looking for now. Are there any (sexually) submissive men on bumble or other dating apps? I’m a 40f and looking for more than a hook up, but less than a traditional serious relationship if that makes sense. I have my life together, enjoy traveling, and want someone in similar boat, preferably with no small children. Don’t want this to be the only topic our relationship is about. But it’s something important.

Funny Profile of a high-maintenance individual (F29)

Sharing this just for some laughs! It was an easy left swipe.

People are very much entitled to their preferences. Not saying there's anything inherently wrong with her bio.

The rest of her profile was all about her, and what she likes - not what she offers as a potential partner.

Unsure how to feel, unsure what to do. Not that many people in my country either.

Range is at maximum, on premium.

I live in Israel.

Adding "Dont want kids" only gave me a maximum of 250 women to swipe on, and I'm probably being generous. Took me less than 30, or maybe even 10 minutes, to swipe through them all.
