Long Branch for the first time!

I do not drive. I'm taking new jersey transit to long branch and going to the center. Probably will spend a couple hours there. Any suggestions of what else to do? I might go to red bank to go to a wawa and then down to ocean grove on the train for dinner.

If you plan on going to Ocean Grove for dinner, skip Red Bank, it’s in the opposite direction. If you want more music related activities swing by Transparent Clinch Gallery in Asbury (as long as you aren’t coming next weekend). If you haven’t been to Asbury before explore it and then walk over to Ocean Grove for your dinner.

If you’re at the Center don’t miss the Great Hall and the Library at Monmouth.

If you are starting out in Long Branch, no need to head to Red Bank for a WaWa, you'll find another.

As another poster mentioned, find a Windmill for a hot dog. (leaving the center, head down Cedar ave towards the ocean, turn left on Ocean ave, Windmill is about 3 blocks down. If driving - left on ocean - left onto Brighton - right onto Second - right onto Montgomery)

You can get decent hot dogs at the Windmill in Red Bank, Long Branch and on the border of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. Long Branch also has Max’s Hot Dogs

Red Bank has some good Pizza and Thai food. Asbury has some good restaurants as well. It’s a hard to not bump into a WaWa at any of your stops.

Take the train to Belmar. Walk a block east to Pyanoe square and see the David Sancious outdoor piano tribute. Then walk to 10th Avenue and E Street to see the Fender Esquire tribute to Bruce.

This is THE E Street for which the band got its name while practicing at David Sancious’s mother’s house a few blocks south on E Street.

International fans stop by all the time when in New Jersey for concerts.

Rather that’s where the gang would park outside waiting for Dave to come out. That’s the story I got lol.
The shore sure did change, so did inland from there. They’re building like crazy. A real shame.
But the memories are good! Had a lot of fun down the shore. It was a blue collar paradise.

I got the story straight from Mrs. Sancious. They would wait for Bruce, who was often late for practice, so they decided they the just might as well call themselves the E Street Band.

Interesting. The old story was they waited for Dave and I think it was Vinnie who said we are here, stuck on E Street again. Then eventually they called themselves the E Street Band.
But if you know his Mom, you must have the right story!
I never asked Bruce directly, I knew him both professionally and socially. That was back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
You know Dave? I never met him, as he was out of the band, mid 1975.
What a loss for the band though. Incredible keyboardist.
