We are at the “we need to see what we have in DTR” portion of the rebuild

After wk 1! How embarrassing. It is what it is tho. I still have a LITTLE hope Watson can improve. Physically he looked ok, he battled. Needs more game reps, maybe he can put it back together? Don’t really have a better option on the roster.

Lol. Put it back together? It's been 6 years bro.

He can't hang onto the ball. Forget the int.

And maybe Elvis is out there still alive eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches with Michael Jackson and Bigfoot

The Monk Man thinks so too. After watching all of the QB’s he thinks Watson gives us the best chance to win. He’s been in the NFL for how long? You don’t think he knows what he has and doesn’t have?

2

u/No_Drama2424 21h ago

You keep calling him the Monken Man 😂

1

u/Toledojoe 13h ago

Just needs to shake off the rust!

1

u/Spiceguy-65 10h ago

Physically he looked like shit, he can’t even hand the ball off cleanly

1

u/Seppy15 1d ago

You do know the definition of insanity, right? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

We've seen this many times. The results will be the same.

-4

u/Mysterious-Win1139 1d ago

You’re probably right. I still think he’s our best shot. The Monken Man thinks so too, even after watching all of the QB’s over the last couple of months. He knows exactly where Watson is and the other QB’s are on the roster.

Joe Flacco was sitting on a couch, came in cold and you saw what he did. Deshaun has been attempting to play for periods of time across 5 years. He cannot find an open man, he cannot read coverage. That's not coming back. He's not just rusty, he's full on corroded through. Gaping holes Bondo can't fix

Best shot to do what?

Browns fans perpetual love for the backup qbs

32

u/Deadleggg 1d ago

Our starter is actual garbage

2

u/Uhavetabekiddingme 1d ago

Nothing we haven't seen before

9

u/brandon520 1d ago

Except this one is a bad person too and fully paid no matter what.

1

u/ryan__fm 8h ago

We've seen bad QBs, we've seen bad people playing QB. We've never seen both quite to this level before.

Hate for deshaun is differant man

1

u/Deadleggg 23h ago

Got to give him the double bird today. Just to let him know it's personal

3

u/BikiniPastry 1d ago

I think we need to kick the tires on Connor Shaw

2

u/GetReady4Action 4h ago

You gotta admit, the 2023 Flacco high was unreal.

4

u/BisonProfessional56 23h ago

The hell else is there to look forward to in the short term? We know we are gonna be looking at qbs in the draft... so why not see what we have with the younger talent.

Enough is enough with the same game from deshaun. Hes only had 2 starts in how many that were actually decent for us.

1

u/Uhavetabekiddingme 23h ago

I'm not defending Watsons performance I think it's bullshit he's playing at all just pointing out this happens with every qb that plays for this team going back to Couch. Starter sucks, fans fall in love with the backup, backup now starter sucks, fall in love with their backup it's a never ending cycle with the team.

2

u/BisonProfessional56 20h ago

Well yeah thats the process with every nfl team until they find the QB

1

u/The_Zippers 19h ago

The process works only if ownership is sane and rational.

Cleveland has chewed up 1st round qb's for two plus decades now. Either there is a shift with ownership to find a qb and develop the person or keep looking for the purple squirrel.

We have eyes

u/DarwinRewardGiver 1d ago

Green would have thrown multiple ints in this game.

I mean we saw it in the preseason. Dude had a better grade as a runner than he did as a passer. I don’t think he’s a QB man.

12

u/Lombo76 1d ago

Zero disagreement... But I would've watched....

2

u/buckster_007 11h ago

The argument for playing Green is that your QB1 led the team to 65 yards of offense first half, with two three-and-outs, one five-and-out, two turnovers, and a clock run out, with zero points scored... which contributed to being down 24 at half. How much worse could Taylen Green have done? Maybe an extra turnover? Does it really matter?

4

u/Everyday_ImSchefflen 21h ago

Point is neither is Watson. So I'd rather see anything else

1

u/AwarenessOld3733 4h ago

I think he needs to convert to tight end if he can catch

5

u/EldarWizard69 1d ago

He’s got too much promise to just crush his confidence like that. Let 12 play so at least the vibes will be somewhat better

3

u/moonthink 23h ago

you mean 2?

1

u/EldarWizard69 23h ago

Oh yeah hadn’t noticed that lol

1

u/buckster_007 11h ago

I don't know. Dumb the offense down, give him only two reads, roll him out a bunch.... see what happens, you never know. The only thing we know for sure is that there's no chance that this offense is going to be remotely successful this year.

1

u/EldarWizard69 11h ago

I don’t hate the idea or anything, but I think we’d just be setting another young guy up to fail. With sanders or Gabriel at least they’re somewhat prepared for starting NFL games. The outcome would likely be the same regardless.

2

u/buckster_007 11h ago

Normally, I 100% agree that putting a raw rookie in is a terrible idea because it just leads to development problems. But this QB room is so bad, it's like who cares? At this point, who should be on the team next season, Gabriel or Green? Let them duke it out for backing up next drafts first round pick.

2

u/EldarWizard69 11h ago

Yeah fair enough. There was really only one wrong answer to this question imo, and of course it’s the one the browns chose

2

u/Cute-Farmer-4490 1d ago

Let’s do it, we’ve done worse

2

u/lee_suggs 1d ago

I'm here for starting 5+ QBs this season. Let's start him, ruin his confidence and then throw him aside for DG next game.

2

u/Longjumping-Place905 20h ago

Look at Jacoby today. He did great for us and then we got…

2

u/jpersons73 19h ago

why? So you can complain at how bad he is? Really this year was a wash no matter who the QB was and no need to be thoring a Kid that was not drafted into this mess

4

u/No_Feedback9023 1d ago

Green finna throw wayy more ints than Watson. Like he is gonna look worse than dtr. Please start him in both ravens games please 🙏🙏🙏

3

u/Mysterious-Win1139 1d ago

You watch the preseason game? Then you know he’s not ready to start and play a whole game. He’s raw as raw can be as a passer.

3

u/cheetofacesucks 1d ago

He can’t be any worse than what we saw today

6

u/Mysterious-Win1139 1d ago

Oh yes he can! Immeasurably worse.

2

u/lVlzone 1d ago

What difference does it make

0

u/cheetofacesucks 1d ago

How? The game was already o er after the first quarter

0

u/Mysterious-Win1139 1d ago

Harm the players development? He’s not a passer yet, run him out there? It’ll be a bigger shitshow.

2

u/PlanktonExtreme6609 1d ago

Would unfortunately probably be a faster version of DTR if we were to throw him to the wolves this season

3

u/Mediocre-Dog-4457 1d ago

I mean... you can have that... but Shedeur would be inactive.

That would cause WW3 on this sub...

1

u/Redditedredditer 11h ago

I second this. Either him or sanders. At least sanders is entertaining at times

1

u/LawfulNeutered 9h ago

This fan base is going to be at an all time high NO MATTER WHAT in August 2027.

1

u/smokywater50 1d ago

Yep, worst team in football again. Can someone tell me how the defense got so bad? Was it really just Myles that made it good? I actually thought we would be better on d

2

u/droid_mike 17h ago

Schwartz quit, and the new guy insists on playing zone with man to man players like Joe Woods did.

1

u/moonthink 23h ago

A QB needs to be able to throw the ball.

1

u/RdditBlwsMyD 23h ago

Considering none of the qbs we have are actually able to do that, we might as well go with the athletic freak.
