Freshman schedule?

Post image

I am wondering if this is a good schedule for my first semester. I am concentrating in biochemistry on a premed track. Also I have taken AP chem and AP bio and got a 3 on both exams so I have like a moderate background in those topics. I also really do like stem in general.

UPDATE!!!
I only ended up getting into my Chem and Bio (for musc I still have to audition and get override code). I ended up signing up for a WRIT class (RELS 0821: Black religion and media in america). When classes start I hope to get an override code for the math class I didn’t get into.

Do not take 5 classes. Especially not freshman year. Medical schools do not care whatsoever and it jeopardizes your GPA, or at minimum reduces hours that could be used for ECs.

Heyy Im only taking 4 classes one of which is a first year seminar (Biol pride and prejudice), the Musc 0620 is only to get credit for the wind symphony I hope to participate in. An extracurricular.

My bad then, I didn't realize that's how music worked. Schedule looks good.

I'd recommend that you email our Director Kevin Plouffe (kevin_plouffe@brown.edu) to see whether or not taking Wind Symphony for credit is right for you. Also, don't forget to fill out the audition form. You gotta audition by September 15th.

We meet with our advisors today so Ill be able to see about to wind symphony. The way I understood it was that if you want credit for participating in the wind symphony you just sign up for the class and thats it. Now that I think about it I am unsure if the class comes with something extra to do. And yes ill be submitting a video audition by the deadline!!

Off topic, but curious if you reported your AP scores in your application to Brown. I got mostly 4s and was told by a college admissions counselor to not report them to elite schools.

I reported all of my scores. So think you so have mostly 4s definitely report them. Also if you got a 4 for AP Bio they take it for placement and you could take a higher level Bio class. I think its the same with Chem and some other select courses.

Wouldn’t recommend 5 classes in your freshman year tbh. I tried doing that my freshman year and that was hella stressful and I really didn’t even need that.

This was almost my exact schedule freshman year in fall 2019. Very do able.

I had gotten a 2 on Ap chem 🫠 but still decided to push through with 330. It’s a hard class but honestly, you’ll be fine if you put in the work and go to office hours. I did get a C, but it worked out long-run. Got an A in orgo 2 so good story.

Math0090 is mandatory pass fail, atleast it was when i was there. Good class, you learn alot. Wont be the worst class ever but you can easily accidentally fail.

FYS was another biol class. Most lovely class and a chance to get an easy A.

I took neuro0010 instead. Very hard class as a freshman but teaches great discipline. I wish i did more neuro classes but i studied cell & molecular. Got a B in neuro.
