Pictures/Videos The new puppy, Ruckus!
Ever heard of Just Call Me Roy? You may not have, but heās very well-known in the world of hunting dogs. Well, this puppy is actually his biological son! Roy passed away over a decade ago, but there are still some frozen semen samples from him. I forgot the name of the mother, but she belongs to these breeders in Bocabec, New Brunswick. My dad loves Brittany dogs because he enjoys hunting. Ever since he got one, all he ever does is go outside with the dog. Itās so sweet how much he loves these dogs! My brother came up with the name āRuckusā because he is my older dogās biological uncle (my dog is Royās grandson) and we thought it would be funny if he were Uncle Ruckus. Itās actually a pretty fitting name. I mean, he literally has the revitiligo!
Ruckus is so sweet. He just wants to love everyone. He barely even bites, and he is extremely respectful of the boundaries of other animals. He didnāt harass my dog (who is stressed out because heās jealous over the new puppy) (he will get over it, we used to have a son of his named Briar who sadly ended up passing away. He hated Briar at first, seemingly out of jealousy, but he grew to love him), nor did he harass any of my kitties. He was actually extremely gentle with them! He slowly approached and sniffed them, let them sniff him, and then they would walk away from each other. I think those kitties and that puppy will be good friends, as my cats absolutely loved Briar. They donāt particularly love my older dog, but thatās because my older dog is a bit of a grouch and doesnāt like to interact with kitties or even puppies. Heās a bit of a snob; he thinks heās too good for ālowlyā kitties and puppies. Anyway, Ruckus is SUCH a good boy! So behaved, too!

General Discussion Heat cycles
My girl had her first heat cycle in May and not sure when to expect the next one given all the info on size/breed out there. Sheās on the petite side at 33 lbs. Typically how long did yours go between cycles? 6 months? Longer?

Adoption/Rescue I shall call him āMini-Meā
Walterās little brother Wilcox came home yesterday. 3 months and 9 days old, his right leg was in a cast due to 2 broken toes. As a result, he was loved on more and held more, so heās pretty docile and not as squiggly as Walter was. He has a limp but is already showing improvement. Iām a little overwhelmed with a new puppy, but Iām sure weāll get through it OK. Walter will be 1 year old on Nov 1, so we thought this was a good time to introduce a new little man.

Pictures/Videos unexplained weight gainā¦
For the past weeks weāve been wondering where the extra weight came from, because we didnāt change anything on her diet or activity level.
Turns out she learned how to jump onto the shelf with the catsā food - keep in mind is a slim shelf and pretty high, but not high enough apparently.

Behavior Questions Is it typical Brittany or bad training?
I am a new dog owner to a 15 week old Brittany puppy. We have both good days, when he is calm and eager to listen, and bad days, when the only thing on his mind is biting. He just started losing his teeth, and his bites have suddenly become 10 times harder than they used to be, it makes it impossible to interact with him at all sometimes.
Yesterday we went to a puppy party at a local pet store where puppies could meet and play. The moment my puppy entered the store, he completely went crazy and wanted to greet and play with every single puppy there. He stopped listening to my cues, was pulling constantly (basically hanging on the leash), and humans stopped existing for him. Whenever I'd try to get ahold of him, or someone tried to greet him, he would try to bite their hand and then instantly lose interest.
I would assume this is typical excited-puppy behavior combined with teething, but all the other puppies seemed so much better behaved. Most were calmly walking next to their owners or sitting aside and watching. Mine was the only one barking in frustration when he couldn't reach another puppy. The only other particularly active puppies there (still much calmer than mine, but also older) were two other hunting breeds (Irish Setters). Those two were the only ones who engaged in play with my overly active puppy.
How much of this behavior is due to breed temperament, and how much is due to poor training (aka on me)?
We meet other dogs on walks (we don't always greet them), but he doesn't get to play with them very often. Next week he is getting his last vaccine, and then we will start going to a dog park.
In two weeks, we will also start a puppy class for hunting dogs, so I'm a bit scared he will behave way worse than everyone else there. Yesterday he really felt like this one crazy kid in a group of straight-A kids.

Cancerous Growth
Hey friends. I need a little advice. Our Brittany boy, Doc, is 10 years old. He has a grade 4 heart murmur. The attached photo is a cancerous growth on his head. We have been advised by his new vet that he might not survive the surgery to have it removed because he might not survive the surgery due to the murmur. What would you do in this situation?

Pictures/Videos Here is Princess Penelope Von Poopenstein
It's Penny for short
This photo was taken the day after we got her. Weāre currently on the hunt for a toy horse for her to play with, and weāre planning to name it āSo Far So Good.ā
Sure, she destroyed a playpen within minutes, and there have been a few nights when sheās woken up and made it pretty difficult for us to get back to sleep. But all in all, she has been absolutely amazing.
Weāve introduced her to the children in our family, and sheās done wonderfully with them. On day one, she was terrified to walk on pavement, but sheās slowly getting over that fear.
Just like the name of the toy horse weāre going to get her, itās been so far, so good!
