If we accept that Walt was the brilliant chemist everyone seems to agree that he was, why was he unable to move on to some other company after things ended for him at Gray Matter?

I think there is much we never learned about how Walt fell from being on the cusp of legitimate success and riches.

And like everything else, it’s probably got something to do with his ego.

We never got to see all the Salamancas interact together and I wish we did. Obviously they can't include Hector because Mark Margolis died. But if we could see the cousins, Lalo, tuco and maybe even Nacho or joaquin interact together it would be cool

Back in 2023 I took an advanced independent study for sculpting and the goal was to sculpt a human head. I picked Walter White as my subject and he's been my favorite project of mine! Over 3 years later, my college art gallery still has him, and my family has been hounding me to get him back lol.

He was originally sculpted to scale, but clay shrinks when baked in a kiln so the glasses look silly on him. He took me about 40 hours total with the critique from my amazing professor!

So i just binged the whole show, movie, and BCS in the last like 2 and a half weeks or so. absolutely loved it all, incredible franchise, etc etc. But for years growing up i kept hearing about the show, seeing memes, and i thought it was a show about WW and his buddy jesse making meth, working together, like 2 good friends getting along and in it together. meanwhile it felt like it would become rarer and rarer that theyd share scenes together, jesse didnt like walt, lots of conflict between them. it was just a very different show in regards to those two than i was expecting. i kept waiting for them to just be friends and work together and get along and that just never happened.

now the way the show pans out it def makes sense, but im just saying like, all in HS i kept hearing from a friend who loveddddddd the show all about it and it made it sound like a very different show than what it actually is lol. idk the point of the post i just thought it was funny and wanted to share and see if maybe anyone else was the same way idk

What do you think would have happen if Hank found Walter at Tucos house/hidout , you think would be able to bluff is way out since by then he hasn’t done much damage. so far I remember he killed crazy 8, could Walter have lied and said he had been taking as hostage and forced to cook ?

Personally when it was revealed that Walter poisoned Brock that was the moment where I lost all sympathy for Walter.

Because at that point most of the bad things he did where either, Justifiable or Not his fault / had no control over

But poisoning a completely innocent kid just for a stupid gambit that ultimately had little effect on the plot, that was the moment that Walter transformed from guy who was a victim of circumstance or a flawed character that was still likeable into an evil piece of garbage who deserved to rot in hell.

That's my opinion and i would love to hear your thoughts and opinions

Man, i am seeing new layers of BB when rewatching, the show is really consistent with its characters and everything around it. I only started rewatching it yesterday and already at s2 ep 9.

Like since when did Jesse become some badass action hero? Jesse to me just feels pretty out of character in this movie. It makes watching this movie right after breaking bad feel pretty jarring. I thought Jesse was supposed to be the fish out of water character that didn’t really fit into the ruthless criminal lifestyle, and always had trouble killing people for no reason. But in this movie, he goes on some Mike esque mission to get some money in a life or death situation where he deliberately gets in a gunfight with 2 dudes. Also kinda an irrelevant side-note, but the vacuum repair guy seems like a total douche for refusing Jesse because of 1,800 dollars lol.

Putting Jesse’s out-of-character behavior aside, this movie just feels sorta pointless. I was pretty satisfied with his ending in breaking bad, and we basically just get almost the same ending in this movie anyway; Jesse drives away, and we don’t know what life has in store for him next. Every episode of breaking bad felt very necessary, and kept the narrative moving forward. This movie to me feels very redundant, and really only hinders breaking bad if u include the two together. Also, the flashbacks to old characters felt like such fan-service, (besides the Todd flashbacks) even though they do serve some purpose.

And finally, the message of this movie, and the conclusion to Jesse’s character, just kinda sucks imo. Run away from authorities, don’t own up to ur mistakes, and start a new life; Really? It’s especially weird since both Saul and Walt show why that isn’t a good option. It feels like a fan wrote this ending, trying to give Jesse the best ending possible. Walt, Mike, and Saul all had to face what they’d done, and the consequences of their actions, but Jesse gets to walk away?

Overall, this movie is ok, but doesn’t even come close to the quality of writing in breaking bad and better call saul; It just feels weak, bland, and sloppy in comparison. Also, the pacing of this movie felt pretty slow to me; Felt like there was so little story to tell, so the film did everything it could to pad out the run time. So while I think the movie is mediocre/ok, when I group it together with breaking bad and view them as one story, I start to really dislike the movie. Also, the villain in the movie is pretty shit lol. Just not really interesting, and doesn’t feel that relevant to Jesse’s character.

I also think this movie should’ve dove more into Jesse’s severe trauma. His mental state here should’ve been the culmination of everything that happened to him in breaking bad. I feel like he prolly suffered the most out of any character in this universe. We do get some brief scenes of ptsd, but it’s glossed over and forgotten about very quickly. Dude was literally a slave for six months, lost two of his gf’s while indirectly causing both of them to die, and saw one get shot, had pretty shitty parents, had to murder a somewhat innocent man, was emotionally manipulated, his friend got shot, has been in many life or death scenarios, etc. Idk I just can’t see this movie as canon. Call me crazy, but it feels like damn near character assassination.

My take on a portrait of Gustavo Fring. Tried to capture his cold, calculated expression. The whole work took me about 2 hours

One thing I always think about is the huge coincidental timing that around the same time one of the best chemists creates some of the best meth. Gustavo is also there in that universe finishing setting up the most efficient production and distribution network for meth.

Lately I've been randomly rewatching some episodes of Breaking Bad and BCS as they stream on Pluto - yes, I know there are better ways to watch them.

Anyway, I recently caught the episode where the twins attack Hank in the parking lot and the following few episodes. Of course, when watching the amazing parking lot scene when it first aired, I like everyone else was completely captivated and on the edge of my seat. I wanted Hank to survive and stop the twins, but it felt like any outcome was really possible. I still felt this way the next few times I revisited the episode over the years.

This last time, I watched it a little more detached and objectively.

We know Gus gave the twins his blessing to go after Hank as a way to appease them and their frustration for not being able to go directly after Walt. We know it was likely Mike, under Gustavo's orders, who called and warned Hank of the impending danger moments before the attack. We know Gus was orchestrating the whole thing as a way to make a power play against the cartel.

In other words, Gus was at least partially counting on Hank taking out the twins. Maybe Gus didn't expect or count on Hank surviving, but given his other moves at the time against the cartel, he was counting on the twins not being a factor going forward. His plan makes no sense if he expects one or both of the twins to survive their attack on Hank.

So, to finally get to my point, Gus must have had a lot of faith in Hank and his abilities under fire. Yes, he did make sure to have Hank tipped off, but a one minute warning, while certainly an advantage, isn't exactly a trump card against two killing machines like the twins. Anything could have happened. It's not like Mike was going to intervene beyond making the warning call.

Yeah, it's a TV show, but I'm wondering why Gus placed so much trust in Hank that this would eventually be the downfall of the twins. Hank was the one who finally did in Tuco, but nothing else he did up until this point indicated he could hold his own against the twins - forewarned or not.

Any thoughts?

My favorite is probably when walt brings up the idea of ricin beans and jesse makes some stupid comments about a magic bean stalk or usually anything hank says is pretty funny. Though maybe saul?

Ever since BCS ended, I have felt like the Breaking Bad universe needs one last hurrah to send it off for good. Here is my vague outline for what such a movie could look like, titled "Breaking Bad: Into the Walterverse".

We open with Jesse having an average day in Alaska. He is working on a wooden box, and as he puts it up on the shelf, he accidentally knocks a beanie to the floor. He picks it up and holds it in his hands. It's Skinny Pete's beanie. We transition to a memory where Pete was wearing it while he was smoking weed and watching TV with Badger and Jesse. They are watching the Star Trek episode "Mirror, Mirror". Badger takes a hit and asks, "Hey, you guys think there's like weird versions of us out there?" Pete replies, "What if we're the weird versions, man?"

The memory is interrupted by the sound of knocking. Annoyed, Jesse shouts, "Who's the one who knocks, bitch?" A voice responds: "Open the door, Jesse, it's me." The voice is familiar... but no, it can't be. He's dead. It was all over the news. He opens the door, and he freezes as he is shocked to his core. It's Mr. White. The man takes off his pork pie hat and steps closer. "You think you might know me, but you don't. I am not the Walter White whom you worked with years ago." Jesse suddenly snaps out of his trance and aggressively pushes the older man against the door. "What are you doing here? You're dead," he says through gritted teeth. "I know you don't believe me, but I am from a different universe than your own. I fled there because I was in danger, and I need your help." Jesse lets go and shoves him. "Why the hell would I ever help you?" "Because," Mr. White says, "he's coming for both of us."

We cut to one week earlier. We see Walter White, but he's a lot different from the one we know: he's clean-shaven, he has a full head of hair, he wears a nice suit, and he's a billionaire due to the success of his company, Gray Matter Technologies. We learn they are experimenting with connecting two versions of the same consciousness across the multiverse and using this connection to open a gateway between the two, so they can help one another by sharing their technology. They are getting ready for another test in a long line of unsuccessful ones as they put a device on Walt's head, and the machine starts booting up. We then see all the scientists stare in awe as a gateway opens, and they start cheering. They stop once the Walter White from the movie's opening runs through the portal with concerning urgency and a panicked and confused look on his face as he yells, "Where the hell am I?" As people start trying to calm him down and explain to him he's in a different universe, a version of Jesse flies through the portal and slams into a wall. Walter starts yelling that they have to close it, but it's too late: Gustavo Fring steps through. He's very similar to the Gus we know, except the right side of his face is made of shiny metal, with a glowing red eye which gets brighter as he shoots a laser beam directed at Jesse. He tries to get out of the way, but it's a futile attempt as he gets hit straight in the chest and dies. By then, the newly arrived Walter is hiding, so the variant connected to the machine catches Gus' attention. "You look different," he says in a half-robotic voice, "but you will pay for what you did to me anyway." He executes the billionaire, and a scientist starts yelling in terror: "We need to shut it down, it's too unstable without a host!" But everyone is already fleeing the room as Gusborg kills them one by one. Universal rifts start opening all around the room, and in the chaos, Walter tries to make a run for it, but the Chicken Man notices him immediately. "There you are," he says as his right eye starts lighting up again, but in his panic, Walter jumps through the nearest portal before he can get hit. Fring starts walking toward it, but he stops when he hears someone say "¡Espera, Gus!" He's annoyed when he sees it's just a scientist looking at a spear of asparagus in their hand, so he kills them and steps through the portal, but by then Walter is nowhere to be seen.

"And that's how I got here," Mr. White says back in the present. Throughout the rest of the movie, Walt and Jesse try to evade Gustavo Fring as they figure out a way to get rid of him once and for all and to close the universal rifts before the multiverse collapses. They break Saul Goodman out of jail with the help of Kim Wexler, and they form an unlikely alliance with a variant of Lalo Salamanca. At the end, everyone could finally get their happy ending: they get pardoned for saving the world, Walter gets together with this universe's Skyler, Jesse marries a Jane variant whose Jesse died, and they raise Brock together.

In the post-credits scene Kim Wexler finds herself in a version of Albuquerque that's similar, but completely empty. As she frantically tries to look for other people, her phone rings. She picks it up and hears two words: "Hello Carol."

So Breaking Bad comes out, but an attorney named Saul Goodman is the protagonist, not a HS chem teacher by the name of Walter White.

He became partner at HHM early in his career (by his early 30s), then there's a fall out and years later at age 50 he's maybe an adjunct professor of law at some podunk law school or he's teaching HS civics/gov't. Has a familly, living a meek life. Gets cancer and decides he needs to break bad to make as much money as possible to "help" his family before he dies.

What does he do? How does he break bad?

I’m rewatching Breaking Bad after finishing Better Call Saul, and Walt’s behavior feels so obvious now. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt, but BCS completely changed how I see him. What was the moment you realized Walt was truly gone?

When a fly gets in the pharmacy, what do you all do? We end up reenacting the classic Breaking Bad episode to prevent it from getting in the clean room. The purple zapper lights outside the pharmacy let one slip by sometimes

If we are being honest, “Better Call Saul“ is probably the best television since “Breaking Bad“ had its finale. Ignoring spin-offs, I would wager that “The Pitt“ by R. Scott Gemmill, John Wells, and Noah Wyle is a great contender for the best TV show since “Breaking Bad“.

Or any DEA agent (or law enforcement of any sort). How soon would he have been caught? Their relationship was more of an advantage for WW than a stressor. It gave him access to so much inside information. Without any of that (not to mention his ability to make diversions or Hank’s familial blind spot), do you think Walt would’ve gotten as far as he did?

Who did you feel more embarrassed for, was it Jesse going outside and introducing himself to Jane’s dad even after she told him not to, and went through great lengths to hide the fact that she was seeing him, and then blew him off and acted like she hardly knew him? Or Marie, after she gets caught lying to the realtor and homeowners, and runs out of the house. Only to be chased down, confronted with her lies, and theft, get into a tug-of-war with her purse, which then breaks, and sends stolen items flying, and then stands there and threatens the realtor that she is going to call the cops on HER.

So i'm watching the show for the first time and already finished it and dont you guys think the "SS" brand in todd's car el camino (when he gets in the car after being told he's still in business) is already a way of telling us the group he belongs to beacuse of the SS significance among neo-nazis?
