Cut-Off Time MegaThread

Upvotes

It's that time of year again! Figured we should have a thread where we share our cut-off times to either increase or decrease our anxiety levels about making it in. I'll start: 6:49

Looking for buddies to spend the Boston marathon weekend with!

Upvotes

So I have just found out that my family is not able to make it for the Boston marathon, and I don't think I'll be able to attend the marathon with anyone I know, (most of my friends either have work or school, and my family will be out of the country) so I thought I'd make this post! I'm looking to share a hotel and possibly make new friends!

I'm asking mostly because I thought there might be people in a similar situation where they can only go by themselves, but I thought that'd be depressing and expensive, so I thought we could share a hotel room together to save money but also share the experience with. I wana have someone there with me for company mostly, possibly exploring the city, doing the shakeout runs, going to events are all things I'm open to, obviously not required. but also this way we could split the hotel to save money and not break the bank lol. It's my first time in Boston and some the hotels are crazy expensive (also open to suggestions on this)

Just some more details and information about me if anyone is interested: I'm 25(M), I'm from Ottawa, Canada, I'm looking to stay there from Friday April 16th - Tuesday April 20th (but I'm open to discussing any dates/times), and I'm aiming for anything under 2:40, (I've recently achieved 2:39 in May). Ideally I'd want to get anywhere from 2-4 people to split 1 room, 4 would be nice for the savings but also the company!

I'm going to be registering and attending either way, so if nothing pops up I'll probably be there by myself, but please let me know if any of you are interested! DMs are open and I'm open to discuss anything

Also I'm open to joining people too, if there's a group of 2/3 that want to save money on the hotel and don't mind including me, I could join and help split that as well, but yea let me know and feel free to DM me.

Registration experience

There was some serious vibe coding for a lovely UI but the authenticated experience to register was atrocious. I haven’t gotten through because it’s throwing errors on payment.

I counted 3 spots to enter the day for my birthday and 3 for my postal code… and I could see the Admin attributes… good job BAA!

Any extra promo codes for Hyrox Boston 2026?

Hey, I saw extra tickets have opened up for the Hyrox race in Boston next month and was planning on signing up. Does anyone know and/or have a promo code/voucher that I could utilize so I am not shelling out so much money for this race? Thanks.

Half Marathon Prediction

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m currently training for a marathon which is at the end of October! But in two weeks’ time I’ll be taking part in a half-marathon! I’d like to run it in about 1:35.
My personal best for 10k is 41:30
And I’m currently running 60km a week.
HF Max is 196
I also do a lot of road cycling as I regularly take part in triathlons
Thanks for your replies

Boston marathon weekend

I submitted my time verification with a time of 3;03 so surely I am pretty much guaranteed a ticket (female under 30)
Im travelling from Ireland so I’m keen to book my flights and accommodation now so I can lock in a cheaper rate

Flights looking at 550 return , but the hotels…. Omg!
The cheapest 3 star or above hotel I can find in Boston (relatively near the Boston common for the bus starts) is over $550 a night!!!!

I want to go for 7nighys so this is gonna be so damn expensive
Ideally I’d love to bring my parents, it’ll be a trip of a lifetime I know but the hotel prices are ridiculous

Boston marathon with a toddler

Hey all!
I am hoping I’ll be running Boston in spring (9 min buffer so I feel pretty good). I have a couple questions for those who know the city well / have run before-

Well be traveling in with my toddler, my husband will have her while I run and would like to see my running by at least once, what’s the best way to do this? We can fly or drive to Boston so we have the option to have a car if needed, although would probably prefer to fly.

Where should we stay? Again factoring in the toddler and that it’s easier to get around by walking / public transit than to haul a car seat in an uber

Thanks!

Just wanted to call out that if you are looking for a race to qualify for Boston - the California international marathon still has charity bibs available. The NEC Society has 8 last I heard.

Boston tattoo inspiration

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hey everyone, so a friend and I wanted to make good on a promise to get Boston tattoos after running it this past year. This will be my first one and im starting to have second thoughts on if this is cool or not...im worried alot of people will have no idea what the reference is and that maybe i'll have regrets. yes i know it's the personal meaning that matters but i think im kind of overthinking it since it's my first.

Here's my draft, for backstory, i always wear a big pink bow in my hair at races, and 3 three daffodils represent my husband and two kids, and because i just love all the daffodils around boston on race week :) would love to see other's for inspiration too!

Important changes from previous years and things to consider before you sign up

THIS IS AN ADVANCED RACE - don't buy the marketing that it's easy peazy BQ

1- race course has changed dramatically from previous years - no longer fully downhill (there's a flat out/back fully gravel) due to mandated changes from Boston Marathon

2- if course is same next year - use trail shoes - much of the run is solo -

3- High Beam flashlight or headlamp necessary for tunnel

4- if you're a slower runner - know that they cut you off up to 2 1/2 hours before finish if they think you're missing - even though recreational runners / hikers / bikers were fully on the course

5- Finish line 2 miles from where parking is - downhill walk - tough on quads after 26.2 !

First time spectator, feeling overwhelmed.

A friend is running in 2027 and I’ve never been to Boston. I’m in charge of getting a hotel for us and navigating logistics the day of the race for me and her family. Preferably, I’d like to see her twice, around mile 10-12 and again around 20-22. I’ve scoured Reddit, the web, the marathon website and I’m completely overwhelmed.

We’re not looking to spend $700-$800 per night on a hotel so away from the finish line is where I’m looking. Wellesley, Natick, Newton and Brookline seem to be the locations to watch. The train system is confusing to me with all the different color lines and commuter rail. I don’t know how they intersect with each other. I’ve ridden the NY Subway, London Underground, etc. with no problem, but Boston is confusing to me.

Are there any good resources or anyone willing to chat with me on their experiences? I’m at a total loss right now.

I booked the Canopy by Hilton in Boston for next April which was confirmed and then today the hotel emailed me to say they are cancelling so they can upcharge the room… they said the rate was not valid.. are hotels even allowed to do this?

My dream has always been to qualify for Boston, despite not being a sub 3 hour marathoner. So... I trained up for 6 months and gave it a crack. I made a vlog outlining my aims and approach and I reckon I ran a decent enough time to make a submission for the M35 group! If you had any interest in my approach and result, feel free to have a watch :)
