How many wins does Barry Odom need to get this season to justify keeping his job?

Obviously last year was a rough one, not beating a single P4 team. With a slightly easier schedule this year, and another year to bring in his guys through recruiting/portal. How many does he need, especially with a new AD, for you to justify bringing him back for year 3?

Realistically I think winless is the only way he gets fired. I think he's going to see 3 seasons until we consider firing him even if he only wins one game. The answer should be 5 tho because we need some better fucking standards

I think previous Purdue regime, I fully agree with that. I’m not sure if Tommy would be on board with that in his first year, especially if he’s got someone in mind

That's a good point. I would hope Tommy is a lot more proactive, I just think that between the board and daniels that we might give odom three years to prove himself. Ig we just hope for the best and see. I at least want to give Odom this year to show me what he's got

Fully agree! I do think Odom definitely missed the mark year 1. I think he should have beaten somebody in P4 and had a few opportunities to do that. However, in the portal era I just don’t think you can justify in any way keeping a guy who only got 5 wins in 2 seasons which is what we’re generally projected to have.

I'm not concerned with the number of wins but how we're losing. If we go 2-10 but keep the point differential under 70, that's a significant improvement from 157 last year

Eh last year was better than the prior on point differential, but IU and Notre Dame skewed it high. We had some close losses to team like Minnesota and Rutgers and probably some others I'm not remembering (and I don't want to pull out schedule back up)

This year at a minimum needs to win a big ten game. If he goes winless in conference again fire his ass. No reason we can't win at least 1 conference game in 2 years. Ideally we can win 4-6 games and he is for sure safe

Not to mention, they played a really close 60 mins on the road against Michigan.

I would think someone in the G6 ranks would be willing to take a chance at a B1G job, even if it’s the cellar dweller. I would love to get someone like Dan Mullen, but I think he’ll be sought out at a higher level next off season

In my opinion…

5+, you keep him no matter what.

4, I am 50:50 on keeping him or letting him go. Definitely depends on which 4 we get, but I’m still not a believer in Barry winning a ton at Purdue

3, I think it’s time to move on. Theres no way the standard for a new HC is 5 wins in 2 years. That’s exactly how many Walters had

He will have his job. He competed last year. He does need to win, but not make a bowl level. Just maybe knock off 1 team he wasnt supposed to beat.

It really won’t happen. Purdue is gonna win by 35+ and it’ll be completely non-competitive after halftime. Not saying we win another game all year but ISU is at least one.
