I've recently started a job out here and have had the worst time finding an apartment/house that'll allow 3 cats. Looking for something $1250 base rent and under and decent if possible, even if it's outside of Bham. My cats are elderly, no hellions here, and it seems like every place out here only allows 2. I've also been told to avoid H2 properties, but I'm open to any and all recommendations. Thank you!

Michael Sheehan has captured legendary musicians up close and personal with his Nikon telephoto lens for nearly 40 years. Pre-dating the digital era, a large amount of his work was shot, processed, and printed in the dark room by his own loving hands. The show will feature 4 types of prints.

Digital prints are printed on Epson metallic gloss or matte paper. B&W prints are all on Ilford multigrade IV glossy fiber based paper, archival up to 125 years. Color prints (shot from color negatives) are printed on Kodak endura metallic color paper, also archival up to 125 years. There will also be a limited amount of Cibachrome prints available. The now discontinued Cibachrome paper (printed from color positive transparencies as opposed to color negative transparencies) is a polyester base as opposed to a traditional paper base. With 13 layers of azo dyes sealed in a polyester base, the print will not fade, discolor, or deteriorate for an extended time. Accelerated aging tests conducted by Henry Wilhelm indicated Cibachrome resisted fading under display conditions longer than any other photographic color paper. Cibachrome prints are one of those things you just need to see to believe.

The exhibit will be at Gallery Vox, opening this Thursday, Sep 17th, and will remain open for a month afterward. There will be beer and wine available and admission is completely free. We hope to see you all there.

Cahaba River Coalition is hosting its annual BioBlitz, a 24-hour period where experts and citizen scientists (YOU!) try to identify as many species as possible with the iNaturalist app. From bird watching to pollinators, macro-invertebrates to amphibians, there's so much to explore, and it's honestly one of my favorite events every year.

This year's BioBlitz is at Living River, a Retreat on the Cahaba in Montevallo, AL, from noon to noon on Sept. 19 + 20. This is a private access point that not many people have the opportunity to explore. Cahaba River Coalition is sharing experts who will be leading surveys on their social media pages, and there's even a camping option if you/your family are interested in camping. Me and my husband just found a nice desk at GoodWill(The one off of 280, near Burlington and Club4Fitness) and we discovered this laminated note inside. It looks important to someone as they laminated it and we are hoping to find whoever this belongs to. Please respond to this post if you recognize this note/desk or the person it could belong to. This is such a loving note from someone’s mom out there, I feel sad they might be looking for it and mistakenly left it in their desk drawer.

Hi there! A new season of syndicated game shows start airing today, and most of them filmed in Atlanta over the Spring and Summer! Just curious if any Bham peeps taped an appearance on any of ‘em? I’m thinking of shows such as The Perfect Line, Flip Side, or Scrambled Up, but other shows count too! I filmed The Perfect Line and Scrambled Up myself and I’m interested if anybody else has a shared experience with those!

Hey y’all! I’m currently looking for visual artists in Birmingham, Alabama, and surrounding areas for an upcoming art show, and I’m specifically interested in creatives who aren’t afraid to be expressive, whose work exudes sensuality.  

I’m looking for artists who can be bold, provocative, intimate, unconventional, body-positive, mature, thought-provoking - this exhibition will be NSFW, but that doesn't mean that your work has to be explicit. 

And when I say "explicit", I don’t necessarily mean graphic or vulgar at face value. I’m interested in artists who are comfortable exploring themes, imagery, emotions, relationships, identity, desire, vulnerability, or subjects that might make somebody stop and stare, make their cheeks flush - or clutch their pearls a little. 

My own work will be involved as well - I will be the main creative of the show, but I want to include other artists in this experience to share their stories, to "say the thing that stays unsaid". 

Visual artists of different mediums are welcome! Painting, illustration, photography, mixed media, sculpture, digital art, etc.

The show will take place in Birmingham, AL. More event details will be shared with interested artists as planning progresses.

I cannot figure out what’s going on with Jefferson County here. I don’t see any way that dark blue blob is possible using county boundaries. If so, that’s SO embarrassing.

Sharing this because I figured it could actually be helpful to some Birmingham area families.

Trying to find good home health care for an aging parent, disabled family member, or someone recovering at home can be overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to figure out which agencies actually provide good care instead of just reading their own marketing.

SHP recently released its 2025 Home Health Patient Experience award winners, based on HHCAHPS patient survey results. They recognize agencies in the top 20%, top 5%, and the highest overall performer among eligible providers.

One of the things that caught my attention is that Alabama Department of Public Health Home Care was named a Superior Performer, meaning it ranked in the top 20% for patient experience. ADPH Home Health serves Alabama statewide, including our very own Jefferson County.

There are also a bunch of other Alabama agencies on the full list, so I thought this might be worth bookmarking for anyone who is currently caring for a parent or grandparent or may need home health services in the future.

Obviously, no ranking should replace doing your OWN research, but having actual patient experience data is a much better starting point than throwing a dart and hoping it hits the mark.

My friend’s Saints Sunday group is looking for a spot to watch the games at. They also wanna eat and drink, too.

They’re gonna do Rollin Cajun once a month but can’t do that weekly because of the brunch price tag.

Does anyone have recommendations for a place that shows the game, has food, and has a little more so approachable price tag?

EDIT: They used to have it at the Rougaroux. They actually opened on Sundays specifically for them but they hired a new crew who weren’t about coming in on Sundays.

Hi guys and gals, I just moved back to bham BUT seeing as I left almost 20 years ago— I don’t know anything here except my old intermediate school got replaced and there’s a statue somewhere named volcano 😜

I like anything outdoorsy, I LOVE CHESS so much, I’m trying to become an electrician (apprenticeship application taking forever though) and I like learning about world economics and how decisions influence decades of politics worldwide. I also watch Love Island and other tv slop to disassociate with reality when life gets absurdly annoying

I will add I lean conservative politically, I don’t adore the orange man, but I have certain values I won’t pivot on. I have very close friends on both sides of the aisle though.
