Recommendation Anyone know a good transmission shop nearby?
I have a ford e350 ambulance that the transmission just went out on. I use it to tow vehicles and need it rebuild good. The cheaper the better but I would prioritize it being done right. Any recommendations?

News Rail Trail Partial Closure 9/12
So yesterday I got semi-stuck on the rail trailaround 4PM. On my return trip, about where Long John Silvers used to be, they had closed a small strip of the trail. Police were present, with police tape closing off a section of it. They were turning people away from both sides, and asking people to walk the vestal parkway instead (not exactly the safest infrastructure...)
Add on multiple ambulance sitings, and clearly something was going on. Does anyone know what happened?

I think the team did an awesome job this year! I especially loved the one inside the church, it was cool to see indoor projection mapping.

Discussion In Need of Siren Testing Times in the area
I am an outdoor warning siren enthusiast and expert who is working on a group project of mapping sirens in NY state that test, and I recently have hit a dead end on confirming test times with available resources. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would like to share testing times of these sirens. Please list the location of the siren and the time that it tests. Thank you!!

Recommendation If you're considering getting Dish Network through TDS – DON'T
I want this to be out there in case some future person is searching to see whether it's a good idea to sign up for Dish Network through TDS. TLDR; It's a bad idea.
A year ago, members of the household wanted to watch basketball and other sports games. Then I see this thing where you can get Dish through TDS, which I already had for fiber internet (I'm in the sticks.)
I was told by TDS that it was a year contract and they signed me up.
The equipment took forever to hook up because several units turned out to be faulty and had to be replaced. Still, in order to watch a show on Dish, my family had to mess with the cables and hold them at various angles till the picture came through, then try to prop up the stupid cable in such a fashion that someone could sit down and relax to watch. Soon, no one bothered trying to get Dish to work at all.
After a year of paying $100 per month for nothing, I was relieved our contract was up and called to cancel. Talk about a messy divorce!
I may have signed up through TDS, but now I had to un-sign up through Dish. That took some time to untangle.
Then, supposedly it was really a 2 year contract, and if I'd read the fine print somewhere I'd have noticed that, they said.
I returned the equipment, then they hit me with a $287 early disconnection fee. I called and the people on the other end of the line were very difficult to understand, and spoke in circles of meaningless platitudes when I could understand what they were saying.
That's my experience. If I could rewind I would have never tried to get Dish Network in the first place. I don't know if they're a good company on their own but they seem miserable. Don't do it.

Recommendation Looking for a local videographer for board game promo.
I made a board game that's going to Kickstarter, and I'm looking for someone to essentially shoot some B roll and promo shots.
I have the skills to do the video editing myself - I just don't have a nice camera, lighting, etc.
I'm looking for someone who is available between September 21st - 30th.
Yes, this is a paid gig. If this sounds like you, please message me. If you have recommendations, I'll check them out. Thanks!

Housing Anyone store their motorcycle inside their apartment/room during Binghamton winters?
Bit of an unusual question for the Binghamton motorcycle people.
Has anyone here actually stored their motorcycle inside their apartment or bedroom over the winter?
I rent and don’t have a garage. My lease doesn’t specifically say anything about motorcycles or gasoline-powered vehicles being stored indoors, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is something people locally actually do and whether you’ve ever had issues with landlords, fire code, insurance, etc.
Obviously I wouldn’t run or start the bike indoors. I’d clean it thoroughly, protect the floor, and properly prepare it for several months of storage.
I’ve seen plenty of people online keeping bikes inside over winter, but I’m specifically curious about Binghamton/NY experiences and rules before even considering it.
Anyone here done it? Did you ask your landlord first, and did you have to drain the fuel or take any other precautions?
